The real question is... will the DYNO survive?
A couple weeks ago, the Scalar Performance team took the SCR1 to its very first dyno testing at Utah Motorsports Campus with Revolting Performance.
Jordan, owner of Revolting Performance, has been in business for 15 years working on ICE cars, however this was the very first time he strapped an electric car to his dyno. The purpose of the testing was to test motor cooling, and other battery cooling strategies, by running the car under continuous load, and collecting data using thermal guns, sensors, etc.
Halfway through testing, the team had to take a break because the dyno's eddy current load generator turned BRIGHT RED; the SCR1's motor has so much torque that it was overpowering the dyno's ability to generate load.
We've learned we need to make sure the dyno has advanced cooling strategies to match the SCR1's advanced cooling! All in all, the testing was very successful, the team was able to pick up data points that could not be captured on track, and will now comb through this data and continue to build the best performing car possible.
