Siakam was a great Championship winning Toronto Raptors player, he will do really well in Indiana, 3 picks and then some for an expiring contract is fantastic. Scottie is going to get players that fit their style now.
The Haliburton effect. I love to see it. It's been awesome watching the Pacers this year, and while this is probably not gonna be their year to win a title, they have a legit chance to get there in the near future.
It's so nice we are in an era where teams and players are cooperating to keep the league balanced. We aren't seeing as many superteams and we aren't seeing as many instances of guys finding out on Twitter they were traded. Seems like the NBA is kind of back to normal here and small market teams are making nice moves. Pacers have been making great trades with Haliburton and now Siakam. It's a lot more fun seeing what teams give up for players as opposed to people just running around trying to play with their friends. Actually takes some skill and negotiation and the league stays balanced when there are trades.
Super teams are good for the league, the league needs a villian it hasn't been a more intesresting time in the NBA than 2016-2019 and 2000-2004 tryna watch teams beat those sqauds and play harder makes it more fun
@@hooligan5381 was it really good for league when we all knew it cavs vs GSW in finals? What’s the point of watching 82 games when we know how it plays out 🤷♂️
@@dabu8701 we all know in every super hero movie who they are going to fight at the end for the most part, don't make it any less epic matter of fact lebron's duel with the GSW team will be looked back on as LEGENDARY. the best player going against the best team? Can't write a better script.....
@@dabu8701 superteams have always been apart of the league tho in all sports. we need villains in sports and it made teams play harder cause they wanted to beat them. it was great entertainment and those Cavs Warriors finals have been the best since the 90’s.
"i'd be remissed not to mention Pascal Siakam stole 3 candy bars at age 7 and pled guilty to petty larceny & Bruce Brown was on camera yelling at his children during a little league game." -Malika Andrews
Don't sleep on Brucey B. He's an all-around two-way player. He's a locker room guy. A glue guy. An energy guy. Every team needs an A+ role player like Bruce Brown. Not sure he stays in Toronto, but whoever has him on their team has a winner. I would have like the Pacers end result better had they moved Buddy (who may be slightly better offensively but not near the two-way energy guy) over Bruce. Offense won't be their problem. But who knows, they might move both.
@@byt865its nice to dream but reality is Philly is better knicks are better and do you really believe in a 7 game series you will beat Milwaukee no but if you do you are lying to yourself but anything is possible!!!!!
Good trade for both sides ... nicely done, management! Pascal's been a great soldier for the Raptors, but deserves to be on a near-term contending team. Toronto needs to rebuild, and everything they're doing seems headed in the right direction. 😎
Why no one talking about Toronto. They got 3 picks and brown . Now RJ , Brown , Barnes , Jakob that’s a great defensive 4 . I feel like they won those deals big time . As a bulls fan I’m not happy how good Toronto will be
@@StevenEatsAlone OG and Siakam were picked in the 20s lol. No one understands that Toronto has a good reputation of developing higher picks through their G League team.
@@lefou5850 that’s great and all but it doesn’t change the value of the picks. I hope they get good players though but people thinking the pacers got fleeced are dumb af
@@lefou5850plus Toronto can basically never sign a free agent because no one wants to go to Toronto so draft picks are the way that a team like Toronto can get stars. they could probably get atleast 1 star out of 3 first rounds picks
Win win, Raptors would have lost him in FA. Pacers has money to offer him what he wants in FA, also with the success and fit with the team Siakam is gonna stay at his age not worth him going to a rebuilding team. Major contenders don't have the cap space to sign him. this is a perfect situation. But we shall see. As for Raptors there weren't going anywhere this season with it without him on the roster. Either way he was gonna walk in FA so a 3 FRP is great return.
The scariest part about the Pacers is they still have assets to make another move or 2, plus Pascal has made it clear he wants to play with Hali and intends to sign an extension with Indy. Not sure another big move will happen for them before the deadline this year, and if that’s the case, I think the Pacers ceiling is the ECF…. although even that will be tough for such a young team that still lacks much defense outside of Pascal. But if they can maintain their young core and make another big move or 2 for good defenders who can at least shoot even if they aren’t great offensively, that’s what it will take for Indy to take the next step and really be able to contend with anyone including Boston in the East. Indy is gonna be scary next season if they continue making good moves like this. They are starting to look like the OKC of the East.
