It’s refreshing to witness Pope Francis working to change these age old traditions. I believe he looks after our needs spiritually but also our needs in the here and now. I pray for Pope Francis’ health so he can serve for many more years.

I Love the change in the rule... However, I have to ask how do you meet a wife after 5 yrs as a Swiss guard in the Vatican?? Well, they are all ex-military, so they have their ways... Great video!

the unmaried part is when you join the swiss army, but you can have a wife after that.....with certain conditions,she has to be catholic and so on

Armour is heavy.thr helmet weight 9 lbs.alone .in summer will just unbearable

They are replacing the metal helmets with 3-D-printed plastic ones with hidden air vents. The replacement began in January of 2019. Also, the metal helmets weigh, on average, 4.5 pounds, not 9. The PVC helmets weigh 1.25 pounds. (I said "on average" for the metal helmets, because they were made at different times with slightly different construction.)

Luckily, they get to attend school outside the Vatican so that they have some small sense of what the real world is like, and be around other kids that aren't so isolated. They are not going to be protected by those gaurds and walls their whole life. It's sad actually.

Many thousands of children and teens around the world attend schools far away from their homes and do just fine in all respects. Sending a child to an expensive boarding school also isolates them from "the real world" and from non-elite children. Those ivy covered walls and private security do not last forever, either. At least these "Vatican children" are with their parents, teachers, siblings and friends every day. And they get to live for a time in Rome, Italy. Nothing to be "sad" about. It is what it is.

And you know this how? What other insightful theories you must've stored in that brilliant mind of yours, I wonder? The Catholic Church is not an overnight rags-to-riches story, that it should suddenly become money-minded. It was always extremely well-off, and I daresay it is economically less powerful today than at any other point in its rich history. That said, the Church has used its vast resources throughout history for the well-being of mankind. It has been the backbone of Western civilization, and remains a prime mover of social development in Asia, Africa and elsewhere in the third world.

We have married priests in the Catholic church from the very beginning. We still have married priests, do your research before you spew ignorance .the numbers of married priests are small and MUST remain small. Celibacy was started by Jesus Christ himself and celibacy MUST continue

@@ransomcoates546 The Eastern Catholic church have married priests. The Roman Catholic church have married priests who were converts. Once someone receives Holy orders and ordained to the Catholic priesthood, he can Not marry. Cannon law is clear on that and the Pope cannot change it. What do you know about the Catholic church? I understand the discipline of celibacy and I have been a Catholic all my life. All Roman Catholics are Catholics, but not all Catholics are Roman Catholics. Do you know that? Of course not! Because you think all Catholics are Roman Catholics. The name of our church is One, Holy, Catholic and apostolic church. Eastern Catholics can Never be disregarded!
