Personally I find the notion that God will accept payment to forgive sin rather than repentance appalling... Welby has become the money lender in the temple that Jesus cleared out for soiling the church.
Nothing but a cash grab. One race of people stealing money from another race of people. And that church guy in Dover telling people they need to go woke. Wonder what happens when people refuse to do so.
Exactly! Also if the CofE can lose £1bn to people who themselves have not suffered. But is OK seeing homeless suffer and hundreds of thousands of children in this country live in poverty! Welby is a Satanist
My great grandfather was a rag and bone man, he didn’t have any slaves but he did have a horse. Should I have to pay reparation to today’s horse community?
Yes. My church raised money for repairs after a flood but we are not being allowed to use it. The reason? There may be flooding again in the future so it would be a waste!!! Not only that, the mostly very elderly congregation freezes in the winter during services as we can't afford to put the heating on. Don't suppose Lambeth palace has any of these kinds of problems though.
@@intello8953On the contrary, Welby got the job claiming to be #evangelical and proceeded to govern the church as a liberal. He has betrayed his own base. Just call him #Judas Welby at this point…
He should be tackling the police chiefs and commissioners regarding the issue of unlawful arrests of Christian preachers and ‘silent prayer’ people at the very least. Also, King Charles is ‘defender of the faith’ I believe but he has been terribly quiet on this matter - why?
A British Prime Minister appointed Welby as Archbishop of Canterbury, ergo, the current Prime Minister ought now reverse the situation and force Welby's resignation.
Churches all over the country struggling to keep the building secure and in repair and the roof on , and he finds a billion, how much is the Church of England worth, where is the money coming from?
You are right. He couldn't miss out on that could he. Look at me, I'm on the world stage and in the history books. Don't forget how he fawned over Meghan Markle at the wedding and how he took his time denying he hadn't married them 3 days previously.
So not the rampant "systemic Paedophilia" or the investments in arms, gambling, modern slavery, alcohol, tobacco, and their undying support for the wealthy and poweful then? Or how about their annual hosting of Europe's most prestigious arms fair held in Church House next door to St Paul's cathedral. The event and venue Welby refused to acknowledge for years until he was shown the paperwork😢! None of those publicly recognised villainous acts of evil moved you. But now his stance on gender gets you all uppity and indignant? This is why the church is finished. People like you
I wrote to Justin Welby to ask if he would admit to the £millions in arms profits the CofE makes from their most prestigious annual arms fair. The one in Church House next to St Paul's cathedral. He denied that the venue or the event had anything to do with the CofE. Later when shown the deliberately convoluted paper trail leading to the coffers of his Church he claimed he had not been informed. The next year Europe's biggest and most lucrative arms fair went ahead. In Church House next to St Paul's cathedral belonging to the CofE. This year it's going to be a record breaking fair I hear. You can invest online if you like. Don't feel bad. The church has always profited from war and slavery. No one will criticise you for making money from the slaughter of children. It's normal. Because the church does it! See what they did there?
Last vestiges of a dying organisation. I’m a Catholic Church goer and we may well be next. They aren’t serving God nor preaching Jesus teaching. Which is their only job.
Welby is a millionaire and a rich man has much chance of getting into the gates of heaven has a camel through the eye of a needle. Did he miss that bit in the bible.
During the middle-ages in Britain most people were surfs. The richest people were the nobility and the church. As I have no noble blood and no clergy ancestors I want my share of that money.
Welby should be opening up church properties and stump up church money to take care of all these illegal immigrants as seen as he wants them here so much. The tax payers and British people can't afford and are struggling to just pay their bills, without good money being spent on people who have no right to be here and the church has billions of pounds that they are hoarding away
@@ashlibabbittcroakedit9108 to buy them of Africans who rounded them up to sell them, and they were selling them long before anyone sailed anywhere to buy them.
@@ashlibabbittcroakedit9108African tribal leaders benefited from slavery, every country in the world benefited from slavery at some time or another. What needs addressing is the slavery happening now.
Why is Welby so concerned with historical slavery over which none of us had any control when modern slavery exists and is just as wicked and cruel? I have not heard him stand up to the modern slave owners around the world. He could start with some of his favourite people: Africans and Middle Eastern Muslims. Why the silence, Welby?
As a Christian for the last 40 years, this is heartbreaking! What about The tens of millions of slaves in the world today? What about those who are hungry today? What about the children who can’t go to school today? What about the women who are afraid to go home today? What about all those without access to medicine today? And just a crazy thought, how about preaching the actual gospel of Jesus Christ? The good news of Jesus defeating death and therefore sin, is the power of God today, it is subversive and undermines the wickedness of our age. By bowing down to the god of wokeness, the Church of England becomes a part of the problem instead of a bearer of the answer.
@@CakeFace86 No it doesn’t and that is why I was careful in my wording. However, the debate should be far more nuanced than ‘all white people are bad and all non whites were slaves and therefore victims,’ which seems to underpin the CofE’s stance.
I think it is despicable how these religions have vast wealth, grand palaces but won't help fix a broken piece of lead window in a parish church. These religious leaders live unbelievable lavish lives. It's about time this wealth is returned to our communities! I expect that's heresy.
