I always get the general vibe that people who are self taught are frowned upon and trashed, at one point online I was told I wasn't a witch because I wasn't Garderian. As if it's my fault I live in a state with no local covens or witches to guide me, or I wasn't born into some prestigious blood-line. The way you worded things it just reminded me of that particular incident. It really saddened me...

If you look up warlock they are indeed described as oath breakers but not breaking oath with other witches but with christianity and their baptism (if baptised) and for working with the Devil. Many witches also did and do currently so personally the only difference I see is the preference of male witches to identify as Warlock.

Darling, we do not even believe in your "devil" as the bible dictates in the first place. You can hardly follow the lead of an entity whose existence you simply do not acknowledge!
@russelkester2798

I disagree. Old court records from the courts of speakers of English used the word Warlock for male practitioners. The only oaths they supposedly broke were those made to the Christian church. Male practitioners of witchcraft are reclaiming this title. I use it because Wicca is based primarily on feminine energies and perspectives. And men are not just a consort for a woman's whims. As Warlock men can focus on the male energies of the Lord and giving him a proper place and perspective in our lives. Our energies are different because we are warriors and defenders and fathers and sons. The feminist leaders of Wicca do not understand our energies and our lives; therefore we are creating our own and refusing to bow to the lies that sought to destroy our title, our energies and our masculinity. We are men, we are proud, we are powerful.

You disagree? Did you watch the whole video? I discussed both oath breaking and male practionier. Many male practioniers also call themselves witches. You also keep brining up wicca for some reason. Wicca and Witchcraft are not the same thing. Wicca is a revival movement. Yes there where words in old English but it didn't refer to a practice. In fact old English "wicca" referred to a male, old English female version was "wicce". (pronounced wit-cha and wit-che). As to court records using a word that is hardly sound evidence. As you are talking about non-practioners throwing labels around. Not to mention the word Warlock is Scots in origin. Where exactly are these court cases? I'm not all knowing or anything, I can only share what I have learned. If you have information that differs I'd be interested in reading and considering it.

@@BlazeLeeDragon We, as Teachers and Guides of the Way (for this Topic or in any other learning environment), should be able to accurately judge whether or not a label is correctly applied, and why. Otherwise we are not offering Guidance to those who request it. This, of course is my opinion, however I feel anything less is tantamount to telling Students to do what they like because it's all good. This might work for certain artisitc endeavours, but it's a lazy suggestion with potentially dangerous results for those wanting working Craft knowledge.

Originally the people who practiced magic were called "cunning men/women". It wasn't until christianity took over that people were called witches and warlocks. There is also another theory that warlocks were called as such because they broke their oath with the church and not a coven. I do find it amusing that both witch and warlock were used more as a insult but a lot of people like to use "witch" as good practitioner of magick and "warlock" as a bad practitioner of magick when they both were considered bad in there original context.

warlock [ˈwôrˌläk] NOUN a man who practices witchcraft; a sorcerer. synonyms: sorcerer · wizard · male witch · (black) magician · diviner · occultist · enchanter ·  [more]
@BlazeLeeDragon
@BlazeLeeDragon 4 года назад
oh I'm familiar with dictionary and encyclopedia definitions. Unfortunately these definitions are written by those who don't practice or know anything about the paths. For example calling a Warlock, someone who practices witchcraft and also a sorcerer? then to use synonyms as sorcerer, wizard etc...this shows a clear lack of understanding of the paths. For example Sorcerer is sometimes translated into "one who casts lots" There are entire paths dedicated to sorcery and the working with the pillars of sorcery. Wizard on the other hand is a fictional term used in fantasy or for someone who is skilled at something "they are a real wiz" for example. But to lump together all these terms would be like saying basketball and sorcerer players are the synoyms. I mean they all do sports and use a ball it's the same thing. though this is true from a base understanding the rules of the game are vastly different.

...and that makes sense on so many levels. Holding a grudge literally weighs very heavy on the heart and could cause health conditions. It also darkens your chakras, your aura, and the very essence of your being. Letting go rather than going with the traditional way of killing some "tref" is healthier and much more peaceful than allowing the darkness of anger, sadness, etc take us over in the midst of possibly feeling betrayed or leaving a coven for the sake of living our own journey.

