I've been a VH fan forever and was a Sammy fan before there was a VH, Wolfgang doesn't need to assume any throne, this young man is building his own kingdom and it is fantastic. Only an Arse Hole would give this kid any hate, he is a great artist in his own right and he doesn't need anyone and I for one am glad to see him take his own path, it gives me new music and it is very good.
As a 56 year old i doubt Wolfgang will ever see this but ive had NOTHING BUT LOVE for him and im proud of this youg man all thru his music life!! Hope he does great things even more than he has done being self tought with help from his pops! ❤❤🙏🙏✌✌😎
Dude, how can anyone not love this guy? He's a genius and he can make killer music. He is already the new king. Like it or not you will be a believer someday.
Love Wolfie, He’s a humble young man with a great appreciation for music and the process of making music. You can tell he’s truly a real musician with no signs of slowing down. Rock on kiddo!
I've seen a dozen tribute bands play those songs better than Wolfgang can. Just because he's Eddie song doesn't make him the automatic heir to the "throne." If music were all about nepotism, there would be even more bad music out there than there already is.
I listen to both Mammoth albums daily and can’t get enough. Truly an amazing artist and can wait to see how he grows even more. Another great artist from a legendary family.
Thanks for this very good & well researched retrospective of Wolfgang.....With all the DVD bootleg recordings of Wolf playing with his Dad in VH I watched him evolve as as a musician live on stage between 2007 -2015 ....Not just how his playing & singing evolved but how his self confidence in a live environment evolved. In those times with his Father I've never seen ANY two musicians have so much fun together onstage in all my life......He re-ignited his fathers love of playing to audiences & got him writing new stuff too. & he went on later to build his own sound in the studio playing EVERYTHING HIMSELF & Singing everything himself, then put together an elite group of musicians who could faithfully reproduce that sound live. His rapport with live audiences is so easy & relaxed & natural & he's sweeping the board with the music awards like his Father did & designing his own instruments to celebrate his Father just as Dad designed the Wolfgang to celebrate him....He helped his Dad get away from alcohol & was always there for him right to when he passed away. & he continues to love him & to celebrate & preserve his great legacy. While creating his own legacy as a separate artist. Which Dad foresaw as far back as 2006 on the Howard Stern interview. Ed can see this too & he is smiling .
Thanks you! I agree, I'm not sure Ed, or even Alex could have gotten through the reunion with Dave without Wolfgang as a distraction. I enjoyed their rapport, and the energy they shared.
@@stevelongmusic880 When he was a member of VH despite his young age Wolf was a BRIDGE BUILDER…He tried to bring people together but through no fault of his he became the target of a lot of very toxic fan/band politics which on the part of certain fans could become very hostile and very cruel….We are currently seeing examples of it posted right here on this comments section of this video. These people are not even fit to call themselves ‘fans’. They are just cruel TROLLS without empathy, heart or conscience.
Long time Van Halen fan here. Saw them on concert in 1981. I've never understood the Wolfgang hate at all. He's his own guy, and I love his music--kinda bluesy sounding at times. Looking forward to more from him in the future.
Wolfie is the Truth!!! That dude can jam!!! Seen him 3X and going again in March! He’s doing everything right, he’s forging his own path! It’s cool to have another Van Halen out there making music!
I'm so proud of Wolfgang, he's shinning his own torch, not carbon copying anyone! His love for his Dad is deep, Eddie even told him to shine his own light, and man is he ever!? Talented AF! Love MammothWVH!! I'd like to see if you could do a report on an upcoming guitarist "Taj Farrant", he's originally from Australia and now lives here in the USA. He's only 14yrs old, he's played with Santana & other famous guitarist. Believe me, if you'll look him up, his story is awesome! He's been on AGT, (Australia Got Talent) where he completely blew everyone away when he played "Purple Rain" better than you've ever heard! He's already out with a CD hitting #1 on the charts! He was 10 when he was on AGT! Taj was born with a guitar in his hands! It's a story you don't want to miss! Gary Moore is one of his idols and plays his music to perfection...all at the age of 14!
Thanks for watching, and thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely check him out and add to the list. I want to hit up and comers as well as the legends, so he sounds like a good one!
