Wood is the only one that's you should always invest in my opinion for the health upgrade. Otherwise your other elemental upgrades should be based on you're weapon of choice since that will boost their damage output. You just modify your gameplay slightly based on that. I ended up using a grade 4 staff because it has a wood focus will also being boosted by metal and water. Also for spell usage I found that the spells that imbue your weapon with a certain element are the most practical. Since countering elements is actually extremely important in this game and can make or break certain boss fights. I ended up almost never using the martial arts moves but that's only because my build made them counter-intuitive but if your weapon boosted by fire and earth then by all means fully lean into that side of the game. Also bows, cross bows and, repeating crossbows are extremely powerful if you boost the water element. You can essentially one shot (with head shots) everyone except the boss and mini-bosses with them. The amount of depth in this game is actually crazy the more I play the more I seem to learn.
@@ronansmith2566 All deflect consume ki to even use, it's just they recover more back so it's not a concern. You might notice it if you spam some spells and have your orange bar completely full and you try to reflect an attack you'll notice it won't go through since you have no ki to use it.
He is pretty annoying. I learned when he has his lightning buff just to kite him around until he does his red attack then deflect it to knock off his buff. I also use an earth build to deal with him. I just drop rock pillars in front of him and he always run into them lol.
What always irked me for this game is that only the player is limited to 2 Martial arts per weapon whereas EVERY OTHER HUMAN ENEMY AND BOSS AREN'T some like Zhang Liao and Lu Bu can use several different types on the same weapons
I kept calling the player character Wu Kong. It wasn't until i fought Lu Bu that i realized i was not going to be a monkey king. Im playing with a water & wood build my stealth is high enough that i can walk up to the front of an enemy and they don't notice me unless i attack them.
Yeah, they really know how to make a good combat game. They also know how to make games that make me want to bang my head against the wall, such as this game and Ninja Gaiden 😂
When I can have a pvp fight and it at one point just sounds like metal clanging back and forth with the parries and the arts and magic going off in every which direction and it lasts more then 30 seconds I'm happy I can't be mad at that because it's literally come down to the wire most of the time win or lose I had fun
Nice video as always! Question,do we have do get all the battleflags AGAIN?Even though we already have completed that level once or more? If it is,this gonna make me feel boring very fast, whenever I decide to farm XP or Gear…😓
So the red stat helps with attack right your quick attack button but with spirit buildup to can blue do the same but instead of spirit build up you gain more stealth attack
3 main problems I'm having so far: Not being able to parry cancel in attack animations is driving me crazy. The regular soldier enemies all look the same but have completely different parry timings. The camera and big enemies bug out in small spaces.
Ive played further into the game. Same issues ive listed above, but now I have a few more to add. The game just screams unpolished. Graphics are all over. Look at the water in the stage with Sun Ce / Quan. This has to be the worst water I have seen in a AAA game since the ps2 days. The draw distances are also abysmal. Frame rate is bad. This is a ps4 game running in pro mode. The gameplay is boring as hell. Its the same thing for every enemy, just different timings. No special counters or anything. The level design is derivative. Just large empty spaces over and over. Enemy design is non existent after the first 5 hours. All the characters are bland and have no heart or soul. Its impossible to care about any of them. With the level of depth in the Romance of the three Kingdoms Saga, this is a huge missed opportunity.
That's why i just land few attack and the wait to parry , not spaming attack then parry at the middle it's more like dark soul where every attack count
@@chocho6766 the thing is, that works in dark souls because each attack has impact. Here, your normal attacks mean nothing other than generating spirit.
Second boss is broken on PC. You canmot parry him all the time it jiust does not work sometimes like t you prress the buttons nothing hapoens you just stand there like an idiot. Sad to say the game needs work it is not playable in its current state
So... weapons and armor upgrading. Is the only difference between the 4 star armor and weapon drops in the beginning of the game and the 4 star armor and weapon drops on the very last level before the final boss, just the upgrade level? Because I'm wondering how do I know what armor or weapon I should start dumping upgrade resources into? Are their 'better' options later on? Should I really be dumping those upgrade resources into anything if the gear starts dropping already upgraded at +3 (where I'm currently at)? For weapons I know synergizing my build with the best scaling possible is the obvious start, but beyond that it's picking favorite martial arts and...? I'm just leery to start using these resources if it's something I'll end up regretting later on. Any suggestions on when to start building, or what to look out for?
Number of stars and upgrade level (+1,+2, etc.) aren't the same stat and aren't linked directly to one another. The ☆Star stat may have other impact than this, but from what I've observed the main difference you get from higher star number is that these equipments will have more Special Effects slots (the bonus modifiers that gear/weapons & accessories have, i.e. Spirit Damage Received -2.0%/HP +10, etc.). These effects are an important part of your loadout, so it's always better to go for the highest Star rank equipment you can get that also fit your needs. The Embedment function at the blacksmith is where you can really customize stuff to fit your build and playstyle. There are some Special Effects that will only appear on some gear that give powerful bonuses like "HP restoration on Wizardry Spell"/"Power Gain when deflecting Critical hits", inspecting new gear that you loot while on the salvage window of the blacksmith will indicate (bottom right of the screen) if any of these Special Effects can be extracted from a piece of equipment, which you can add to your inventory by either Salvaging the item (which destroys it and give you upgrade materials + the Special effect) or by going to the Embedment window, choosing an item > select embedment slot > highlighting the slot with the desired special effects and holding the select button to extract it. It will now add an instance of it to your inventory, which you can embed to another piece of gear. Different types of Special Effects can only be added to specific types of gear tho (a certain type only available for Head Armor, etc.) One last thing to note for this customization process is that the highest Upgrade Lvl an item is (i.e. +5), the higher the $ cost of embedding custom effects to it will be, so it's advisable to doing the embedding before upgrading equipment with steel/leather to boost its lvl & stats Hope this can help!
