The part where Geralt says "my daughter" has the most resonance. Other times he says "like a daughter" or "daughter by choice" but it doesn't weight nearly as heavy as when he says "My daughter is dead".
@SpiritualAthiest

Yeah. When the werewolf asks Geralt to take the cubs to the swamp to finish them, it reminds me of, Mice & Men when one of the characters spoke of having a liter of puppies and having to drown them in the water because they couldn't afford to take care of them. People talk about rough and evil times, but they've always been there. Surviving doesn't seem to be good enough at times.

@@ansaransar4765 It's because after Geralt finds Vesemir's medallion, he sits down and is crestfallen and soon after several monsters surround the crone hut. And in the epilogue, Geralt is not mentioned. So this ending is something interpretive , you might think he died or not . In my opinion I don't think he died, it's okay that he thought Ciri died. But I don't think he would give himself over to death to a bunch of drowners and ghouls. because if he had really died in that ending, it wouldn't make sense to continue playing with him after the credits. I already finished The Witcher 3, nine times + the dlcs and I still did 100% on his achievements, last month I went back to re-play it for the tenth time and today I finished it, making the "bad" ending for the second time

I've watched the ending credits scrolling for 5 or 10 minutes could not move almost cried, well, who am I kidding - cried =).. Damn that was a best game I ever played... Decided to go through the second time before the DLC - Baron Lived, Keira went with Lambert, Radovid won and killed all the non humans, Ciri became the Witcher, Geralt and Yen lived happily ever after. To be honest, the first ending did a greater impact. Still the best game, not the best RPG, not best of 2015 - _the_best_. This ending hit me hard. I was depressed for a week. During this time, I was going through the hardest time in my life. At the time, this was the perfect ending for me. I related to both the Werewolf and Geralt at such a high Level. "I used to dream Wolf dreams, now I dream of Hunger, Pain and Blood" This line hit me hard. At the time, I was going through a Drug Induced Schizophrenic episode that lasted two years. FINALLY after so long, I recovered. When I played this game, this hit me like a truck, I related to the Werewolf so much. I used to be carefree, But I'd be tortured mentally so bad, that I would pass out from exhaustion because I was terrified to sleep. Then with Geralt losing everything and being surrounded by hordes of monsters? I felt that. I was also completely overwhelmed by my own monsters and I felt them closing in on me every day. But one day, I decided I was done being afraid. Mentally I stopped being scared and I fought back. I conquered my demons and now I am a much stronger man than I was before. I lost 100lbs, Went to the Gym and became the strongest I've ever been. Got a great job, a brand new car, where as everyone I grew up with got stuck on hard drugs. So this ending was the most true to me. But I have to say the way I got this ending is pretty shitty. Apparently I got this bad Ending because I told her "No" when she wanted to steal a horse. Common sense. I disagree that you should have to agree with Ciri with EVERYTHING she does. That's not true parenting. To be punished for telling her "No" is somewhat rediculous. It's not so much the Players fault for the bad ending, but really, a flaw in Ciri's character. Which is fine, because I loved her character a lot, and even felt like a Father Figure to her. Which is impressive a game can give you that feeling for a Character.

The quest about stealing (or not) the horses doesn't affect her ending. She gets mad but it's not an option that affects the final. The options that do are if you played snowball with her, if you take her to Emhyr and accept money from him, if you let her talk with the Sorceress Lodge alone and if you help her bury Skjall. Still, a nice story man, I wish you the best!

Actually, you don't need to be a "what you said" to Ciri to get the bad ending. Here are some innocuous decisions that can lead to it: 1. Taking Ciri to Emhyr (after all, Emhyr was the one that told gave you the leads to Ciri, and you promised him that you'd bring her back to him) 2. Saying "you can't be good at everything" after the battle of Kaer Morhen (this seems a lot more meaningful to say to her when she's blaming herself for the death of Vesemir, rather than bringing up a stupid snowball fight which seems so random). 3. Saying "Calm down" when she is mad at Avallach. A responsible parent would want his daughter to be calm and handle the situation, rather than give in to a burst of anger. 4. Accompanying her to the Lodge. This is so weird. If you accompany her (but still stand in the back without interfering much), it's a bad decision, and if you just let her go alone, that's perceived as good. This can go either way. Letting her go alone could be perceived as not giving a damn about her, while accompanying her makes it seem like Geralt is concerned about her future. 5. Skjall.. Well, this is the clearest of the lot. If your daughter lost someone close to her, you should be there for her. So, people that said "I don't have time for this" were asking for the bad ending, yeah. All in all, apart from the Skjall one, I think the other 4 are way too ambiguous choices to decide the outcome of the game. It's as though CDPR picked a few random choices in the game to decide the outcome, rather than meaningful ones.

And, also, neither of the endings is really "happy" because, even, if you get the ending where Geralt and Ciri stay together, Radovid is still in charge and he is, basically, Hitler.......so when you are talking about the "happy" ending, there isnt really a happy ending.

