Absolutely you both made it make sense💯 👏😂and then you got RU-vid community guidelines restricting 😮certain comments from the collective like a 😢time out while these tarot readers and their Titles they post are extremely toxic and harmful. Stupid on Stupid. Good job 👏 You guys … ❤

I am relatively new to the tarot tube community as a viewer, and I've already been disheartened by some of the content creators. I've noticed they breeze over when they get the deck for free by doing a review, and they are continually promoting new decks without giving any real feedback about the 500 others they've reviewed. To me, It just starts to feel like a hussel instead of authentic when they continually promote. And dont get me started on how often some of these creators use some form of the phrase, "in all honesty," because people who use those phrases multiple times throughout their video, I've found are the worst offenders when it comes to the hussel of pushing decks instead of actual helpful information about a deck. Just my thoughts, so far :) I enjoyed this conversation!

Honestly, is there just more exclusivity and snobbery on social media in general now? I keep seeing influencers in different industries offering exclusive access to this and that, exclusive “inner circle” and “by invite only.” 🙄 I swear it’s nothing but a marketing gimmick. The things people do to make themselves feel important and better than others. I agree Martyn, I haven’t seen a new deck that interests me in about six months.

Short answer: yes. I took a decade long break due to life and when I got back post-pandemic, seems if you aren't part of the 'cool kids (mostly young gals, I'll say it) on Witchtok, IG or TT/YT' it's like don't bother. I realized immediately I don't have enough silk and candles and smoke machines and shiny new decks to show off every other day to bother with a channel. I'm too honest and don't give a crap about cost or looks over content.

@@steffymuzeI watch political readers, who are mostly older, and, don't really go for the glitz. Some of them do tarotscopes or answer online personal questions, and, a few do private bookings.

Also, it’s not just buying decks anymore, many are starting to sell guide books separately which is even more money and to me, it’s a bit unfair, especially if a guide book is only a little less than the dang deck itself. This is becoming a fast trend now and it’s just more money needed to be shelled out to fully understand those decks. It’s kind of like, “well I know you spent $95 on a deck, you’ll get a fair good guide book included but to really have comprehensive knowledge and to get the full experience you need to buy the companion book.”

The community just has to say, "NO!" to the the gauging of the pricing that has been going on with both mass market and independently produced decks. We just have to stop buying them.

I remember the mishegoss about Chrisanne's 10 of Wands card, i looked it up. It sounds like she was concerned that some people could possibly be triggered by an image that suggested abuse connected with slavery. Others considered the image to be representing the Yoruba culture's custom of making cuts on the back and face, and referring to the trauma of the pain caused during the process. It had been important to some people. Im sorry that she got that degree of harrassment over her choice to change that card image. I notice, though, that the new card is still in the deck.

I’ve watch people declutter certain decks (who liked them) for the sole purpose that the cardstock was too glossy & difficult to see on camera, that’s it. I get the RU-vid/social hustle to an extent (I do not like Fakebook) however, when it becomes this peeing contest where there’s this desire to constantly have the newest, rarest, priciest, decks and who spend more time taking photos/making videos of their “hauls” instead of actually using those decks as intended, that’s where I feel a bit disheartened. There’s nothing wrong with collecting, that’s not at all where I feel there disjointed disconnect, it’s when these decks are simply used as props and to form certain chips on some peoples shoulders instead of using them for actual divinatory/their intended purpose is my quip. When people spend more time setting up perfect photo shoot lighting, props, pairings, everything drenched in the sparkly than read their cards, it sets an unfortunate tone. There’s free downloadable templates one can print out on some cardstock and boom, a deck. I love collecting & buying, don’t get me wrong. However, mass market and their marketing and the cesspool sh*t that sometimes is made and getting more & more expensive is irritating and the groupings of those who are tarot snobs and spend far too long recording hauls getting 27 decks a day (exaggeration but Im Sure somewhere that is true lol) it really takes away the beauty, purpose, wisdom and experience of what Tarot cards are & the wonderful guidance they bring. That experience happens the same no matter how rare, expensive (or not) a deck is. Great video, guys. A breath of fresh air thank you

I think the unhappiness with the fan decks stems from people contacting the label and requesting illustrated minors. Then, their next deck comes out, and, its those damned pips-again! I have Labyrinth, because of David Bowie, the pips are at leasr cute. I also have Stranger Things, that isnt quite as pip-ish,and,the art does acgreat job of capturing the cinematography of the series. They probably should have waited, until the series is completely over, and added some other characters from season 4 part 2 and the upcoming ( eventually) season. I like the illustrated Buffy deck, but,it needs a revised booklet. Theres a Star Trek Tarot based on TOS, thats fully illustrated with scenes from episodes, and is * spectacular*! Ill probablupy never own it. I dont think I'll buy many more new releases. I've caught up wirh the ones I wanted, and may keep an eye on mm Bonestone.

Love you guys! ❤❤ Though I must add that definitely not all printing cost a few bucks, sadly. Which is what is often believed. If you print in smaller quantities like 50 or 100 decks per time (which you probably do if you don't have a huge following or Kickstarter to support you, and you don't do pre-orders) and you print locally, not like in China, the cost of one deck will be about 10-15 euros, and this is not including boxes, guidebooks and stuff. So just to put deck on the market you will need 20-30 euros for one deck. You can only print "cheap" locally if you print 1000+ copies, which not everyone can do, because the starting price adds up to be huge, sadly.

I can’t stand buying decks with no guidebook or pdf guidebooks… just another way to increase profits because they charge the same price for a deck with no guidebook. There’s no price break and sometimes they are priced even higher without a guidebook or pdf. A deck is not worth it to me without a guidebook. Wonderful discussion and definitely material worth the space on YT. Also, a bit peeved that everyone had recently been featuring and up talking The Bohemian Gothic which is oop and expensive… then once the reorder/reprint came out some big channel YT-er decided to get rid of it… like what was going on here? If felt disenguine. Wouldn’t that be sneaky if a creator/publisher set out limited decks at a mid range price only to keep some and then later sell some as oop to increase profit. I wouldn’t be surprised.

Those are pirated decks from China. If it has a PDF guidebook with a QR code , it's a fake rip-off deck. Don't buy those. They hurt the entire community.

What if including a white book goes against the intentions of the deck and has nothing to do with pricing? I spent over two years creating my deck and was going to make a white book, but my deck is so unique, the point is to have the reader jump into the unknown for a dangerous tarot adventure. Including a book for such a style of deck - which is intended to help unleash your creativity- is like inviting adventurers to the edge of an unexplored jungle, then handing out maps to all the easy paths and nearby resorts. Don’t limit yourself. Take up the challenge.

Wtf I was all kinds of salty and said so on Kickstarter with many people questioning it as the mass market due to this the freaking mailing label said us games and the New England address. it a supposed collectors edition and the mass market will have four less cards big freaking deal of course people were rude to me saying I got what was promised no I didn’t want nor was marketed as a collectors edition I’m not a collector really so why do I care?