I played pretty much all souls likes. And in this game im after the Tiger buddy how tranformed....and im not able to deflect one single crit from enemys!! On xbox it says press B at the right time.... not even by exident it workt one time....i dont get it 😔
My big question is if the buffs in each tree scale with your virtue level. Like will I get more healing from siphon health skill in wood if I have 50 points instead of 10. I know damage scales but curious about the buffs.
@@TakerAndy magic isn't very strong if you're not constantly deflecting prior to casting, which makes it kind of pointless, but if you want to spam them at minimum damage and dodge more, then it will work; just takes way longer.
So.... I've been searching on RU-vid, and on my browser, but can't find any mention of it. Anyone able to tell me what the other number is after killing an enemy that ISNT the Qi? For me it's usually a bigger number. Granted, I just started playing. But, I have no idea what it is, or what it's used for. It pops up underneath my Qi when I defeat an enemy.
I have the levels and points available to learn the higher level spells but I can't unlock them since there's a ???? Lock behind it. I have the skills prior to them in the tree progression aswell. Is it story progression locked?
I wanted to create a bow or crossbow build but it seems that you cant stack arrows past 10 and bolts past 6. I tried buying more when my arrow/bolts were full. I was able to buy them but then couldnt find them in my inventory.
well, nunchakus are commonly used in japanese martial arts, and this is based on chinese mythology, while it would be fun to play with nunchakus, makes sense that they didn't add it
@@jdennis867 Bruce Lee is a modern martial artist.... the game is based on Ancient China and add in fantasy elements...well nunchakus are not fantasy enough xD
Game would be amazing if they fix the combat. The parry mechanic is broken it works 50% of the time. Not sure if this is just a PC issue but it is virtially unplayable on PC.
Sadly the socond boss is broken you canmot beat him wothout cheating. You will see plenty of youtubers do it like its no problem but they are using a hack because blocking or deflecting just does not work sometimes. It worked fine in on the first boss but second boss is def broken.
Take your time and farm morale and qi. It may take you a little longer, but farming the mobs will get you good practice with the mechanics and net you a stronger character when you reach the boss.
I spend 3 days with the first boss, he defeated me 72 times I beat him today after watching this guide I quit Nioh and thoght Nioh 2 was different but it was the same cheap game I regretted buying those games I did not want to get this one but I hope I can somehow learn how not to suck at wo long as well.
Team ninja makes games with high skill ceiling. It's not your typical darksouls attack roll attack roll bullshit. There actual combo strings evasion and parries/perfect timely guards etc. This game is much easier than nioh 2. It's similar to sekiro in parrying but not nearly as hard.
Bro it's all made by the same company lol soul type games are hard first soul game I beat was Bloodborne and that game was alot harder then these games
The Nioh games are genuinely brilliant (IMO) and considering how cheap you can get them, it's like the bargain of the century!! Whereas souls games you can pick your style / class and play right through and the new games aren't actually vastly different as you level and accustomise but with the Nioh's if you're the kind of masochist that likes to get through those NG+'s - it's a serious re-stat - re-gear - re-think your approach. Potentially not selling them well but they are well worth putting the time in I'd say :)
@@troymedley5042 this isn't titled as wo long bosses, it is titled beginners guide. So people would click this video without knowing that there would be boss spoilers...
I was interested in this game but I haven’t gotten it yet cause I wasn’t good when I played Sekiro and figured I wouldn’t be good at this games deflection system either so I’ve been waiting as of now and watching videos of people playing. I know where my weaknesses are in games. I wouldn’t want them to make the game easier. If I want to see the story I’ll watch people in RU-vid play the game to see the story.
This game is significantly easier than Sekiro. The 1st boss was pretty hard but after him it's a breeze. Not sure why they made that guy so tough because it's not a good representation of the bosses going forward. You have ai companions to take the heat off you as well. Just follow fightingcowboys guide.
@@Based_investor oh kk. I have to try it out then. My problem with Sekiro was no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t get out of the Dark Souls/ Bloodborne mindset. I kept constantly trying to dodge enemy attacks and when I did try to deflect enemy attacks I would deflect one of two but then get hit 2-5 more times. When I saw and heard this game was heavy into deflecting enemy attacks I was like ohhhhhh this kinda game. Looks like I may sit this one out cause I remembered how bad I was playing sekiro.
@ineedmoneysp sekiro has a cheesy gimmick that let's you smoke pretty much any enemy. Just spam the crap out of the parry button. It almost always perfectly parries. It won't work on some bosses like owl or isshin though. Those are hard skill checks.
@@robofish312 Fun fact, this game does in fact take place in the dynasty warriors universe and you'd know this if you played dynasty warriors. There are many bosses in this game that are playable characters in previous dynasty warriors games.
When it comes to bloated mechanics, this game takes the cake. Like God damn what were the devs thinking? It is kinda fun in a messy all over the place way but Sekiro is miles ahead of this mess.
Good tips but not only spoiled a ton of bosses but also spoiled all of the divine beast. Like cmon bro you really coulda did without that. You coulda at least put a spoiler warning at the beginning so we would know
Looks very complex, but then I realized not many ways to play the game, it's just button mashing, all builds play the same, all weapons feel the same. That's why Elden Ring - Souls is still the champ.
Your commentaries don't sync very well with the video. i feel that the video is just you showing off your character's power while you blabber about the other things. i have a hard time trying to focus.
