Its also based (loosely) on real witchcraft/perceptions of witchcraft through the ages Like the christian magic (folk witches use the bible and bible phrases), the pagan holidays (beltane, samhain..), there's a lot of stories from witch trials of "witches" being accused of summoning storms, sylva (the stuff they use to fly) was mentioned to have Ingredients that were commonly believed to helo witches fly, witches Mark's etc etc
There is variety of faith among the witches of this universe. work, that's how spells are called in this universe and that work is a form of Christopagan healing spell, although it is a bit risky since it works by transferring diseases to the witch who does it, although it heals quickly
Magic is a very flexible thing, for it recognize power in sources of strong belief. Because of that, there is a multitude of ways of casting magic, using whatever way in which power can be channeled and worked - and this includes witches that use Christian symbols and rituals for spellcasting.
This show is set in an alternative universe, in which witches are born with the vocal cords that can perform the works, in our universe it would be called casting spells; they did not worship any deities or demons to get their powers. As Christianity is a male centered religion and persecuted witches, it's considered as a pagan religion in this show so Raelle chanting Biblical verses to perform fixing is a taboo, but her fixing actually worked through her voice, not what she chanted.
@@edmundliankalang5925 based in this world, in which magic is linked with a fungi, the only close aproximation for it would be for weapons and ammo being forged from metals that are laced with this fungi - like blades and bullets. And here is the thing that people don't get: a firearm would not need to be magical, only the ammunition. Also, in this universe, I could easily make a blade that can vibrate in the counter-frequency so it can nullify their attack spells, and other simple technologies that makes their spellcraft practically useless.
I hate to say this, but looks boring. And I happen to have always enjoyed stuff like this. I think it is more a matter of overkill. Too many of these shows to the point that they all look alike - unimaginative. A single movie would have been better, I think. TV series tend to become long, drawn out angsty ... bleh.
@@edmundliankalang5925it's set in present day in a universe where the Witches that were needlessly killed could work magick differently. This is based in a universe where paganism is the prominent religion
