Glenn Ryle was the announcer on this sign-off...when TV stations did such a thing. This one for WKRC-TV, Cincinnati, comes complete with the singing of "This Is My Country" -- evidently the 12" version!
Because it was customary to use the music package your station purchased, in all station identifications... news, news briefs, sign-on's, sign offs.. WKRC wasn't the only one to use "Part of Your Life" in its promotions..WTVC, Chattanooga... WBTV, Charlotte... WSM-TV (now WSMV), Nashville....WMAL-TV (now WJLA), Washington... even KAKE-TV, Wichita used "Part of Your Life." They all used it.
A wonderful TV station sign-off piece! This is the first one I've seen that used the logo of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. And it also features the 1965 version of the NAB's Seal of Good Practice.
oh god!, i remember this from when i was a kid. i liked this sign off and the wiii 64( the i's of cincinnati) sign off. very cool and it brings back alot of memories. thanks
First time I have EVER heard "This Is My Country" for a sign-off. Most stations would play the National Anthem or America The Beautiful. Others would play "My Country Tis of Thee" or "God Bless America." Got any more sign-offs from Cincy? Would like to know how the other stations did it.
