A couple of little modifications which make the v911s a bit easier to fly. Less twitchy.
Details and buy here www.banggood.c...
Please be careful if attempting them as there is a chance you could damage the heli if you aren't good at fiddly little engineering work! So work carefully please if you want to try them at your own risk.
These are the Overlander Lipos www.overlander...
And this is the RC Groups thread. www.rcgroups.c...

"You need a steady hand" hahahaha - great vid thanks for the info. Glue works yes but most screwdrivers are magnetised but when they aren't I just stick a small neo magnet to the shaft and it magnetizes the whole screwdriver - essential when working with small systems like this.

Just received this model from Aliexpress. Not flown yet but have done the mods you have shown here. Did them in reverse order - swash plate first, then popped off the links to the servo and changed the arm hole mount then popped the ball joint back in. I do not have much luck with small screws so did that to avoid loosing the screws. Anyway, thank you for your tips and keep up the great work. Happy New Year from Invercargill, New Zealand.

Nicely done! I've seen quite a few V911s videos posted by folks who have not taken the time to learn how to utilize all of the transmitter functions to properly trim and save settings. You perfectly explained that. And the other essential adjustments you made really improved the V911s behavior. My "hanger" is out of space and I'm not actually looking to expand the fleet, but for a $40.00 ship, it's really impressive and hard not to purchase one "just because"... I hope anyone who purchases a V911s finds your fine video. Happy flying!

@@bobflyman V911s protocol has been hacked a couple of months ago. With the latest firmware updates you will be able to fly this with a multi-protocol module equipped Tx. That protocol is also used on the XK A100 series 3-channel planes. (A100 jet, A110 predator, A120 A380 airbus, A130 cargo, etc.)

These are great tips! Thank you. It was definitely easy to loose control of it at first. I tried it in my kitchen first and that was a mistake. It swung into a cupboard and busted the tail. Fortunately it was right at the base, so I pulled the broken piece out, and put the rest of it back in. So the tail is about a half inch shorter now, but it still works! But I bought a few spare tails online just in case. I bought this for my 7 year old son, but I have a feeling he's going to put this in the top of a tree the first time he uses it.

Thanks mate, and yes, it is a handful even just to get a stable hover. It was my first 'proper' heli' , others were contra rotating types. Easy! The mods help a bit but it's not easy to fly indoors. I find it OK outdoors if there is not a lot of wind. Might be good to start your 7 year old with a twin rotor one? I had a Syma that was great to fly and survived until the board went down. Could try that? I've never done a video on them. Thank you for the info on 'hover debugging.' I started out with a helicopter that required about 16 ticks right and six or so back on the tx in order to attain an unstable hover. Even with the trim, it was _very_ twitchy and the response to inputs was quite unpredictable. 10 full turns of the aileron push rod screw, had no noticeable effect(thanks to the gyro undoing my 'fix' in order to 'level' the fc no doubt.) I took apart the rotor head to see if there was anything strange, and noticed that it took some force to insert the swash's guide pin into the anti-rotation slot, which didn't seem right. After only a few flights, it was already generating plastic dust and starting to wear down the pin. I measured the pin at the point of contact as being almost 0.1mm larger than the slot. With an emery board, I sanded the slot to fit the pin, finding that the heli's response seemed a bit less twitchy afterward, but still not even close to a stable hover. Like you, I noticed that installing the battery caused the fc board to tilt diagonally. Two loose o-rings got the foam under control. Still the heli wanted the same amount of right and back trim and still no stable hover. I just followed your 'hover debugging' procedure, and now she sits stock still(wrt roll anyway) with no tx trim, and is much less unpredictable. She still slides forward and back, and likes to thump her tail a bit, but I feel comfortable enough to do circuits inside now, which wasn't even close to being true previously. My swash now looks level at rest, and the servo horns are neutral with no input, as they should be. Thanks again.

Brilliant mate! Part of the fun of these cheap little flying machines is getting them to work properly. Mine was at max right trim and still going the left as well. Hey Bob - did you ever get your hands on the Eachine E119 which I suggested? 🚁🚁🚁 Great heli and appears to use exactly the same layout, albeit slightly larger. VERY easy to unhook the servo arms without touching the screws but by moving the linkages in closer, they also raise the swashplate ever so slightly. Again, easily compensated with a few turns of the threaded connector before snapping it back onto the ball joint! 😉

I use a small magnetic screwdriver instead of prit stick but I’m sure I could use it for other things like lube! That small helicopter looks like a turd compared to my XK 130 because when you move the sticks the whole upper parts of the head move from what looks like the plastic balls as well as why it moves in flight like it does. No disrespect at all but this all you are doing is decreasing the movement of the swash plate, making the heli alot easier to control but you are losing all your range of movement, okay for starting out but you soon be craving more. I found it much better in the advanced swash setting and controller setting out of the box, the yaw i found particularly slow on these heli's but this obviously has nothing to do with the swash.