@@rowlandroderickpiper he may have loved the city and loved living there and had hoped to stay there, but players as good as Siakam who already know they are going to get their bag and aren’t worried about the money start to prioritize winning above even any loyalty and connection they may have to a certain geographical region. The Raptors are continually trending down towards full rebuild mode and Pascal doesn’t have much of his prime left to make a run which he can be a major contributor to. Indy is young, incredibly talented and incredibly deep and on the rise and still has the ability to make even more moves to improve their roster while retaining their young core. They are in infinitely better shape than Toronto to start making deep playoff runs for the foreseeable future. He can still live in Toronto in the offseason if he wants.
Analysts are so dumb. This team was solidly the 4th seed with the best offense before the Haliburton injury. Add Pascal to that and he says “they’re a first round exit IF they even make it.” What????
Considering Pacers record will steadily improve over next few years and those 3 first round picks will end up being late-rounders, this feels like a good deal for Pacers as they were able to keep Mathurin. That's a potential starting five of Haliburton, Myles Turner, Siakam, Benn Mathurin and Nesmith. No one shorter than 6'5... and lots of scoring...
The best part of this trade is that they kept their best role players in Jalen Smith and Aaron Nesmith. Also kept Mathurin (which whom they WEREN'T going to trade), even Obi Toppin, who fits better with the Pacers than he did in NY. Kept Isaiah Jackson too. Pacers reshuffled their lineup a few games ago in hopes of improving their defense. That seems to have worked as their defensive rating in those games is somewhere around 16th as opposed to 29th. This will make them even better defensively while keeping the offense humming.
LOL, these "Smart Analyst" aren't smart. Check the Pacers record against ALL the teams mentioned. Go ahead... take a look. Boston, Philly, Mil, and NY Knick.... 8-4 this year. Don't match up... LOL.
Big salute to one of the greatest Raptors ever - top 5, top 5, top 5! 2019 and 2020 were two incredible years, P-Skills went from being the boss of the bench mob to a perennial All NBA guy, his jersey should be retired at ScotiaBank arena next to VC, Kyle, and Demar’s
Three firsts was a great haul considering what Washington got for Bradley Beal. After seeing Siakam during the Championship run, I've been saying he's the most underrated player in the league. But by now I think everyone knows what his value is. A 23 and 7 guy.
@@aznnp77 that’s because the front office of the wizards are absolute clowns. Both pacers and raptors have competent front offices, this is not a absolute highway robbery by any means, but it’s still a good trade. Siakam is a top 30 guy, his name isn’t flashy, but the dude is efficient and plays winning basketball. The nba is more than just about a handful of big names. The pacers two frps this year were never going to see the floor the next two years, they would have been in the dleague wasting away, you accumulate assets to a certain extant and then you move those assets for better concentration of talent. The amountbof young talents the pacers have, there’s no reason to continue accruding more young assets. At some point, you have diminishing return.
Austin Rivers says Pacers below Knick’s after Hali cooked them, beat Milwaukee 4x, and split games with Philly and Boston. They added Siakam pretty much and only lost Bruce Brown
Indy is an upset waiting to happen in this year's playoffs. They got Mil number, they beat Bos in an playoff type atmosphere in the tourney, and they beat Phi earlier this year. They will be a tough out
3:03 I hate that line of thinking, you gotta focus on the in season stuff first to get to the post season. You gotta build upon your foundation and all that happens in the regular season. Respect amongst teammates is built in the regular season, good habits is built in the regular season, learning teammates strengths and weaknesses is built during the regular season and more importantly learning what your team is capable of is learned in the regular season.
& it’s already reported by his agent that the chances of him re-signing are high. This is a GREAT fit. Hali, Buddy, Nesmith, Pascal, Myles TJMC, Nembhard, Mathurin, Obi, IJax/Jalen Smith. Tyrese has a secondary scorer/playmaker when he’s being double teamed. Nesmith now gets to guard 2s and 3s instead of 4’s. I get the feeling that Indiana isn’t done yet either, as it’ll be hard to find playing time for Pascal, Obi, Jalen, IJax, & Jarace. Look for Obi or Jalen Smith to still be moved or packaged for another defensive wing role player. Exciting time to be a Pacers fan!!
Hope they keep Jalen, no matter what. He's the starting 4. Siakam's the starting 3. Nesmith moves to the 2. Hali is the 1, with Myles the starting 5. You have Benn, Drew, Buddy, Obi, and Jax coming off the bench. Pretty good line-up.
Great move by Indy. Love how balanced the league is getting. That being said, I can’t understand for the life of me how the league & specifically ESPN continues this year after year disrespect of the Heat. We’re talking 4 years of eliminating all the “top teams” yet we’re never mentioned lol. It’s almost like this is an intention of ESPN. Anyways, I like both the Heat & the Pacers to take out some of the usual suspects of “top teams”.
