My sister and I watched this every day all summer long while being watched by our grandmother. We couldn't wait for it to come on. He was so funny! I was probably 10. Love him!
@@thomaskrisa9132 We only had 3 channels back then but, yeah, we'd watch his show with our mom and dad. As well, I remember laughing with them a lot watching him. Loved his witty aprons.
My mom used to put this on the background as we did our homework..... thanks to this man I learned more about Chinese cooking than Chinese history and language!
never thought I'd see Wok with Yan ever again.. Been like forever and a day since last time. I use to watch with my Grandmother... Thanks for the memory!!
I used to watch this in the 80s! I have recently wondered what's happened to Stephan Yan. He was very likable and entertaining, and it was very comforting whenever I would watch his show; he had a passing resemblance to my dad in his younger years. Well done, Mr Yan! :)
Welcome back STEPHEN YAN, the comedy cooking session. Very jolly. I miss you and your style of entertaining your audience and at the same time leave some cooking tips. I remember I always watch your show when I was young .
this show was my childhood lol. i was a weird little kid. that all said this guy was the bruce lee of asian cooking. he was authentic but also a pioneere in the west in that he showed us thru his humor and charisma a special culture of artisan chefs and cooks. i think channels on youtube, like "the taste show" , are what evolved from wok with yan. just good authentic passionate recipes and techniques
Growing up in Manila. I love watching this show. When I moved to America, the popular Chinese cooking show was Yan can cook. I prefer this show compared to his American counterpart
Used to watch this when I was home sick from school or during the summer. Pretty much this, Pasquale's kitchen Express, Mr Dressup and The Price is Right were my go to shows as a kid
He's very funny and entertaining. I didn't grow up in Canada so I missed out on this guy. We had Yan Can Cook, which was equally funny and entertaining.
@@shadowplayish i could be wrong, but i think Wok with Yan predates Yan Can Cook by a few years Bizarro version is right. There are a lot of similarities
I m from Indonesia. This Show played in my country about early 90s,from our first commercial tv.It aired about 3 o'clock in afternoon.i always watch this show everyday after I woke from my midday sleep after school.i was in 5th grade that time... And Yan is funny🙌😀
Wow can't believe my eyes born in the 80s this wasn't the first cooking show I fell in love with and watch this show loyally when I can I was still a little kid at the time LOL
I still have his copper bottom wok. Best wok ever, stainless steel,,still 35 years later. This guy gave me ideas on stir fry. I credit him as my hero of the wok, Mr. YAN
Used to record this show on the old VCR since it was on late then my preschool son would sit on my lap and we would enjoy watching “funny cooking guy” together. Great memories...
🤗 I’m 46, loved watching this show on sick days from school or snow days. I was telling my 20 year old inspiring chef about Wok with Yan Here I am. Thank you so much for this. 🙏❤️😊🇨🇦
I have a cold today just laying in bed all day. Now I watch Wok with yan to make things better lol. Seriosuly though haven't seen this since the mid 90s and it's still woking awesome.
@@nala2839 That is true. Obviously he made his money through his restaurants but he had a gift of comedy that he combined with his talent of cooking & put it together.
You ever have one of those moments where you forget a guy existed for more years than one can count on both hands, and then all the sudden randomly see him and somehow you remember the guy right away? I haven't seen this guy in over 30 years. And all the sudden I see him and I'm like, dude, it's "that guy!" And then I ask myself, why do I go to every store in this whole state and cannot still find authentic woks like that?
i liked this show when i was a kid, he's good in speaking in english, very clear to understand and not boring to watch, tnx to youtube! keep calm and wok!
This was the last show, my mom and I watched when I was a kid, she was a struggling single mom INDIAN, sorry too say that, we watched it, clear memory, you sir, are in my memories... much love... to your memory, Thank-you..., I am 52 now..
In the 80s, this was my favorite show to watch after school. Not having cable tv, I did however have omni 1 and omni 2 and a few other reg channels you get on antenna. But this was the only thing I couldn't wait to watch when it was on.
Thank you for bringing back fond memories. I was watching this at lunch time on a 14 inch TV when I was at the university. It wasn’t a fancy show but it was good simple entertainment.
