I don’t know how far it went but I was most intrigued by how he replicates how he will finish in the full throw.
He starts with back and forth swing and then winds the discus all the way back and into the high point. His chest is low over his right leg. He has a deep bend in both knees. The left arm is so low the hand is lower than the hips. He is flat on his right foot (he won’t do that in the full throw) and only the toes of his left foot are on the ground.
Note how his shoulders and hips are perfectly parallel.
He begins the finish by opening the left leg and throwing the left arm around. He remains bent on both legs as he turns them together. He holds X this whole time.
As his weight shifts from his right foot to the left foot he keeps turning both legs. He drops the right hip down and forward into the sector. His left arm simply stretches around and stretches out his chest. He does not reach up with the left arm or hand. His bend in the knees, arch in the back, and rotation around the axis of his body (which was leaning to the left from our perspective because of him pulling the left arm low and discus up high) creates the correct angle of release.
He turns the hips, right knee and foot all the way around to the direction of the throw before he pushes with the hips and legs into the throw as he rips the right arm.
