Great video!!! I have to tell you what a cleaned/sharp looking track!!! If you don't mind me making a suggestion...What about a video where you show how you connected your variable power supply to your track? or how the controllers are connected? I am sure that your subscribers will benefit from that content! Do you have individual lane power supplies or is it shared? Thank you!
@roomrenting8584

Sorry I just rewatched your other video where you speak about your controller and track wiring and you say you have independent power supplies for each lane. I would really enjoy watching how you did the powertaps and all the wiring...great clean job by the way.

I don't seem to have a preference between end-bell cars and brush barrel cars. Each has it's advantages and they both require their own tools. It's so easy to work on brush springs and brushes with a Storm but the Vipers have a much larger brush footprint against the com. 440x2s are a little tougher because their barrels are closed so they require a complete tear down to switch out brushes or springs. Tuning end-bells seems more difficult to me than tuning open barrels. Also, Storms are really designed to be Lexan body cars. I think Wizzard just offers the hard body on them so you can race them out of the box. I don't use the Wizzard hard bodies. I'm a Lexan guy. Probably a holdover from my 1/24 scale days. So much weight reduction and I love painting Lexan.

Good info, thanks! I guess I am just used to the Super G+, BSRT G3, Viper chassis the most as my sets came with Super G + when I bought them. I am also a Magnatraction chassis fan boy, those were the cars I had as a kid in the late 70's early 80's.

I did some checking on the Storm Extreme. The Traction magnet strength doesn't seem to be posted anywhere, so I call the company. It's N42 half height Neo magnet. So I guess that it wasn't a fair comparison to the V1 V-spec car which has C4 level traction magnets. Would be interesting to see how the non Neo Storm perform:) As long as that car has been out, there just doesn't seem to be much about it's performance online?

@BigRalphSmith
@BigRalphSmith Год назад
@@livewire114 To clarify, you can run almost any HO Lexan body on any HO chassis with pin posts. All the posts are a standard width. Yes, different manufacturers place their posts in different locations so if you want to run the same body on multiple manufactures cars, they'll probably require multiple pin holes. Except for the caveat mentioned here, SG is correct. Any standard HO Lexan body can be set up and cut to fit any post type chassis with any wheel base.

That was surprising. I would expect the V-Spec to be quickest. Have you tried Jag Hobbies 227 cars? They are very fast and they handle amazing and they are only $35 each.
@marksslotcargarage
@marksslotcargarage Год назад
The VSPEC is a faster chassis but it is harder to keep on the track. The Wizzard really sticks to the track!
@MyFlash43
@MyFlash43 Год назад
I think you have the Storm Extreme. If you had the C4 magnet based regular Storm, then I would like to see it compared to the V-Spec. Was just talking in general on the post, but since you asked:)
@marksslotcargarage
@marksslotcargarage Год назад
I prefer the VSPEC over the Storm I have, it seems to run smoother and is a bit faster to me. What I would really like to test is one of the Wizzard Fusion cars, I think I am going to order one of them and compare that to the Viper.
@MyFlash43
@MyFlash43 Год назад
Which Fusion would you get? The brush barrel or end bell version like the v spec? I agree with you on the v spec vs storm, I like the v spec better to. Guess it’s because of my Tomy years with the Super G +. The storm is more based on Tyco design. I’m interested in playing around with it just for learning purposes. I’m looking forward to playing with the brush adjustment. I thought these cars would also be good for playing on the track with my family, newbie friends, and mainly grandchildren since they look robust, might need to drop the voltage some, lol. I do also plan on setting them up from time to time as Thunder Storms by exchanging the traction magnets for weights just for fun. I have 6 v specs now and they are going to be my main race cars for lexan body racing. I also will have a hard body class for the Super 7 and a hard body class for the Bulldog, our low cost class. Most people that buy a storm, buy the storm extreme. It’s hard to put those cars in a fair class due to those 1/2 height N42 traction magnets that come in them. I just want the C4 magnet based storms myself, that way, they could race in a v spec class with lexan bodies or I could upgrade them to level 10 racers later if I wanted. You are also right about the storms looks with those toy looking bodies. I’m going to put a GTP spoiler on them, strips and numbers. That should help. I’m getting them in the four lane colors of my viper track that is still setting here in its shipping box, lol.
@marksslotcargarage
@marksslotcargarage Год назад
@@MyFlash43 You need to get that track going...lol. I think I have the Storm Extreme as well, it's traction magnets are a lot stronger than the pro 4's in my Viper VSPEC. As for the Fusion, I am not sure, that hood system looks interesting but I know the endbell type better since as you said the Super G Plus and Viper use a similar endbell, I have to think about it. I agree the storm does feel like it can take a beating and would be a good track car to let kids race.

The Storm X car is very fast and fun, yet I would rather race cars with no traction magnets to slow the pace down and actually get some drift and rubbing action. Aurora T-Jets Fray style at 14 volts, now that is racing.

Hello, I also have that same wizzard, color and all, just got a v-spec in the mail, it's unbelievable fast, but, won't stay on track, now i'm running a 19.5 v 3.3 amp power pack, is that too much, or , is it that my controller, an older Parma is the wrong ohm, don't know what it is . Thanx so much!
@marksslotcargarage
@marksslotcargarage Год назад
Hi im, The VSPEC should have good traction, I am surprised to hear you can't keep it on the track. I run my track at 18.5v, the amps is not a problem, the more amps the better. The higher the voltage the faster the car will go so you could try turning down the voltage a bit. The VSPEC is a 6 ohm armature so you will want a 30-40 ohm controller. Does the car go too fast as soon as you touch the trigger? If so you have too low of an ohm controller. I run a variable type of controller from Difalco that lets me adjust the sensitivity for just about any ohm car. Hope that helps.
@im5150247
@im5150247 Год назад
@@marksslotcargarage Hey, thanx for the replay! And, lol, it WON'T stay on the track, it's a rocket! But, did some research on the controller, as far as I can tell it's 1 to 10 ohms at the most, so, iv'e ordered a 45 ohm, hope that'll do the trick! Oh, and yeah, it's way too non linear, all my cars jump of the track, even my lIfe-like!
@marksslotcargarage
@marksslotcargarage Год назад
@@im5150247 Yeah that is way too low of a resistance on your current controller, 45 ohm's should work well.

@marksslotcargarage
@marksslotcargarage Год назад
@@im5150247 Glad the 45 ohm is working well for you, it should be good for most of your cars other than the Mega G Plus, and if you get into even lower ohm cars closer to 2ohm a 25 ohm controller would be better for lower ohm cars. That's why I use the Difalco controller with the variable resistance, it let's me use one controller for all my different ohm cars.

I agree with you there, the Wizzard body is actually more of a thicker plastic compared to the Lexan bodies on the Viper cars.
