@@underwriter100 Hopkins was far smarter about it. He always held in a way that made it look like his opponent was initiating while he could throw with the opposite hand. This is literally straight hugging

@@abrahamigunma I agree. Joshua needs to work on his movement and he recognized that against Ruiz in the 2nd fight. AJ is smarter than Peter and has a better grasp of boxing fundamentals. He too must improve his ring generalship and not only depend on power.

Peter Samuel was a good fighter, a bit as Bermane Stiverne (same age, similar style, huge talent, they sparred with each other), but both were too lazy fighters therefore they were just for short on the top.

I made a highlight reel of that guy. Feel free to watch it on my channel. If you wanna know some interesting facts about him, journeymen Marion Wilson who fought the likes of Shannon Briggs, Tyrrell Biggs, Ray Mercer, etc and was never knocked out in a fight said that Peter hit him the hardest. James Toney said Samuel peter is the hardest hitting heavyweight he has ever fought.

Dude... the press was crazy biased in the reporting. I too just watched this and realized Peters gave a great performance. If he had a better coach and used an all attck strategy, klitchko would have been clearly knocked out

I couldn't agree with you more. They call boxing the sweet science for a reason. If Samuel could have dodged the jab at least he probably would have won this fight. Sure he can take a punch. But it's not a matter of how tough you are. It's a matter of how smart you are.

Fun Fact: Wladimir Klitschko said that Samuel Peter had the best chin out of every fighter he has ever fought. The strongest punch that Wlad threw was a left hook that wobbled peter but not enough to drop him. He also said that left hook was so hard that he broke his fist.

Peter took better & harder shots compared to what purity took. third, look at their reaction, purity was consitently staggered by Wlad's punches while peter barely showed a reaction. Like seriously, look back at Wlad vs Purity and Wlad vs Peter 1. I can asure you that Peter took better shots and the way he handled it was WAY better than Purity did. Wlad's form on his fight with purity was SOOO terrible compared to the Wlad that peter is fighting

He still punches really hard. It just shows Peter is limited and one dimensional. Overall he displayed power and a rock solid chin.

Wlad won more rounds... simple as that. Wlad even landed twice more punches than Peter... 204 to 100. It's sad people like you only pay attention to knockdowns instead of looking at the whole match picture. All judges scored it 114-111... meaning Wlad about 8-9 rounds compared to only 3-4 for Peter.

I haven’t seen the whole fight so I can’t say specifically for this fight, but you can definitely win a fight mathematically even if you get knocked down 3 times. Let’s say a fighter wins 8 rounds but is knocked down 3 times by another fighter. Let’s say the other fighter wins 4 rounds, 3 in which they got a knockdown. They would still lose because the score would be 113-112

I've been wondering too, withholding all Klitschko's good jab, Peter didn't go down, despite the punishment if these jabs he was able to knockdown Klitschko not once but thrice and someone called this luck, please explain...cause I'm lost here...in today's era if you scored even a knockdown against your opponent you'll most definitely win

He won 1 of the belts (wbc) i think because he was a real talent. He however did not have the discipline 4 longetivity & more achievements. We his country men hear of him drinking, eating a lot & generally messing around when he wins a bout. No self control per say. Talent is definitely not enough.

Hed he used your advice, he would have been on the floor all the time. If you want to watch brave (but stupid) fighters go to street. This is SPORT. Hit and avoid getting hit. That is boxing. Vladimir was not for average pub guys who after their fifteenth beer wanted to see savage fights, but for those wjo understand the sport. You don't seem to be amongst them.

@Ronny Blogs I had no issues with Vladimir winning. If he had done enough, why not. And if Peter did anything illegal, am sure the ref was there to sort it out either by warning or points deductions. However, that was never a (unanimous decision) win.

Saving his career is a stretch. Who in the 2000's beats young Wladimir without it being a Corrie Sanders situation? David Hayne is pretty much the only guy I can think of besides his brother. Wladimir did tons of jabbing and holding, before Steward. Steward's big ticket was teaching Wladimir how to hide his jaw better and work on his timing. Also, it sounds like you're trying to downplay Wladimir. You can pretty much thank every fighter's trainer beyond the year 1920 for their success. What would Ali, Bowe, Patterson, Fury, and Tyson have been without great trainers? Gatekeepers, at best. Very, very few fighters can be a one man band a succeed without the help of a great team, which is why a lot of modern mma and boxing fighters thank their team after fights these days. The trainer might show them how to do certain things, but the fighter is still the one who has to get in there and do it.

Tyson was just some street bum, until Cus turned him into a killing machine and even then he immediately began to rapidly descend into mediocrity once Cus passed. Muhammad Ali with a different style than the unique one he used would've gotten him murdered. Imagine Ali trying to sit down on his jab and plant his feet to back up Liston like a traditional boxer... he would've had developed the shakes from that one fight alone.