I think you could reasonably be trying to play a moral character and to do what's best for Ciri and still get this ending: It would just require you saying 'You don't have to be good at everything' when she's struggling with Avallac'h's training (seems comforting, like you're helping her to stop beating herself up), going with her to meet the Lodge (seems supportive), and trying to calm her down when she wants to destroy Avallac'h's lab (seems like you're showing an appropriate amount of restraint, looking out for her relationship with her mentor). Do those 3 things and Ciri dies.

@@inordirection_ Did the exact same decisions you mentioned through that reasoning also and the ending was too damn depressing. Specially when I was trying so hard to make the best decision possible. After 100+ hours all i feel is fucking sadness and frustration man T_T.
@inordirection_
@inordirection_ 3 года назад
@@ivanrodriguez5173 I guess you could argue that those particular choices don't empower Ciri/give her the self-reliance she will ultimately need, or that while they may be decent parenting choices in a vacuum that they weren't right for Ciri, but it's tough, and what results is one of the most brutal endings I've ever seen to a video game, or any movie even at that. Still think about it sometimes even though I narrowly avoided it during my playthrough and only saw it when I read up and reloaded to change my last two choices (while I don't even particularly remember the actual ending I got). I do really like that CDPR made the game hinge on these dialogue choices with somewhat disguised importance though, making the point that while you play as Geralt, the main story is actually about Ciri. That was very clever/unique.
@ivanrodriguez5173
@ivanrodriguez5173 3 года назад
@@inordirection_ You totally can argue that those decisions can impact Ciri, the same way i believe you can say that they dont or that they are pretty insignificant... However i agree that the subtle importance CDPR gave to these dialogues is a nice thing to see in the game. The only issue is that in an average 40/50+ hours(?) you can play theres a lot of good decisions involving Ciri that completly fell into oblivion. The quest in Novigrado, skip the Wyzima visit (being supportive towards her vengeance), the interaction between her and Avallach when they scheme the last mission, just telling her "good luck" In the end... These doesnt mean a single thing yet they are as equally or even more relevant to their relationship. Btw I appreciate the answer even though im so late, releasing all these thoughts after such a devastating ending at least calms me down a bit.

I've seen somewhere that in theory all endings can be canon. You just only see one. Blood and Wind Geralt talks to Regis about finding Ciri again and beating the Wild Hunt so in canon it is after the main story line. He wouldn't piddle around with that job if Ciri is lost, but then he did let fun in Beauclaire hold him up in the books. The guys theory is that the bad ending happens, Ciri uses her time and space control to show up and save Geralt. She begins the Path and joins Geralt. Eventually she feels a void (kind of a push since it's all she know but there is always the unavoidable fate idea), then she assumes control of Nilfgaard.

bruh my first ending was almost this, except that I made Cerys queen...I hated myself so much because I couldnt understand the game's hint what options should I choose to make a happier ending about Ciri. Also , forgot to kill that bastard radovid, that hurt the most

That song at the background, i think it's called "White Orchard at Night", is a beautifull masterpiece!

The development and voice actresses behind the crones were incredible. I love watching all the alternatives I would have missed in my own 2 play throughs.

I like how Geralt sets up her stein and toasts it like "I told you this would be great, huh?!" HOLD MY BEER, BRO!!!

Seeing this after beating the game and achieving the 2nd ending is hilarious. Especially, seeing one of Ciri flashbacks to where Gerald decided to receive the coin from the emperor.

I don't believe he died, his sword was on the floor in front of him, he can still use signs, yeah he was broken at the end but it's Geralt..he wouldn't give up and just die at the hand of monsters..

He might have killed himself though.

Kristjan Suuder again, I just don't feel he's the type of character to do that, plus in the other endings you hear about how Geralt has settled down and had a quiet life in the epilogue at the end but in that ending it doesn't even mention him, as though his story hasn't finished

Very true, you never know. I just thought that losing Ciri might just emotionally wreck him and cause him to do things he normally wouldn't do.

Kristjan Suuder that's true, I mean a guy breaking down in tears who is stripped of emotion from mutation shows how much that affected him, I guess time will tell (I hope)

The DLC was developed after the base game was finished...at the time they created this ending, pretty sure the point was that he died. What with the chrone saying she can smell "the breath of a suicide", and the fact that we see a monster run into the actual house (not to mention the ones clambering on the roof) and Geralt doesn't even lift his head, doesn't reach for his sword.

I honestly feel out of all of the unique characters and settings they inhabit. The Crones were so well done; I remember feeling such anticipation in meeting them as well as a sense of fear...

Didn't kill the werewolf. It was awesome of him to come back and help Geralt against the last Crone.

This is absolutely haunting, and I love it. This is phenomenal. From the sheer emotional destitution of losing Ciri, his daughter who he'd do anything for - to lose that and continue on... It's more than understandable how he'd let it end like this, clutching the sole reminder of her left in his world. It's so poetic even Dandelion couldn't write anything better, good on you CDPR, for creating a story so engrossing and absolutely enthralling that most of us can't help but feel overwhelmed.
