Klay had the same injury during the same series and still isn't his former self. They're trading a healthy player, and should get nothing short of a "boat load".

Im pretty sure contracts are signed by more than one party. The team probably promised that they would give Kyrie the max when KD signed his extension. Teams can offer as large a contract as they do in large part because they can trade a player when the opportunity calls for it. A player is worth less money if he is untradable. The reason the NBPA hasn't fought for no-trade clauses is bc very few players will consider leaving millions on the table in exchange for not getting traded. This is one reason that NBA salaries are the envy of the world, and getting into the NBA is literally better than winning the lottery. McCullum didn't have a say in getting traded this season, but the Blazers and the Pelicans and the NBA are better off for the trade, while C.J. will collect his $33 mil next season and $36 mil the following season. He's the president of the NBPA and hasn't proposed no-trade clauses for the reasons I just mentioned.

@@MrDammit7 the raptors have never had any drama in the franchise. And the raptors were kds favourite team growing up. He loves being in Toronto he has some of his best games in his career there. I can see masai stunning the world jus how he did with the kawhi trade. Even if he wants out in a few years, the haul the raptors could get back for him is worth it.

When KD left OKC, that should have been his destination. Excellent management and two all stars by his side in DD and Lowry. That would have been the perfect scenario for him.