Warlock wasn't a term used by the craft but was used as a derogatory term by the Christians. It is a perfectly appropriate term for some people. Many come out of the Abrahamic faiths only after having been baptized and sworn allegiance to the Church and its Creeds. One who leaves the Church is an oath-breaker (warlock) in a very true sense and that is a badge I would wear with pride.

Christopher Penziek has a book called the Temple of outer witchcraft which on pages 8, and 27 speaks to a Warlock as being a title given such as Sorcerer, mage, sage, wizard etc.. Hans Holzers Book Witches in chapter 15 Discribes a Warlock as a Male witch who is trained in some form of Magic, normally Conjurations and upon his nature can either harm or heal. Paul Huson in his book mastering witchcraft compares Both Witches and Warlock as Equals in the art of witchcraft. But it does come down to the region of the work or etymology of the word, such as Angelo Saxon, Germanic, Indo-European, Gaelic, Welsh, etc. Each Region has a different meaning of what a Warlock is. Personally I refer to myself as a Satanic Warlock a d practicing Sorcerer. But like you it's too each their own. You asked for sources so I gave you some. Enjoy!

It is my understanding that the term "Warlock" (wǣrloga in Old English) was given to male practitioners that had given their oath to the church that they would no longer practice their pagan magic yet continued their pagan ways. In medieval times to be marked a wǣrloga meant your word could not be trusted and thus you had no honor. In those times one's honor was one's most prized possession!

It comes from a source named the Heliand written around 830 CE. It is simply a compound of wâr meaning man and akin to Latin vir combined with Log, pronounced low as the source of the word law and akin to Latin word lex pronounced leks. It’s therefore simply a word meaning law man and law men in the plural also translated as man of law and men of laws. Examples of spellings include warlow, werlow, werlaga, wǣrloga, warloh, varlagr, verlagr, virlog, virloh, and werloch just to name a few. For some comparisons one can also look into such sources as An Icelandic-English Dictionary, by Richard Cleasby and Gudbrand Vigfusson, where ørlög means “primal law". There are other examples such as ūt, "out," and lög, "law.” Another example is the word bylaws, which comes from byrloga and means town laws literally. All you have is a word starting from the prefix for man and the suffix for laws. Its a later misinterpretation as Lock Man. The lack of citation of source of the claim by Doreeen Valiente its Scottish was because had she provided the citation it she would have had to acknowledge Witch is also noted as the female counterpart there as well. The source of her unmentioned claim is John Dryden from the 1600s. "Warlock (Spelled Warluck by him for whatever reason) in Scotland is applied to a man whom the vulgar suppose to be conversant with spirits, as a woman who carries on the same commerce is called a witch:" Confirmation can be found in the 1755 C.E. Original Edition "A Dictionary of the English Language" Page 2243. Its also cited in the Scottish Dictionaries. Similar citations can also be found in Scottish and Irish dictionaries. Warlogan means Lawman and applied especially to the Pharisees who were called “traitors, oath breakers, deceivers and show offs” as well as accused that “their father is the Devil” by Jesus in this book which is based off the New Testament books. As such it has since been a common practice that those wishing to perpetuate the native associations intentionally falsify the etymology to suite their own agendas and slanderous biases with little to no care or concern about accuracy or authenticity of their claims and conclusions. The actual meaning of Witch is also about 60 some years later in the Domboc and its is clearly a feminine word in its plural and singular forms, and not the nonsense perpetuated by Lewis Spence. Its also not related at all to Varlokkr which does not men Word but rather Ward as in protect and lokkr in that case does mean bind. Its was a now lost song calling on ancestors to bind their protection, like a lyrical prayer, over a people being essentially erased with their culture. Its as simple as that. Witch ( a female word only) comes from the plural Wiccan and singular Wicce, also spelled Wicca and pronounced Weech-ae. Its recorded source is the Domboc written in or around the 890s CE. Its a native spelling of period Latin Vicae akin to later period Latin vica/vice that meant ‘speak’ pronounced and pronounced Veech-ae as in one who speaks on behalf of another (a representative). Its been confused time and again with another word Wika/Wice pronounced Week-ae and source of the modern word Weeks, and simply means move, travel and change used in Norse Icelandic as Vike/Vika/Vik such as the word ‘go a vikin’ meaning “to travel, explore or go on an expedition” as a term not a title. It was used as a gloss for such words as oracle as in an example the Oracle of Delphi and the Oracle of Endor as Oracle literally means plead, and beseech more accurately which is why it becomes a gloss as Witch of Endor in the KJV. It also survived as a term in Novgorod and in Pskov also known to stem from Latin Vicae akin to later period Latin vica/vice as Veche retaining the same basic sense of "speak/tell/talk/announce." In both cases people keep trying to make other claimed associations failing to research that the sources they rely on have worked over the centuries to make sure to distort everything they can to keep people arguing and griping and fighting over complete nonsense as well as to keep them entirely ignorant of their cultural roots (good and bad equally) trying to embellish the bad or sanitize it, or in reverse ignore the good and demonize it. Its quite annoying actually.

