The even more crazy thing is the secret service perimeter team spotted him like an hour before with a range finder, radioed in that we have a potential suspicious person and then lost track of him. They were warned about him a full 30 MINUTES before it ended up happening, there were civilians all over the place screaming, there had been an officer who had a direct encounter with him and simply didn’t follow up(?), and the building he was on WAS FULL OF USSS AGENTS. If reports are correct, the officer who saw him and ducked when the gun was turned on him was A. Being boosted up by another local officer, and was using both hands to pull himself up and had no way of accessing his weapon. And B. Was a local LEO, who had been assigned traffic control by the Secret Service, so that he's the one who eventually checked it out is just nuts. I just listened to a PA County Commissioner who said he has the receipts to back up Secret Service assigned locals to traffic control in the form of procedural plans that were submitted to the county.

He didn't use the ladder, nor was the rifle out at first. The rifle was likely hidden in his backpack. The problem is that they recognized him as a potential threat despite this, but they were too incompetent to do anything about him. He was apparently using a rangefinder to scope out all the counter-snipers, and the snipers all saw him and reported him. Then, a cop thought he was being suspicious and reported him and took his picture. Anyone who saw him thought he was up to no good, but nothing was done in a timely fashion.

I´ve heard Trump wanted to reduce size and power of the FBI and to subject the FBI's chief to the president of USA, in the sense or reporting every donut they eat (no secret stuff going that the president doesn't know or approves.) Also, he wanted to locate and arrest FBI personell who were involved in crimes against national security and or interests. Likely, some people in the FBI were not too happy about it.

Sadly, I think there is a breakdown on how the comms works. Though, we think it is simple to just call up on radio. Most times local pd don't have the same comms as Secret Service so there has to be an agent that monitors local pd radio then can put it on their radio for Secret Service. Hopefully, there will be a public briefing on the failures but we know that won't happen!

Though, I suspect we will see a lot of finger pointing on this one. Butler Twnship has 12 FT patrol officers. 4 were doing traffic control. Allegedly they left their posts to intervene or talk to bystanders. Local PD should have requested additional towns to help or State. SS should have halted rally if outer cordon was understaffed until extra security was in place.