Love to hear the old rockers bitch about Eddie's kid. Wolf is Wolf and Eddie was Eddie. Wolf brings new (OH NO NOT NEW) music his own style. Thank you Eddie for giving us Wolfie.
I hope Wolfie continues to grow musically and to block all who try to intervene with his progress in music. What he's doing is probably what the King would want for him anyway. I'm sure his grandfather Jan is happy with the greatness of his grandson, too. Jan, Edward, Alexander, and Wolfgang, you guys are all music royalty, in my opinion. Van Halen family for ever. 🤘😌
I went and seen Mammoth and Nita Strauss on 2/27/24 at the Egyptian room in Indianapolis. Fist off I would like to say I am 60 years old grew up with Van Halen and I play guitar so I follow all my heroes like Eddie ,Paul Gilbert ,Joe Satriani , Steve Vai , Angus young , just to name a few and when I first learned of wolf I went and check his stuff out and man I fell in love from the start this guy is an amazing musician I love his voice his stage presence everything this cat can rock. I really don't understand the hate from old van Halen people it's silly they should little Eddie carrying on what his dad started and making a name for himself. To your haters shame on you if you haven't seen him, you should that was one of the best shows I have seen in a long long time and trust me when I say I have been to many shows in my lifetime. I still hum the songs he sang in my head I love this guy he rocks and so down to earth I hope I get to meet him someday Rock on Wolf and Mammoth I love ya . fingers fhillips 2024
If you have heard his music, then you must be able to recognize that he is definitely a prince that is well ready to take a seat at the throne. He has so much royalty running through his veins that he will be able to change music like his father did, albeit, in this day and age that is going to be a tough thing to do....but if anyone can do it, Wolfgang could.
Just like Wolfy, I've enjoyed watching your channel growing and getting better with each posting! I'm really excited for you, Steve! Keep em' coming, man! God bless and take care...
their music is completely different to VH, yet still rocks. I find their music fresh yet still full of feeling. Rock on mate and please tour Australia 🦘.
Wow, great summary and assessment of Wolfie. I was once a teen, such a VH fan and loving Eddie for all that he was. I also loved Valerie so them getting together was amazing to think the child they would have. I have always loved Wolfie just because i know how much his parents wanted and loved him. Their miracle baby! But wolfie, now grown, just as his own person is phenomenal! His talent is boundless. He can do it all and does it with that same joy that Eddie had. And he is so damn nice and so supportive of talking good about about other musicians. I am an old woman now , approaching 60 and i am such a fan of his. It amuses me to think that Wolfie has a solid fan base up here in the geriatric population. We love Wolfie!!
Mammoth Rocks! Lifelong fan of Van Halen. Started listening to them since the first Album. When I first heard Wolfgang, I was speechless. Eddie's passing was hard as a fan. I wish the best for Wolf and the band.
I love his work, and he is just so laid back and cool in video's.. I watched a video on the Taylor Hawkins set, and Dave called him and said hey how do you feel about doing a few VH songs and he told Dave he needed him on stage with him, which is why Dave is playing bass on those songs, Wolf also said prior to that he had not played those songs in like 10 years, and he freaking KILLED IT.. He is everything I like in a Rock star, no BS just great skills!
Im only half way through and ive been choked up many time, and you are doing great job telling Wolfgang story. Im a Sammy snd Vh fan i was there in backyard and Long Beach Arena 78 when (VH) they left us and the country & world grabbed them (VH) from us So Cal fans and they became the worlds. i see Wolf as such an unreal musician multi talented, im going to buy his album now, ive been putting off and you just gave such great story on a great musician, Wolfgang Van Halen. Mammoth is #1 on my list to see, above all right now to see live. I'll be there. Will you?
Hes just starting out abd already you see how great he is as a songwriter and a full musician like his dad a musical genius and can't wait to see the next album he does. Also should be blessed to hear his music all around. Evh and his mother valerie are proud of him
WOW I couldn't believe it when i first heard! I'm a die hard VH Fan with a son 2 months younger then WVH...WOlfMan you are VH will always be VH and if he has kids there VH....EXCEPT IT!!!!! By the way great video👍👍
When Wolfie was in VanHalen. It was more VanHalen than before. Because there were 3 VanHalen’s in VanHalen. And he did an incredible job. I saw them play.