@@BlazeLeeDragon Of course. And I do apologize for typos. I was falling asleep when your video appeared in my list. One of the main means to do so is first take the word in question, disregard the usual dictionaries claim of "first known use" because' those tend to only refer to the spelling or form in question, not the original source, and tend to go off the rails with the usual definitions by association rather than meaning. My Background, not that it matters, include theological studies and research, anthropology, philosophy and a lot more of course, which was at the time labor intensive and included etymology. Of course when I had come across the subject of Warlocks and Witches, when I asked the professors why the same rules of etymology and linguistics are not applied to this subject matter and just glossed over, I got more than a few scowls.This was minor compared to the hostility I received when I asked why is the word Angel a combination of An-gelos translated as messenger when its actually a compound of An meaning 'not' and 'gelos' being 'laughing' so 'Not Laughing' or Demon translated as evil spirit when it comes from Dae meaning 'bright' and Monos meaning 'one,' so literally 'Bright one'? Their usual response is "some things are not meant for us to know," to which my response was 'if we are not to know something' then why was it written down unless the intent was for us to know? I ended up only being awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity and later was excommunicated more or less. Some even went as far and to dub me a heretic to which I did laugh. In any case My best recommendation is hen it comes to dictionaries remember they are riddled with historic distortions and I would suggest collecting as many notes as possible on ancient Greek and Latin since the majority of such literary works were derived from these sources when being translated, glossed and transliterated over into other languages, and when you come across a dictionary's citation as "first known use" it only refers to the specific spelling at that time and seldom mentions the precise source of record. Also familiarize yourself with the manner in which things were spelled at the time in regards to the specific language and culture of that time. For example Icelandic is English. Native its Íslandik. It matters significantly though it seems minor. And always avoid any source that makes the excuse "it may be the original meaning but its not how its used now" because it is as I like to refer to as willful ignorance for self justification. Also always cross reference references., study nothing, research (which means look again), and do not be even the slightest bit concerned with objectors as they often tend to not be as involved to truly appreciate the culture they claim to be and tend to fill in the holes of information with blind assumptions, conjecture and their own biases and arrogance as justifications. Al the same, be well, fear no one and nothing, not even yourself.

@@talismanskulls2857 nay all good and I'd be up for sharing resources and having further discussions. I have a discord if you care to discuss further. That aside, yeah one of the things that is driving me nuts is the repeated information with no original sources, which is why I am always asking for them. A lot of the founders of the new age movements knew each other too. Crowley, Gardner and Nichols for example. You might enjoy some of the lives I have done recently one of the things I'm attempt to do is deconstruct. I don't mind new age paths and people are welcome to be inspired by what ever they want. but I want the false information to stop. Which is why I asked for sources, so as a reference the source I'm using for Warlock has changed over the years. I want to acknowledge modern claims but I'd rather dig deeper. I'm fond of etymology website www.etymonline.com/word/warlock I'm big on sharing my sources I'm tired of the BS heresay regurgitation. I don't have some secret special knowledge, I read books, watched videos and talked to people. Those are my source. Now you mention Heliand, but how does that tie into it's more recent use. I'd like to be able to connect the dots vs just possible connection. If it's a possible connection, cool but that is the other issues I am having is where and when are the words used. Modern new age stuff has taken old words and repurposed them. Which is why I try to be clear on how it's used today, but not having historical connections. Aside form "this word seems cool, I'm gonna use it."

