Today we crack out a long overdue effect, and cook breakfast with Wolverine. Claw build tutorial: www.bit.ly/clawstutorial Mocha Tracking: www.bit.ly/mochatrack Free Claw Model: www.bit.ly/3dclaws Stark on twitter: / mstarktv
I must say the editing on this sketch was fantastic. The pacing was awesome and the different camera angles kept everything moving along really fast. I especially like the part of the cracking eggs. I've watched this one several times already.
We will talk about that next week. I meant to mention where to find that in this ep, but forgot. Also, in this instance a sharpy marker is no good, since we were moving between scenes of Josh having the VFX claws and ones with the prop claws on. We needed to be able to remove the tracking points and reapply quickly.
Awesome as per usually, I loved the way the sketch was filmed and the music selection. Josh as Wolverine was spot on. I really appreciate what you guys do, job or not it's still a lot of hard work and pressure you endure for us, so thanks for the hard work! Don't stop...believin'!
Please update link for claws. Invalid or Deleted File. The key you provided for file access was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on MediaFire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or MediaFire. Still have questions, or think we've made a mistake? Please contact support for further assistance.
The Claw RAR file is missing for me. I'm on a MacBoom Pro that's currently using el capitan. The link to the claws says that it is invalid or deleted. Since this is the only tutorial out there, is there any help?
i think you forgot to mess with thue shutter angle cause it looks really weird when he moves his hands, it looks like it has too much motion blur on it
I downloaded the claws that you gave us and it doesn't work with after effects. How do I get it to work with after effects? I am new to this sort of stuff so please let me know. Thanks
My question for you guys is have you ever reproduced the jump scene from the first matrix when Neo was attempting his first building jump and fell? I always wondered how they did his splat scene at the bottom.
Ryan I just want to say that you are the greatest. Film Riot is my favorite show in the history of ever and tell everyone over there that yall are doing great and KEEP GOING!!!!
Is the awesome news about the fight scene SFX or Gun SFX? I can't wait for those:) BTW Thanks for the link for the Claws VFX, and Practical. I was going to use Butter Knives as claws if I ever made a Wolverine film down the road, but those are much cooler.:) Great opening sketch too!
If you look at 0:56 in the reflection of the fridge, you can see the tracking points on his hand. I am dealing with a similar problem with reflections (windows, mirrors...) anyway could you please make an updated version -Mitch
"We needed to be able to remove the tracking points and reapply quickly." ...that is a good point. ha! On a side note, I love how fast you blaze through these tuts. If I'm unsure of something I just pause or rewind. I LOVE that about your tuts vs. others. It's refreshing to not have to listen to 30+ min. of dialogue to get to the heart of it. You're like the micro-machines guy of AE tuts! If it's not Film Riot, it's not the real thing! ^_^
whenever i track and paste it in the null a corner pin gets added! SOMEBODY PLZ HELP!!!!!! why does the corner pin get added when i dont do it manually! PLZ HELp!
Finally yes you did!! Finally did a better than good offering. YES YOU DID! Quite pleased I must say. Good everything! Color/lighting/movement/ PLANNING...schweet. God BLESS Y'all
What good stuff? What-- What Whattttttttttt? A feature film for you Ryan? Ive been following you almost three years now...... If its a feature -- holy bananas!!
Second question...you mentioned that DSLRs leave you with out-of-focus imagery, which is totally true. (My only real issue with my T3i). What camera (with interchangeable lenses) do you recommend for a nice, sharp, feature-worthy image?? Thanks!
Duplicate the footage layer, mask a bit of the hand without the tape, Freeze frame it (RightClick>Time>FreezeFrame) position it over the tape, feather the mask, parent it to the hand track null. Have fun
Wow..Josh is really injoying beeing in that specific role!;D I'm thinking of the way he cooled off after forgetting what he was doing;)) But let me add: he actually did look awesome! great show!;)
Filmriot! Important questions: I am here in like 30 minutes dual booting my mac to run windows 7 and use 3ds max. What are the stats on your computer that uses 3ds max? (That is if you are using a dual booted mac to run 3ds max)
how do you do the copy and paste thing from mocha AE? I tried copying to clipboard and as soon as i pasted the data to the null layer there was no tracking info, no plots, no nothing. I tried exporting the data from Mocha with the setting that says corner pin and the one that says anchor point, so on. How do you get the claw to stick because once i finally get the dots to show up, and parent the solid null layer to the null layer that i tracked, the claw does not follow the information. help!!
Brilliant show. Have you ever considered using a node based compositor? Or even trying a free and open-source software for VFX? It'd be cool if you did.
would be great to know where u guys got the music from, allot of your music is so awesome. i know theirs a few good ones like incompitech but they don't seem to do stuff like this????
