GE Profile Spacemaker beeps randomly, the reminder feature activates by itself, the buttons aren’t working, and you might get the keypad shortage error message on the screen.
Before you give up and throw it in the trash, try this fix and you might save yourself a few hundred bucks. If it doesn’t work on the first try, do it again a couple times. Be sure to use vinegar as that helps to clean the ribbon better. I go about 1 year before the keypad shorts again, and then repeat the ribbon cleaning for another year or so of use. Call me crazy, but I’d rather do that than hassle with removing the whole thing, buying a new one, and figuring out how to install it. Above the range microwaves aren’t the easiest to remove or install, so I’m doing this repair trick for as long as it keeps working.