@@BlazeLeeDragon Awe yes, the Online dictionary. I got in trouble so many times for originally using that source for research in college. LOL. It basically just draws from the OED like so many others. Its fine for finding the word forms as a starter but its conclusions are not reliable. As to the other... The Heliand is also known as the Old Saxon Bible or Epic Poem depending the commentator. The specific part to note there is where the 'warlogan' (law men) is used as a gloss for Pharisees and Sadducee which in the KJV and other versions of the Bible use the same meaning as "men of the law.". Its much the same manner in which Jesus is made out to be a Warlord and his Apostles as his loyal Thanes (Danes). The reason for its importance of later assumed meanings and clear distortions is the same as claiming Pharisee means oath breaker, traitor, liar or devil, etc. because of such being condemned as such in those scriptures. However, if one looks into the actual meaning of Pharisee one finds it means separatist. And though Torah in English sources is applied to the assumption or gloss as "the law" in reality torah itself actually has the meaning closer to "instruction and tradition" rather than law which means "set in place" as in "laid down." Much as those who toy with etymology see the word "lie" and automatically conclude its meaning is "deceit" or mislead. When it also refers to the same concept of "lie down' such as when you are preparing to sleep or rest. In other words people have been toying with the words to mislead others and impose their own deception and to force fit a narrative. You may be interested in another source as well. German Literature Between Faiths: By Peter Meister. The other notes also the factual meaning of lawmen and men of law but also equates it to Lawyer. Now I am by no means a fan of this one particular nutters in Salem Ma. but even the one nutter Christian Day even references the Heliand, but of course like all of them there, they put their own spin on far too much. I prefer more scholarly sources. LOL. At least Peter Meister has the academic credentials so many of these other sources you and I have both clearly encountered lack. Other sources of information to clear up other questions would include old liturgical sources from the earlier centuries such as the Select Homilies of .Ælfric, a monk from around the 900s for the source of the of witan which became the modern word witness, originating from him as witigan as a native term to gloss prophet and apostle. Witangemot is a later form of this as a combination of witan and gemot pronounced ye-moot as in meet. Literally a meeting of witnesses. It was later applied around the 1200s-1400s for temporary juries of sorts organized my rulers as an advisory council as well as a sort of jury, but became less common as the rule of royalty declined as culture and government structures changed. For another example for other sources like where the term Witch-doctor came from you would look into 1718 An historical essay concerning witchcraft by Francis Hutchinson, in which he uses the term fro fraud doctors blaming their failures on curses and initiating "witch hunts" to save face. Of course you would likely know already of the infamous Malleus Maleficarum, but it has been falsely translated first into German from its Latin as Der hexanhammer which then was translated into English as the Hammer of Witches (or Witches Hammer). Its actual meaning is Mallet of the Malefic Ones, a term specifically applied to those deemed heretics and was a manual for heresy hunting more specifically, such as exposing various non-Catholic or break away sects, such as the Vaudois, which was from around 1179 by the Poor men of Lyon, by a founder named Peter, but later in the French mind was used as a catch all for anything deemed heretical, perverse or supernatural and through Creole French became Vaudoux, which gave way to what came to later be called Voodoo. I mention these two because the two sources is the basis behind the later association of Voodoo and Witch-doctors with the later 1950s remake of the concept of Afro-centric movements much the same way in which the previous was used to create Euro-centric ones. Now i dont recall which work it was in particular but it was actually the writings of the Danish theologian Saxo Grammaticus, which we can rightfully describe as an extremist, who invented the idea of Warlocks and Witches of being non-human entities of a demonic nature into three classes. This inspired the association of such in later Fae lore associating such with ogres, trolls, etc. Avoid books like the Widsith because its a known fictional work even though its an old one. its only useful when familiarizing oneself with the linguistic variations factor. Also remember this as many tend to not consider this. They didn't have spell check back then. As a bit of humor, I remember coming across some rules being recorded by a scribe for an English king. The word was City. It was spelled in the same document as cities, citys, sitty, and so forth along with other words that started looking more like quick notes. I found it amusing because in my imagination I could visualize a king being long winded, repeating himself several times over the same thing, unable to keep coherent, and the scribe standing their appearing dutiful but in his head thinking "oh please just shut up already and let me finish recording your damn decrees." Anyways, I would recommended going outside the normal courses into such research to look into the sources even the "common" ones draw from and like it or not it does tend to be Catholic dominated, even in academia, and I would suggest sources on actual scholarly sources for linguistics which would include the Library of Congress and various Universities that make such things available online. Also note that many of these old texts are very difficult to read in their original written form because often the words were not split apart since the materials were very expensive and often even recycled. That often results in some words being combined in ways they were not intended to be read as, and lack most of the modern rules of writing as well as pronunciation. That's why you have to not rely on the first sources you come across. I laugh at those who derive their information from movies and games. My opinion of course on that one is they should be embarrassed. I myself am 50 now and still find new things. Also I noted you wondered as to the source of Wizard. I haven't yet found any original sources, though it does occur around the same medieval period commonly as an alternative for natural philosopher and is itself German in origin. This appears to come from Wisand which I have found in many of those same old sources meaning wise One, where Wise simply means Clarity of thought and mind. Its often confused with Witigan yet I already covered the source of that bit.

