I got chills running down my spine and tears of nostalgia in my eyes watching this! Those were the days; those days of rare talent, creativity and originality are sadly long gone. WNBC Channel 4 is not the same nowadays, especially without Sue Simmons, who along with Chuck Scarborough was one of the major faces of WNBC Channel 4. I vividly remember watching 'Live At Five with Chuck and Sue'. I used to tune in every evening after work. Those were the good old days!👍 #Forever4NewYork✔
@@stukazzo8026 I believe they actually released this song on CD through a phone number on the screen to call way back then of course it is long out of print! But I've been looking everywhere online most notably ebay for a copy and no such luck! Lost media now I suppose? Damn! 🤔🌇🏙💿
You know something I have some memories of this song when I first visited New York back in 1992 and I agree it's a catchy song and it also sounds motivational.
It's amazing how the years pass. I am only 36 (born 1987) and I found myself humming this at work--and NOT ONE of my coworkers knew what I was singing! Even the second-oldest behind me in my department has no memory of this--and he's 31!
Lmaooooooo wow u right 😂 Jay Leno was my man hated Letterman til I got older .. n I only watch ch 7 now but back in these HS days I only watched ch 4 & ch 9 out of Seacaucus for some reason lol
I remember this song being stuck in my head back then and still think of it when watching channel 4 News now in 2019. I didn't realize it was so long ago! 🤯
FABULOUS. Really caught alot of the essence of New York City. Each time I watch it, it seems like I can see something new. Great fliming, editing and love the characters used. Wonderful diverse faces of NYC from all over the world. Tune I still have never forgotten, Probably the best TV channel promo I ever saw and they used all of the News Center 4 people as well....
I feel like after 9/11 New York slowly lost its New York spirt. After Hurricane Sandy happened it seemed like New York was gaining back their New York spirt with the Sandy concert but then you realized that they didn't. It's sad because even though New York is still great, amazing, and fantastic I don't think it will ever gain back it's New York spirt like it shows in this video.
New York has changed over the years and it’s getting worse especially with all this gun violence and people living in fear of their safety it’s so sad that nobody is doing anything about it.
I remember this. Looking back this ad was so weird considering the time period. Made the city look like it was some magical carefree place when it was anything but.
this may be an old advertisement for NBC4 and NYC herself...BUT today is November 1, 2009...and the ING NYC marathon brought the world to her streets....and not for anything but an American won the mens division..WAY TO GO MEB!
Recently the new ad's are playing in the Taxi entertainment network and a quick search found all of those "vintage" versions. I think they are so "New York". Thanks for posting. I love watching the optimism and fun they portray :)
this year, June 2012, marks the 20th anniversary of "4 New York" (the song/branding). Hopefully they'll bring back the campaign this summer along with a logo change to celebrate.
WNBC revived the campaign following the 9/11 attacks. The city recovered from the event greatly, but the recovery ended in September 2019 even though it was barely interrupted during the 2008 financial crisis. The reason why the recovery ended was because of the repo market collapsing. Five months later the coronavirus pandemic began and the climate crisis is going to devastate New York much worse than anything else.
In This Video Clip Of WNBC-TV's We're 4 New York Video Promo From Summer 1992, The WNBC-TV's On-Air Newsteam At The Time, We're In It, And They We're Len Berman, Al Roker, Chuck Scarborough, Dawn Fratangelo, Sue Simmons, Ralph Penza, And Carol Jenkins.
Kiyema, There is a 'WNBC 4 New York' version with the Twin Towers presented with an excellent view. Check out the 'WNBC-We're 4 New York-Higher-Quality tvarkofficial video, labeled 3.50 minutes, there you'll see them not once but twice. Hope this helps.
🚨ch 4 def needs to throw this on the air whenever they got some extra mins to spare or even right before the 11pm news .. mann I used to luv Sue Simmons pretty eyes as a kid
However, the campaign wasn't popular with New Yorkers. It was criticized for making the city look like a generic Midwest town. That's no surprise, since the GM of the station came from KSDK in St. Louis, where he made the station NBC's strongest affiliate...and image promos were an integral part of his plans.
yep, I was recording the Barcelona Summer Olympics and grabbed this on tape, still have it. Still looking for the ABC promo (We Belong Together) that ran during the 1986 Statue of Liberty 200th. That one as good or better. PS 86th st in Queens IS at the end of LGA runway, hence the really low plane.
This is how I imagined America to be back in 1993 in former Soviet Union, and it was, for the first few months in 1994/1995...but then it slowly went downhill to where we are right now.
abderaman alzemouri Propoganda or not, the hope for the future was there - everything was improving with every passing year, that is until 2001 and that's when shit really hit the fan.
You're thinking of the 1980's. The Transit Authority eliminated grafitti from trains by like 1989 or 1990, and it probably helps that the trains shown were among the newest in the system at the time of this being filmed.
does anyone know where on here where the KSDK St Louis version is?...I remember seeing it on here a few years ago. It is the one the GM put together before heading to NY
Well there was a limited pressing of the song released at the time, but you had to call to order it back then and I'm sure it's now a highly prized collector's item now if you're lucky to a copy now?
