Hearing you say your a fan of Fleming, what are your thoughts on the new owners and how they have cut corners on woodworking on interior? no paneled doors,no more round doors,no rubber gaskets in doors. They have gone to veneer . Now they look like the rest.I find it sad to see.greed.thoughts??
Some great advice about checking listings everyday and be ready to jump. There is no "can I make an appointment next week to see the boat". Like you said, if it's a "Priced Right" boat you gotta be the first one to see her.
I have said this so many times..trust Capt. Paul. He is giving a lot of examples of current people he is working with but I am a proud extremely happy owner of a trawler that Paul helped me buy. We went through many surveys I was in love with the 42 Grand Banks. He was so helpful and guided me through the process and I ended up with a Albin. If I would have reached out to a different broker I am positive I would have spent an incredible amount of money on a boat that would have been pushed on me. Paul does not push he honestly advised me and now I am extremely happy and I am fixing up my trawler…2nd AC install almost done!!!
I have a buyers agent. I shop boat trader and YachtWorld and send him links. In most cases he has shown them already and was not impressed. What I'm finding is that if it's in good condition and offers good value for the price, it sells quick. If it's been on the market more than a month, it is either overpriced, junk or both. We are not looking at the bottom of the market either. We can go up to 300K and still having trouble finding quality listings. We are finding that the older boats are generally in better condition than the newer boats. Most of the newer boats we've seen have been badly neglected over the years leaving a very long list of deferred maintenance. Listing broker says to make an offer, but I'm reluctant to do that when the boat is so overpriced and I know it will fail survey.
How do you join patreon? Can't seem to find a link for it and may want to join. Thanks skipper! I am probably 1-2 years out for buying a boat (saving my pennies).