Don’t get me wrong its just one of many I look to, another is en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Main_Page they have a page on warlock for example that is pretty close en.wiktionary.org/wiki/warlock as is the case with most sources its good to find multiple ones and cross reference them. The problem is when it comes to words used in new age circles there is so much fluff out there its hard to sort it out. At least I personally consider it hard. I also like www.britannica.com/ but they have nothing on this specific topic. I do like to take in consideration modern practioners and hearsay but try to ask for additional details to compare to notes I’ve taken along the way. I found a few references to the Heliand but I can’t find warlock in any of the translations. I’ll try again and see if I can find this “warlogan” word but again how does that tie into folks using it for magicians? I don’t speak or claim to speak old English or whatever the Anglo-Saxons spoke. Most of my coming across the term warlock is from new age occultist and the fictional video game references. Most of the hearsay I’ve come across was a tie between oath breaker and male witch. Of course I had no historical evidence to back up either claim so started digging and found references on those sites (before mentioned) which seems to repeat much of what I had heard others claim. Though not my first go to source I do use Wikipedia as well and check the references they site at the bottom: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warlock but of course the sources are the three we talked about already. Thank s for the book suggestion Between Faiths: By Peter Meister. I also prefer more scholarly sources if I can find them but the problem I have with words like Warlock is it doesn’t appear to be drawn into any specific path. Not until claims that Scottish new age practices started using it, or in the 1900s when the new age movement got a hold of the word. But as you mentioned yes I agree that the sources I’ve come across so far have been lacking. Which is why I stated it the way I did in the video. There seems to be two major camps in modern neo practices. Another source, thank you. I’ll have to see if I can find a translation of Select Homilies of .Ælfric. I like to dig up things on internet archive when I can find them. archive.org/details/selectedhomilies00aelfrich/page/32/mode/2up?q=witan Ah yes the good old Malleus Maleficarum, heard of this text a few times. archive.org/details/b3136245x/page/n33/mode/2up 15th century and I do see they mention the word warlock in the translation. I have not spent much time with the text other then knowing it exists. I also ran across its name in the last 2 years or so, I made this video long before it. Right I have been trying to dig into older books on magical topics in general and trying to track down many common sayings and practices to see if I can see the origin. I’ve not taking another look at warlock until just now with our conversation. Oh I don’t rely on the first source I come across, I do attempt to find multiple sources and then share said sources. But I’m not entirely certain on which sources can trustworthy or not. Yeah…the game and movie thing is rather frustrating and I see it more and more often. I’ve found a renewed desire to track down sources in the last 2 years or so and many of my videos where much more based off of hearsay or the dreaded llewellyn publications… I assume I don’t need to clarify what I mean by that statement. But as I’m sure you are aware, we learn things by reading and researching. Someone had to have written it at some point. If I can find it and read it, I will. If not I try to mention the modern hearsay as a source. Even with words like Warlock though, even though they have source on how they came to be, doesn’t the term hasn’t changed, or that its not used in a different way today. You mentioned both wice and wica (these on are that etymonline site as well) both being part of the etymology behind the word witch. But is there any evidence of an anglo-saxon group that used this name for themselves? If there is, is there any evidence we know how or what they believed and practiced? A lot of stuff I’m just tossing as modern new age occultism. Even if some of it was something else at one time what folks do today seems unrelated. I also try to dig into sources of scholars or folks like you who will share titles so I can read for myself. For example, after coming up with the opinion of modern wicca and witchcraft that is an eclectic mix that has no meaning anymore other than to be another way for folks to label themselves I’ve started looking closer into druidry, druidism, heathenry and general Scandinavian based practices. So I look to scholars like Dr. Jackson Crawford, William R. Short, Arith Härger, Dr. Ronald Hutton, Kris Hughes, The Welsh Viking, Jennifer Uzzell, and OBOD. I started writing things down for reference and either buying books or getting links to internet archive to start reading. Yeah Wizard I just kinda went off of etymonline again. Sadly like most works, it seems there was a boom in the late 1800s early 1900s. I mean I’ll sometimes find stuff like the key of Solomon, writings of John Dee and the like about older practices but rare and as you pointed out very Christian based. There are also writings unrelated in Iceland from the 13th century which are cool to see translations of. Druidry and Druidism can be traced back about 300 years, but some of the works are muddied with made up stuff which happens a lot. But yeah as far as the word Wizard goes, I see references to 1550 but no idea what books it appeared in.