The archbishop should surely be aware of a passage in his instruction manual which tells him that he cannot serve more than one master. “Ye cannot serve both God and mammon.”
Will the Archbishop also suggest that the other slave owning countries including Germany, France, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal. some South American countries ..even that Africa itself should examine exactly its role in slavery...? Utterly evil, despicable, disgusting as it was, it is STILL going on today, albeit often under the radar of media or any other scrutiny. Jane Soole, Dorset.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight 🙏✝️🙏
Act of uk/gb British Parliament 25th March 1807 . Abolished the slavery in our uk/gb and the British Empire. So where are they getting this from. We were the first country to pass such an act. Check the facts. We the UK government are not responsible for others or individuals who still do this.
Where have these people been for the last 80 plus years? During that time and probably long before the people of UK have given HUGE amounts of money to African causes and charities. I can remember the early 1950s very clearly and a particular film featuring Danny Kaye which had a wide showing in which we were urged to dig deep into our pockets and help enable Africa to become self sufficient. If all the money given to Africa over the years by UK was added up it would far exceed the 1 billion £££ proposed by Woke Welby etc now. Yet I do not recall even once hearing a word of thanks or appreciation from any part of Africa during all that time and instead their hands remain outstretched expecting more. If this foolhardy scheme goes ahead they will be emboldened to keep asking for ever more.
Yes,I’m trying to see if there is someone coming,a leader that will give us strength to face what’s coming. To help the children & elderly that are being abused.Someone who is as hard as steel with zero compassion for anyone but us.Surely there is …
Welby is not a Christian. If he was he’d be concerned with preaching Christ crucified. He shows little interest in the gospel revealed in the Scriptures.
The answer lies with parishioners: abandon the non-Christian "Church" of England. Even Welby cannot collect money from people who are not there to be fleeced.
Welby is like an accountant who only enters the debits against Britain on this issue, but never the credits. He's not just anti-Christian, but also anti-historical, cutting out vast swathes of accepted historical fact to reach his perverse conclusions.
I do seem to remember Jesus saying the render unto Caesar that is Caesars and God that is god's. Or words close to that. Separating the political from the spiritual. And there Welby is, a spiritual leader, being nothing but political. He should have a look at himself.
Welby thinks he understands the history, the Christian community did pay reparations when slavery stopped. Not only that the church encouraged the slavers to ask in some form of forgiveness. It is how the universities the funds etc.
If this is a policy of the British, are they going to include the Irish in their reparations? The treatment of the ‘serfs’ was even worse than much of slavery. The Irish were starved and considered nothing by the English. Just wondering.
The English still see the Irish as worthless and they always will. They see the Scots and the Welsh in much the same way. You only have to read these blogs to see this.
What's Welby's address? I'd like to send him a book which may help him. It's called the Bible. Not sure he's heard of it. It may help with his religious sermons and public statements. It contains morals and wisdom and rules. It is a much better guide to life than his current references such as the mission statements of BLM, Hamas, C40 cities, WHO, WEF, Mermaids and Stonewall.
Surely these are the final nails in the coffin for the C of E. All other Protestant denominations should distance themselves from the C of E. This should be a good time for the Christian faith to find relevance again in the wake of terrible moral guidance being provided by Western Social Liberal Democracies (especially in the Anglosphere). The C of E are determined to make Christianity a fringe movement in England.
Welby is an absurd figure. There is no way this is his idea. He is being used by others. The Anglican Church in Ireland forced Catholics to pay a tithe to them even during the Irish famine and set up soup kitchens where you only got soup if you converted and became an Anglican. Can the Irish also now make a generational claim?
In the cafe of Chester cathedral, a large painting of two men, one white, one black, looking like they are about to kiss. Elsewhere, a painting of a black male with a crown of thorns. The endless pandering to people who are indifferent or even hostile to the church is alienating those who wish to see the Christianity flourish.
So if they get compensation for enslavement do they then have to pay back all the costs of themselves and their ancestors for benefits, medical costs education costs etc etc
I’m Greek Orthodox thank goodness, we don’t put up with this nonsense, our history with Muslims predicates no surrender to them. Can you imagine what they would say if we demanded repatriations, the Muslim Turks invaded the sovereign state of Cyprus in 1974 and still hold it illegally; where are the wokistas protesting for the Cypriots injustices? We are not guilty for the sins of our fathers Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
Welby needs to concentrate on the great commission as written in Acts 1, Matthew 28, Mark 16 etc but as you could guess he is to busy occupied in the woke agenda, then doing what he should be... PREACHING THE GOSPEL!! William Wilberforce and the abolitionists were politically responsible for anti slavery laws, the Church has not been silent on this issue. Reputations to those who were not affected by slavery by those who were responsible for the abolition is disgraceful.
I think the Archbishop and his priests should follow the teaching of Jesus Christ. Sell all their property, walk around the parishes, preaching the word and dependent on the generosity of others. The money raised could go into his fund and the churches which he emptied of Christians can be used to house his illegal immigrants saving the taxpayer a fortune in 4 star hotel fees. No free social or rented housing until all homeless British people, his parishioners, have a home. Charity begins at home, in this case the bishops and priests home. I am a practising Christian and I shake my head wondering did the C of E sell their Bibles?