You're spot on. I have been wondering how long he's been writing and working on these songs so thanks for that. I've been listening to MWVH since the debut, like you, I can't stress enough to any rock fan that this is just fantastic work. I sit and listen all day at times and I catch something different each time. I remember Ed saying in an interview once about Wolf, "You haven't seen anything yet" (paraphrase). He was right. The young man is amazing. I did get to see them live. Hopefully, they'll be back my way again this year.
I stumbled across Mammoth after seeing ‘don’t back down’ video on RU-vid, was instantly blown away by the track and checked out all their other stuff. The videos are great, with a touch of Tenacious D in there, which is just great. Got my brother into them (it wasn’t hard!) and now we’re both going to see them live in the U.K. in July. So from never hearing of them, or even Wolf if I’m being honest, I’m now a massive fan and seeing them live in a month…all in the space of a couple of months! Can’t wait. Love his music. 🤘🏼 🎸 🥁
Wow what an amazing young man. I think it was awesome to start the way he did and much respect to Michael Anthony as the original member of so many years.
I ❤Mammoth WVH! He is an amazing musician and songwriter. I love how he is doing his own music and I am looking forward to everything he comes out with
Im not a fan of Wolfies band, but I appreciate that he's out there doing his own thing. Good for him. He seems like he is as down to earth as he can be.
I clicked on this expecting an interview with wolfie ( cuz he is such a fun, interesting guy) but was pleasantly surprised to hear your take in summarizing Wolfie. There are so many clickbait robovoice vids about him that are awful. You actually took the time to give a great summary of who is he. He deserves the best. He is his own person as Eddie wanted him to be. Eddie was said that Wolfie was the future. Such a loving proud father. Anyway, great video by you and i definitely be relistening to this many more times ( and also subscribing).
Thank you so much! I would love to interview Wolfie, who knows maybe someday :) I am glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for watching and subscribing!
A person’s health reflects what’s going on in his/her life. He’s still mourning his Dad. Plus DNA from his mom’s side of the family. He has a loving village around him… he’ll make it through it and things will come together. WOLFIE 🤘🏼❤️
Just stop comparing him to his dad . He carries the name well . His dad (and mom) is/are proud of him, and that should be all that matters . We are lucky we have the heritage here among us (think Clapton , Plant , etc...) He's creating his own ' good ole days ' for the kids that are smart enough , lucky enough , and fortunate enough to appreciate him today .... We had our turn , back in the day , now it's his turn . Just be grateful 🙏
I've been listening to Van Halen since the beginning. Picture it 1979, adolescent on Ohau, when the beginning strains of Runnin With The Devil blasting out of a black Lasco Boombox with fifteen inch chrome speakers and a dual cassette. Life was good.
Ive heard Wolfie rear up the fretboard, and no doubt he learned some serious chops from his legendary father, Eddie Van Halen, what a tragic loss to the music world. My hats off to Wolfie and wish him the best in life and the music world.
I saw Van Halen live in Akron Ohio (Bakance tour) and Wolfe kicked a ball on stage to his famous father Eddie kicked the ball back to him without missing a beat
yeah, i wasn't happy that Mikey wasn't asked back when the last tour was put together. but, its Wolfie. this kid has not written a bad song. every one in my opinion is genuine, original and just unbelievably good! love all of it and my wife and daughter play his stuff in their car when i'm not even around. WVH is EVH's son, but man...this kid is an original Van Halen. RIP EVH, the G.O.A.T!
Why not? Eddie created a great legacy and the question is asking if Wolfgang has what it takes to continue the legacy. I think he does, but maybe you don’t. And that’s cool. I personally think he’s awesome and creating his own style that is great! Thanks for watching!
what I find interesting about the haters out there is the stupid reasoning they have for not liking someone, it happened to Julian Lennon, back in the early 80's, as well, when he put out his debut album, (which I quite enjoyed), some of the critics would say his singing sounds too much like he is imitating John Lennon, Julian responding, that is my own singing voice. I don't get it? some fans think they have some kind of ownership to the artist music and what they create, who they marry, etc... and how dare the kid decided to do music as their career, as there father did before them and make his own music. I'm 63 years old always been a fan of Van Halen, and Ku-dos to Wolfgang for doing what he loves doing with own music signature.
