A great little film of Madison, WI WMTV Channel 15 would show for their station sign off in 1986.
I've loved this song for 25 years and just found out the tune is by Ennio Morricone and called "Days Of Heaven" from the 1978 movie of the same name.

Saw this almost every weeknight while attending UW-Madison. This sequence was called "Atmospheres" and was photographed by James Higgins.

WMTV also had a signoff with "Fanfare for the Common Man."

Gosh, that's right. I forgot about the " Fanfare for the Common Man " sign off. I believe it was also late 70's, early 80's.

I’m trying to find the one with Fleetwood Mac’s “Albatross” being used. Definitely was the 70s. I think there was one using Pink Floyd’s “Echos” also.

Wow . . . remember this well and was fun to watch some 30 years later. I was in high school at the time, I remember I would often record Late Night with David Letterman (on VHS), after which WMTV went off the air.

Same here. This actually came out in 1980 or 81',.....not 86'. Brings back great memories...

Nice, they had the same owner as my childhood CBS affiliate WSAW channel 7 in Wausau. I'd love to be able to find a WSAW sign-off, I used to be scared of it but wish I had a recording now. I do have a recording of the sign-on which included 15 minutes of easy listening and jazz music over the test pattern.

@brushfour44 Thanks. I just found out last year what that song was from too. Wanted to know for all these years. The 1986 year was not meant to be the year the video was made. It was the year I recorded the station sign off. But you are right, I remember seeing it run a few years before '86 too.

Ohh...I see. So it was RECORDED in 86'? Gotcha. Yeah, who could not be from Madison or Dane County and not love this. I grew up about 2-3 blocks from where most of these scenes were shot; University Bay, Walnut Street, Picnic Point, Memorial Union, etc. This of course is the theme to the 1978 movie " Days of Heaven," written by Ennio Morricone.