I have been fascinated my entire life about him...but my father and Grandparents are no longer here to speak of him. There's no texts to support it and no ground to stand on unless you claim to be of some ancient secret squirrel society that never existed but nonetheless attempts to promote opinion as fact. no, but I believe in the olden days if you believe the route of them being oath breakers. I do believe the members of the same coven that was betrayed do. Also seems to be pretty common that teachers believe they are responsible for the actions of their students and would like wise feel obligated to step in. I remember reading and hearing others claim such a betrayal could mean death while others would do a binding. Some months ago I first found out the meaning of a Warlock but I wanted a second opinion, as it were. Before then, I always saw Warlocks being represented by males an Witches represented by females. This did change when I first played destiny being that the warlock class could be either gender, which brings me to the crux of the problem. I mostly got the information from media entertainment and Halloween and so I never saw this being discussed, I would imagine that they omitted certain information to save time or maybe research was not done to the letter or maybe I just happened to not find anything withing media entertainment that discussed this. There is one thing I have concluded since finding the truth about Warlocks... A warlock might as well be primarily a male because in the world, men and boys for that matter are seen as from a similar perspective. From allot of videos I've seen on RU-vid men are given the back seat allot of the time in the US as far as feminist extremists are concerned and even when they try to defend women, they are little more than allies that have to be quiet and listen. My point is, as far as the feminist extremists camp is concerned, males have betrayed their oath for being male.
@BlazeLeeDragon
@BlazeLeeDragon 6 лет назад
interesting perspective. though even mentioned in the video there are some groups who do infact use the term warlock for male practioners of witchcraft. it all comes down to personal preference. There really is little to no documentation and it comes down to what a person identifies with. in most cases media is just trying to be entertaining and use terms that have been heard and sound mysterious. this has been done for years and in many many forms.

Blaze, please cite extant historical texts that define Warlocks as 'betrayers of the coven'. There aren't any. Early in the 1960's an author decided to throw his own connotation of the word Warlock and it stuck. I really think it's cute when these supposed 'ancient lineaged traditions' come out of the blue quoting their super secret book of shadows saying Warlock means 'betrayer of the coven'. Then they can be seen in another video/post quoting Gardner's work as an authoritative source.