I really hope he learns to be more honest with himself than his dad did. Even to the end Eddie was blaming the picks for his health issues. Wolfgang has traded his dad's addictions to cigarettes and alcohol for food and who knows what else and if he doesn't figure himself out he won't make it to a ripe old age. I really want him to and I look forward to decades of his musical output. For those thinking I am being overly critical please understand how heartbreaking it was for me to watch Eddie's slow motion death over the years and to watch his denial about his situation. I would rather lose someone as a friend if my directness and honesty jarred them into reality and they got themselves some help, and in my opinion that is what real friends do. Healthy friends anyway. Wolfgang deserves happiness and to shred until he is 100. I'll root for him for that forever.
Wolf doesnt need to take his dads throne. Wolfie is here to build his own legacy and his won welldeserved throne. Yes, he is 100% Eddies and Vals son but he was taught to be his own person. And that he is. He is so multitalented. Eddie immersed him in musi but never pushed him. He wanted to see what musical magic wolfie had with, not have wolfie be a carbon copy of him. Wolfiie is phenominal! as someone who loved eddie from the beginning, it it so sweet to have Wolfie who has that joy in music that eddie had and so at my old age ( late 50s), i am now love wolfie as I was eddie ( in a musical way, not a stalker, lol. Wolfie has such a gorgeous sweet wife!) He has such a great, sweet personality. They seem so happy and in love.
What the hell is everybody talking about? What throne? Edward Van Halen is a one-time deal. No one will ever replace him. He is a prime example of what the human spirit is capable of when one focuses completely on being the very best at one thing and sacrifices almost everything else in life to get there. He spent his life with a guitar in his hands, that's the only way to become what he did. No one else compares to EVH. And anyone who comes close has him to thank for it because he is THE ONE who turned the Guitar world on its ear with that first LPs' release. And with each following LP, he brought new techniques, sounds, and styles and inspiration. There is no thrown it remains his, and always will. Thank you EVH ❤, may you know true Bliss and, LONG LIVE THE KING!
That's your generation s opinion, but not the consensus of all guitar players,he was just inspirational, tapping is really not the highest technique in guitar playing and the dive bombed harmonics just got ridiculous after a while, still loved the 1st album but so many guitarist with better technique, lukather,Randy Rhodes Steve vai, Satriani etc.!
I say he's awesome.. pretty much self though .it's obvious he's SUPER passionate about music .his hobby his love.. he's definitely got lot's of great talent and on top of that-just down right great dude.. Amen to u Wolfgang -Danny from Lansing Michigan budd😊
Wolfgang can play anything Eddie played,,,wolf n Eddie played many stages,,he's very mellow n a great guy,,,he has his own thing going on with music gotta move ahead but always throws one in for his dad
At the Taylor Hawkins benefit, Wolfie played "Panama," "On Fire," and "Hot for Teacher". Nailing all three! That said, Wolfgang has stated with a deep passion, that he does not want to follow his Dad. He even talked about how people just push this question or narrative. Wolfgang went on to say, as he released his second album, he'd hoped some might see that he was committed to his own career, and following up to his debut album success. Lastly, Wolfie said that the TH benefit was his tribute to his Dad, and he felt it was complete. Out of respect for King👑 Edward, please let the kid live and breathe his own air and thoughts. It's what Wolfie wants. Jus say'n.
I think Wolfgang was a great addition to the group. You would think that with this young blood in the group who is family, that he would be perfect for the group. I really don't understand why people are so negative about it.
Great job with this video. I'm a huge VH fan as well as a EVH inspired guitarist from day 1. I just do not understand any fan of VH especially those who love and have been inspired by the King to have ANY hatred or dislike towards WVH. Aside from his own incredible writing and playing he was the absolute apple of EVHs eye and to disrespect Wolf is to disrespect Edward. Keep up the great content.
Once you are Van Halen , you always will be a Van Halen, I have seen him , love his music , he does he’s own thing , but when he wants to sound like dad , he does it just like that,
