Eddie's virtuosity "restricted" music in the 80s? That's ridiculous. Only the son, who apparently hates the early days of VH, could come up with that. You could still suck if you wanted to, as the following 90s showed extensively. Eddie set the standard for rock guitar very high forever. The 80s was full of other great music too. It was just a great time period. He would never understand. He wasn't there.
I could not agree with this dude more, never gave a shit about all that tapping or whatever, it has always been about those bad ass riffs(Dave) and amazing sense of melody(Sammy) for me!
have to disagree. while ed's playing was technically impressive there was substance there, real compositions, musically diverse and appealing. he wasn't just showing off. if other players took that as their influence it's on them