No witch is a generic term Wizard and Warlock is a masculine name and the scottish has it right! : Warlocks are, among historic Christian traditions, said to be the male equivalent of witches (usually in the pejorative sense of Europe's Middle Ages), and were said to ride pitchforks instead of broomsticks. In traditional Scottish witchcraft, "warlock" was and is simply the term used for a wizard, or male witch The commonly accepted etymology derives warlock from the Old English wǣrloga meaning deceiver, or "oathbreaker".[3] A derivation from the Old Norse varð-lokkur, "caller of spirits" has also been suggested,[4] however the Oxford English Dictionary considers this etymology inadmissible.[5]

Warlock is described in this video. Witchcraft, and either oath breaker or male witch. Wizard pure fantasy no records or evidence of existing beyond fantasy books and games. Sorcerer, those that practice sorcery. You'll often hear "caster of lots" basically those who change and weave fate. They work with the pillars of alchemy. I don't know a lot about sorcery but apparently it is its own unique magical system.

@@BlazeLeeDragon ah ok. From what I understood, scorcery is from one's bloodlines. As witches rely on books for spells. Perhaps a book of shadows of spells that have worked for the witch. The scorcer has this in its blood lines. As they can contact entities very easily. Perhaps their own body has attachments? It's like the guy in math class who's bored. Not bc he doesn't wsnt to learn, but bc he took the book home and read past all the other students. Or perhaps he's just naturally good with numbers. He understands concepts very well and easily. Another magic system perhaps may be right. I don't really see them using books. Casting of lots I've heard of. From drawing sticks and the shorter one is the chosen person, to flipping a coin. Even tossing a few sticks in the air and once it lands, whoever they point to in the circle, are the ones chosen. Very crafty and clever system. Thank you for responding bud.

Most call themselves "Witch". There is a pretty opinionated argument though. Some will call themselves a Warlock as well as mentioned in this video. I would advise learning from a tradition and following what that coven goes by if someone is interested in witchcraft. But sadly its all comes down to preference and answers will vary depending on who you speak with. If you go to the root etymology of the word "Witch" you'll find the anglo-saxon word from Old English "wicca" and "wicce". In old English (not the new age religion) the word wicca is for a male and is pronounced "wit-cha" and the word wicce is pronounced "wit-che". So really both have the same root origin word. They just dropped the "a" and "e" from the end, keeping just "witch". So not only from those I've spoken with calling themselves Witch but from the word's history as well. Now granted I've not spoken with everyone, nor am I all knowing. Just speaking from my own experience.

So what is sorcerer? And what is Wizard? Where do they fall in all this.
@BlazeLeeDragon
@BlazeLeeDragon 3 года назад
they don't fall into all this. Wizard has no historical evidence and seems to be mostly invented for fantasy. Wizard was used for learned and wise individuals back in the 1500s but I can't find any evidence of Wizard groups or it being used more then a passing phrase. Sorcerers practiced sorcery and I can't find much on them either.

agreed, but it's the one most talk about. so when magic is calling people run to the first book they can find. our society has snuff out most of the other forms and people seek guidance... I too find the frustration of being called a witch or a wiccan. assumptions are easy I suppose.

You mean other then me? I'm not 100% Even the information I have shared with you here is something that seems more suggested then fact. A lot of the information of polytheism is unfortunately. The other problem is Warlock, today is either used as the name of the practionier or not used at all. Those that use it, either have no guidance other then books and internet or are members of secretive groups. in both cases I doubt they would be up for conversations. This statement is a rough generalization and I'm sure there are other explanations.

