There is just NOTHING better than that 11:00 p.m. open, not before or since.

The voiceover announcer for WNBC's 5 o'clock newscast, Live at Five, was former Saturday Night Live announcer Don Pardo back then!

That's not Prdo. Pardo only did Live At Five. This announcer was Fred Facey.

This was Tony's second time at WNBC. His first time was 1972-80 when it was News Center 4 before being traded to Channel 2 (he will return to 30 Rock by '86). If you wonder about Jack Cafferty, he was traded to Fox 5 to anchor Fox News at Seven.

Never understood why they had an opening with lighting seems kind of stupid, but that me. Also didn't Tony Guida worked at WCBS as well?

Yup, Tony Guida did work for WCBS-TV as well. He moved to WCBS-TV sometime after "Live at Five" was cancelled, and he was reassigned to the morning newscasts.