@@baldeagle4710 Nah. They were lucky last season because Giannis was out for 2 and a half games in their series against Milwaukee. They're done in the second round this season.
if myles turner can be myler turner. i got them over the bucks. if the pacers meet the bucks come playoffs i wouldnt be shocked to see the pacers not only win but possibly sweep. thats if myles can be that 18-8 great defender he has shown us he can be.
This is big for Tyrese. Now you have a pic and roll partner. Can rebound defend shot blocking. Can score from 3 levels. Gives you length with turner. Now you have a top 5 PF Raptors you have Barrett Barnes so now you are strong at SG SF. You can build around them .
he mentions now they need shooting… lol, shooting was the one thing the pacers did not need being top 10 in 3 pt attempts and 3 pt shooting %. I also think one thing that will really boost the Pacers is getting consistency out of Mathurin, he occasionally breaks out for 20-30 pts and then has a game with 2 pts, consistently getting 15 off the bench out of Mathurin would be very valuable
Pascal fits the team very well and he’s has a defensive presence so god help the Celtics, bucks and Sixers if siakam helps the pacers defensive rating and points allowed bump up a couple of spots.
Miami is one of the top teams in the East. I hate they always talk about Boston, Phil, and Bucks. At the end of the day Miami will have the last laugh by making the east finals again. I hope is Miami can/will trade Kyle Lowry.
Third best team in the east now, adding a true top flight professional, a guy who scores 10 more points|gm than Brown on a team that averages 122, and add more size to take on Bucks/76ers, great move. Simply play Nesmith 30 minutes a game at the 3, looking forward to see how much better we can play…
Siakam is a very good player but he's not clutch and i won't hold my breath when he takes FTs when the game is on the line. Masai did very good, 3 2st round picks + 2 1st players and 1 2nd round player. Raptors can use these draft picks to get good prospects too.
Pacers have, statistically, the best offense in NBA history right now. How are they not in contention with the bucks when we just dominated the season series against them. Pacers have beat both 76ers and Celtics but they still say they are a lesser team…
Unfortunately he's not the defender he was during his 1st four seasons. Horrible defensive rating the last few years. And considering defense is the Pacers biggest weakness I'm not sure he's the best fit. Hopefully for the Pacers I'm wrong and he gets back to playing better defense. He obviously has good length to be a good defender as he showed in his early years.
He is a good defender. Raptors team overall was trash on defense so it skewed everyone's numbers. Even OG, who is top 5 defender in the league has bad numbers.
@fringe_minority wait... So you're saying they had a top 5 defender in OG and Pascal is a good defender but the Raptors defense was still bad 🤔 But seriously, pull up each players defensive rating and him and OG have two of the 3 worst on the team 🤷♂️🤦♂️
@@willault9120yes, OG's been locking down almost every star player the past few seasons, that's why the knicks gave up their top talent for him. Scottie Barnes is also playing great defense. individual umbers are just numbers, teams will play good defense if they are a good team and trust me, Siakam is a really good defender.
Great trade for the Pacers, since Siakam's prime was being wasted away in Toronto. Now they can truly contend in the Eastern Conference if they add a couple veterans off the bench that can some dirty work and help the team win games.
I think you can make a move next season pacers even after re-signing siakam. I'd probably trade hield for a better defender at SF so you can protect Tyrese on defense and ad to what turner brings as a shot blocker. I actually think you should try to move hield and buddy same trade maybe if you could get maybe 3 for 2 maybe a couple wings
SpicyP is nice and a champion but he ain't clutch when it counts. Maybe as a #2 next to Hali, he has less pressure. Pacers are better but not good enough to make noise in the playoffs.
Who cares about Indiana Pacers? I pity you Pascal Siakam. But its your decision that is final so anyway, I give credit to Toronto Raptors. They got 3 guys plus a three 1st round picks. Thats like winning a lottery ! All Toronto Raptors need is a veteran and efficient Coach and Coaching Staff. They also have a veteran guard Dennis Schroder who can handle the leadership of the team. Another One big position lacking for the Raptors is a dominant and veteran Forward-Center.
Well the trade deadline won’t be too exciting cause the pacers giving up a ton of draft capital is going to be the bar.. Christ sake he was an expiring contract!!!!
Pacers plan on signing him to an extension, which they will be able to do for less than what they would've had to pay him in FA. They're also convinced the draft will not be all that great coming up. They are a pretty deep team that is trying to find minutes for the players already on the team.
They are better than the Bucks, you heard it here first. Bucks perimeter defense is horrific, Haliburton gets wherever he wants to get to on the court every single play, over the course of a series it will kill Milwaukee
