Wolf Alice - How Can I Make It OK? (Reading Festival 2022) 

Mainstream media does not do anything at all to promote good or talented bands. Record companies don't exist and don't promote live acts like they used to. For a band to be successful without being completely corrupt, they have to go out and tour non-stop. That's what Wolf Alice has been doing for the last 7 or 8 years. They rely on live ticket sales and word of mouth. RU-vid and Record Companies don't pay the bills.

Agree. And the are quite different from each other. Such a good songs.

They may not have gone mega yet. But they easily sell out 3000 venues . They have played the main stage at Glastonbury a number of times and attracted large crowds.

@@johngroundmarch7073 Never really thought about the duality of the name at all, you're dead right. Screams profanities on songs like Yuk Foo and You're a Germ, then has the most gentle voice on tracks like this, Blush, etc

@@johngroundmarch7073 The name originates from one of Angela Carter's short stories, which exactly shows the wonderful duality of a feral girl's growing personality.

She belted it out of the park on the last verse...

That is the essence of all their songs. They do movements and switch them up. Nothing repeats. Even when you think a verse or chorus is a repeat, listen and you will hear different underlying sounds, notes. They spend a lot of time producing their songs in the studio, for sure. Very detailed. Superb.

In my opinion Arctic Monkeys like Oasis/Radiohead /Arcade Fire all overrated. I liked Radiohead until/including OK Computer. Then too pretentious. Never liked Oasis. Artic Monkeys can't see what the fuss is. Muse do it a lot better as well as Wolf Alice of course.

@@keithbate9405 muses first three albums maybe and the rest is trash sorry also Radiohead is good listen to there later live in the basements for there later albums are magical also there's a magic to the lyrics of young Alex turner and oasis are shit noel stole so much

@@davidcurillo4998 I only like Radiohead's first Three albums. The rest is boring and pretentious. Don't care for Arctic Monkeys at all. We agree about Oasis though !

I saw the Arctic Monkeys open for the Black Keys some years ago and I could hardly wait for their set to be over and done with. Ugh. I liked Wolf Alice's music the first time I heard them and still do.

The simple response from El would be the song "Smile". Wolf Alice are a 4 piece band. Wolf Alice are beautiful. The members of Wolf Alice are beautiful. Let's just stick to that right?

No kidding. I watched them with maybe 400 people in Seattle this week. It made no sense, but it was fantastic.

Buddy, lots of people have heard of this band and we're all the lucky ones.

They most be fairly popular in Denver. They sold out a 1500 seat theatre twice when I saw them in 2021, then in fall of 2022 just about filled a theatre of 3000. America no longer has good taste though. I'm hoping its just temporary!

That's fine. There's this one big band that headline many many many festivals on this planet, perform in arena/stadium but still want to perform in small venue, even in a bar. That's fine to balance everything out LOL

I was right near the front absolutely dancing my back out to Wolf Alice surrounded by bored teenagers in bucket hats standing still and chatting-I was fuming! To be fair to them though, they did leave me room to dance around ahaha (I probably terrified them 😂) Not the crowd that reading used to be unfortunately but there were definitely still WA fans in the crowd loving every second!

Agreed . I saw them live in Birmingham earlier this year and they were excellent. But while this was going on I was watching the National play in Manchester . Awesome . Easily my current favourite band . Been to over 1000 gigs since 1973 . That one is in my all time top ten.

Everyone was there to get a good place for arctic monkeys and they happened to be on same time

we were all dying in pit

a lot of people were waiting for arctic monkeys and weren’t too interested in the bands before them

was in the front, it went off for AM but obviously had to get there a few hours early to get the spot, i was incredibly upset for wolf alice haha
