I could watch Netflix for free, but I haven't bothered to in over 2 years, because it's mostly extremely low quality propaganda. I highly doubt that any game they make will be devoid of that as well. If Amazon can barely breach into the market then I doubt Netflix will.

Amazon suffered from the fact that the person they put in charge of the project was utterly incompetent. Really didn't understand the games industry. Knew nothing about the development process and quite clearly didn't understand the market either, and consequently kept making incredibly stupid decisions. It was a disaster, but nothing inherent to the organization or project. Giving him the boot and hiring someone competent would have solved most of their problems.

In all honesty, I think Netflix’s venture into gaming will basically be a new and improved FMV type of experience. If Bandersnatch is any indication of what Netflix wants to do, I can say with 60% faith that I’m interested to see what they do.

There’s an entire generation of kids that got hooked on Roblox during lockdown. Not because it’s good, but because it’s free and works on a ton of platforms (PC, mobile, Xbox) with cross play. None of these younger gamers have to repeatedly ask their parents for a game as all their friends have access to the same 1000 games in front of them. Netflix can compete for this generation as most all of these kids’ parents have Netflix accounts. There’s a scenario where Netflix hook these kids and keep them subscribing for the rest of their lives. I think it’s a great play for the media giant.

Why do it on smart tv’s when you can implement the current Netflix app on PS5, Xbox etc and use existing console hardware (controller) to play your games, that makes more sense but it may be more of a challenge to achieve.

5 years , i don't think so. But it's a huge company with deep pockets ( or credit margin ) and overtime they absolutely could add mobile games but "at no additional charge" is definitely not gonna hold if people flock to the Netflix store.

Amazon, Disney, anyone who has adopted this model is right there with them as king of trash as none of them have brought a thing to the table. We aren't customers anymore we are consumers. It's not a product anymore it's content, doesn't matter if it's good or not just consume.

If they target women, they will succeed. Especially if they go with June's Journey and Homescapes. Women lap that stuff up. My sis runs an association in JJ, and she tells me her group is full of elderly women around 50-65 years old. Tons of women would totally play stuff with Netflix if Netflix fulfilled their match 3, home decor, romance desires. Ex. a finding object game that ties in with Downton Abbey, etc. Women can be whales in those games as well (check out some of the suit costs for Love Nikki). Just saying.

You know, I disagree with the idea that Netflix viewers wouldn't play games if available on Netflix. Mobile gamers usually target the casual market, and Netflix would be a good conduit to deliver games. I totally see Granma playing some clicky game after finishing watching her Korean soaps. Heck, I already have a Netflix subscription, and though I rarely watch it on my phone, I'd click on a few mobile games that aren't mxt-ladden crap.

Mobile games are more likely a competitor to Apple Games. And I doubt that will even work. Netflix is bleeding subscribers not making expected money quarterly and if that continues gaming is not going save them. If integrating gaming into a current subscription service was viable Amazon Prime would have done it with Luna. Which actually is a gaming streaming service, not questionable unknown mobile games. Prime has around 45 million more subscribers in North America (120 million total) than Netflix has (75 million). Netflix outside the US (130 million) is spread over a large number of countries but nowhere as consolidated as the US where the money is at. Believe me, if Amazon thought it was viable, they would have done it too with some type of integration. I can guarantee whatever mobile gaming Netflix does it will be like most of their content now. Trash. Especially if they are doing it for free. I don't know their plans but Free for even a semi-good service is not sustainable. At some point, you will have to charge. Unfortunately, history tells you can't give away a service e for then take it away and charge. That will fail. Or more likely they will just raise the prices for everyone and that will push away more subscribes. But free is an illusion. It will cost at some point. What they should do is take the money they are going to sink into gaming along with a lot of that trash they mostly produce now and call Netflix Originals (mostly not really originals) and stop buying up TV shows from other nations that even people in those countries didn't watch. Simply stop with that trash filler and take all that money and put it to real content. Netflix used to take risks. Other than a few shows Netflix really doesn't have content and is becoming like a 1990's Cinemax with their content versus HBO (aka HBO Max, Disney). It is becoming too easy to cancel Netflix for 5 months and come back when that one or two shows you care about start a new season and then cancel for another 5 months. Harder to do that with Disney or HBO Max at the moment.
