This is a stunning looking plane, great detail and with small led's
pre installed. As a ready to fly complete package its hard to beat. The controls are great and you can even try mild acrobatics while still having some amount of gyro stability.
My only criticism is that I expected a little more power, those times when perhaps you find yourself in a near stall situation it would be reassuring to have that extra punch to help 'save your pants'.
If youre looking for a relaxed scale flyer that can take soak up a few knocks then this is worth checking out.
You've come to the right place to get independent, honest and real life reviews. We love flying planes and want to share our experiences with fellow pilots

How goes it Paddy?! 😉😂 First things first Dave - put those 4-bladers away for display purposes only. They break too easy (or worse bend out of balance!) Get a few 6mm bore 7x5E 2-bladers off of Ali. You can use several hub adapters to fill up the over-long spindle or, better still, trim down the first buggered-up 4-blader hub. Makes a BIG difference in performance on 2s with MUCH less throttle needed for quite sprightly flight. Just check on battery/ESC/motor temps. We're currently running 6x5.5 2-bladers that work quite well in the Summer heat here. If you want to go to 3s you'll have to add a buck converter to break down the voltage to the 2s (8.4v max) that the flight board needs. That flight board is a good-un (but glue down the rear tab on the only-1-screw-holding-them-down servos) and small enough to use in a lot of small plane brushed to brushless conversions. 😊

Cor blimey mate, jeez that’s a savage amount of information to be offloading on a simple gombeen paddy 😂 🇮🇪 …. Haha Honestly though, that’s really solid advice about the 4 blade prop. You are right that is too floppy n soaks up the power, so I’ll take your advice on the 2 blade setup. Big thanks buddy for that. I know you literally live on the other side of the world but it feels like you’re right there with me when I go out to the field - Party on 🎉

I did this 3s conversion. Using an APC 7X4E and a 3 cell GNB high voltage 380mAH battery, and this from amazon "4Pcs Mini 360 Buck Converter Mini 360 3A DC-DC Voltage Step Down Regulator Power Converter Adjustable Power Step-Down Module 4.75V-23V to 1V-17V RC Airplane Power Buck Module". I got 4 of them for $8.00 and tax. They are adjustable output with a tiny potentiometer. Wow. With this set up, This A280 is nearly out of sight in seconds. It doesn't even seem to fade on the way up. You can still putt around at less than half throttle for five or six minutes if you choose, or about 3 minutes of insanity! CG and weight are not affected significantly with this mod. In my case I opted not to use the stock esc, using an old 12 amp Afro esc from a quadcopter instead. Did I say this thing has huge power? It has HUGE power, and this using the stock motor.

I like this plane but the gimbals feel "spongy" to me. Also, it banks to the left in 6G full assist mode no matter how much trim I give it. Flies just fine in 3D and "senior" mode. The power is also an issue. There's enough power, but nothing left in the tank for emergencies. I think what this plane needs is to be bound to a real RC radio, like a Spektrum or Radiomaster transmitter. The build quality of the plain is superb. Very durable and rugged (except for the landing gear). I got mine for $107, including shipping. For that price, it's a fantastic plane and I'm very happy with it.

I agree 100% with you- great plane but radio is a bit too ‘toyish’ and a bit more power would make it awesome

2 blade prop and a 90c battery will give you the power you want.

I’m modifying mine to go faster and have more stability since it’s crap, still I’m keeping it to fix it for better flying like the AeroScout glider

Maybe you’re suggesting a 3s 200mah battery- instead of 2000mah? In that case It might fit but I would be cautious about overloading the esc.

@@rcpilots1291 ok, thanks for the info, but the one printed in the battery is 2000mah 11.1v 25c and its the same size with the stock battery