Ah! yeah I think the majority of youtubers do not put out their email or direct contact information to avoid to much direct contact. Granted for a small timer like myself it's not as big of an issue. However for other bigger youtubers they could get buried in emails. You can send me a direct private message here on youtube or on google + if you like. Please bare in mind, yes I have studied a great deal over a number of years. However, that doesn't mean what I believe to be true is 100% accurate nor does it mean I have all the answers by any means. However I'd be happy to share what i have come across and will point out when I'm fairly certain vs what is vague or rumored only. If you go to my channel here, then about. You will find google + and a direct message option on here. Feel free to ask what you wish and I'll do my best to answer.

I am a Warlock. I tried to be in coverns, secret okkult groups and even open study groups, where i mostely taught basic skills, like meditation, tarrot, energy work, astral travel and so on. But it became clear that i did not belong. I have broken meny rules, but newer rules that i promised to keep. The thing i mostely brake is norms. Wiccans have confined norms about magick, good and bad. Rules too strict for me. At the right place and at the right time, i will even play the bad guy, if it makes 4 heroes of light wake up and start doing good. Also i thrive on fear, dispear, pain and anger, it fuels me like a drug. I will not create pain or fear, unless to push a person into positive advancement, but i will enjoy conflict and fights between people, and i find that when i absorb the negative energy between them, they stop fighting, and the energy i take, become healing, and the energy i use to help people stuck in bad places in their lives. I understand, that because i use dark energy, evrything i do to help has a prisetag. With my help comes a curse, but i control what it is, and you can curse people to learn or listen. I could write a book about this, but if your supposed to read and understand this, you are alreaddy getting it. We of the dark are not evil. Evil is a consept of the broken mind. Or even leftover kristianity seeping into the wiccan state of mind. Maby you have a better name for me, but i find warlock quite fitting. I have bin teaching wiccans and witches most of my adult life, but i dont belong in your coverns. I love the way you live, you are sertantly more interesting and more "woke" than kristiaqns or muslims, and like me you love nature and animals. But i love pain and helplesness and have people in my life, that love to give it freely. Oh yeah, and i have a soccubus frind and associate with other lesser demons. I am a Warlock. Ps. My youtube login is wrong. My name is Per, not Pernille.

Inherited from my bloodline but never practised, or identified as a believe in our family. I only found out now that my family does have the powers but always declined it physically and mentally. I have gone thru a lot and I have developed my powers but of course the demonic attacks I got had a hand in all of this. I always was the odd one out with my curiosity for these kind of things and still being young I talked to much about what was happening with me and what I went thru and now I'm being bullied, I'm being called ghosty and I just found out that my demonic attacks was the fault of my real father and his hatred for me. Sorry for burdening y'all with my whole story, I just needed some one to tell who won't judge me.

Personally I prefer the term Druid, however one of the meanings of Warlock is a Scottish male practitioner. The term wǣrloga is Old English/Saxon and means oath-breaker. Warlock was used more as an insult and even Merlin was called a Warlock by some.

The Scottish type of witchcraft your talking about is the original Druid Paganism, which only men could be druids and were practitioners of the craft of magic and they were referred to as per thier request the term worelock.

If that is the case it would have been unique to Scotland. Witchcraft and Druidry are two different practices and Druidry was not just men but women as well.

Yes.. i have heard that a coven in Scotland use the Word warLock even i can not Say it is True. However my personal though is why some male Witches use it to day ...that it may go back to when they might have been a Christian so they Broke there oath to that Path. So if that is the Case i could see Some Witches using the term Warlock. Myself i have always called myself a Witch

end of the day it comes down to what one is comfortable with. I've spoken with folks who swear it's warlocks period and witches are only women. While most folks use witch interchangeably for male or female. *shrugs* personal thoughts, is if it resonates with you go with it :)

shadow people could be a video in and of it's self. mostly not sure what they are, beings that where alive, beings from another realm, something completely unknown. on a whole they tend to leave humans alone, and only the one with hats should draw concern.
@BlazeLeeDragon
@BlazeLeeDragon 11 лет назад
completely understandable. consider however what ties someone into the label witch who is not trained? I have a few videos talking about not needing labels I feel this way because each of us have very valid and practical practices we build our selves when self taught. those that practice a tradition on the other had, become the label as it's based. If not we start losing all meaning and definition of said labels. If that make sense...hmmm I feel another video coming on :D
