@@khrispeter85 So he says. Prof X is not particularly ethical. The 90's show paints a more wholesome aspect to him overall but the comics version, he's 4D chessing everything. He's 'always on' power wise.
This is what made this the best comic cartoon ever! They stuck to story lines and characteristics of character. Wolverine is obsessed and wrong, but it is part of who he is. Flaws and attributes make us all.
Unlike the films and wolverine and the x-men series write it as wolverine is the cool guy and he deserves Jean because Scott is an ahole because he does not like the guy he flirts with his girlfriend. And we the audience are expected to agree wolverine that is kind of f-ed.
@@Nepthu And it did all the X-men wrong and especially skipping the original 5 and using only the popular characters and do nothing with except Wolverine.
@@Nepthu Every other character was sidelined in the movies. The movies were pretty much all about Wolverine. Which is very unsuitable for an X-Men movie or TV show. If you wanna make something that is Wolverine-centered LOL, make something about Weapon X or about any other stories that involve him alone, not the X-Men team. Because within that team, he never had a central role. Which is why I never liked the movies and X-Men Evolution while Wolverine and the X-Men I simply hate with a passion.
Its really not that she was just straight up rejecting her its because of her powers and Gambit would always seriously try kiss her even though she would incompacitate him.
While I understand the situation between this love triangle and how Logan is in the wrong for trying to get in between. This just depicts his emotions towards the whole situation. Jean loved them both but her feelings were stronger for Scott, and Logan knows and accepts that. That doesn't mean it hurts less. He's just blowing off steam like anyone else would whether it's destructive or constructive. Better to punch a speed bag than to start a fight. Edit: I made this comment some years ago, when I myself had some things going on. Regardless, I think my point still stands given the context of this video. I haven't seen TAS and I'm not really focusing on their Comic Counterparts. Logan here is simply venting his issues for whatever reason and Jean is pitying him understandably because she did care about him, regardless of how far their relationship took in this series (as friends or whatever). However, he knew she is loyal to Scott from the get-go. There's nothing he can really do about it. People express their emotions differently, and I'd rather Logan take his anger and frustration on what's the equivalent of a "work out" than straight up hurting someone else or himself.
Jean never had a thing for wolverine. As a kid watching this we never understood it. She just felt sorry for him and was seen as a loser with an obsession over her. The story writers tried to trick you into believing Jean liked wolverine but they never dated or hung out with each other. She rejected him and avoided him.
Cyclops is tall, handsome and young and Jean loves him. Wolverine has this illusion that he is meant for Jean Grey and can't take the fact that he was ugly, hairy, barbaric, midget and old.
@TJ from a video interview over the xmen cartoon series the writers and producers admitted they tried to make the show into romantic soap opera especially the lead female writer. I think that was what turned some people off and the demise of the show in the end
Lost my dear friend and cohort Norm Spencer. WHat a sad day. Norm was the voice of Cyclops on X-Men the animated series. He was a genuine Character and sweetheart. I will miss her you Cyc. sorry about the “convertible ” Bub. see ya later my friend. -Cathal J. Dodd( Wolverines voice actor)
At first she probably desired him but choose to be loyal to Cycke instead, can't cap it, the triangle is really amazing. I recently started and finished the series to watch 97 and kept saying "go to JAPAN" as a joke.
@@easyevil5943 The triangle was fucked and never 'amazing'. Always hated it. Makes Logan's respect levels drop considerably. Dislike Scott all he wants, but to try to steal a woman from a man who wholly loves her and she loves him? It's fucked. Not to mention Wolverine is VERY old. Grandpa macking on my girlfriend vibes is ick as Hell. Wolverine has nothing in common with Jean. It's purely physical and 'I want what I can't have'.
@@TaskMaster5 you have the right idea, everything you mentioned are things I don't like either. I meant moments when the triangle actually plays into making a character better. Cyclops and his confusing feelings for jean doe, wolvie constantly fighting his greatest enemy "himself", and jean's low-key weird short wild canadian fetish.
Good episode really, you know the animators had to jump through hoops to make it kid friendly. You basically have a sequence with wolverine violently murdering cylcops several times, out of jealousy. But it is actually a horrrrible robot, so it is okay.
@@Zzzquil_Lord_v2They will never match the warmth of hand-drawn old-school cartoons. This was my favorite show ages 5-10 in Russia and few shows have scratched that itch since then.
They turned Wolverine into a simp for jean lol. He's over a hundred years old and had plenty of trim, now all of a sudden he's acting like his high school crush has feeling for the jock. Pathetic
@@1Freakzilla no cheap robot can mimic Scott’s raw power, and tactical ingenuity. Real cyclops could send wolverine into the horizon with a wide eyed glance if he wanted to.
@TJ Wolverine is more tactical then Cap. Vicious on a whole other level not showcased in cartoons or film. Unparalleled experience , monstrous healing ability , he is finishing Scott in a bloodbath.
@@TheLegacy87 scott scales to omega level and can destroy moons to planets if need be he could easily decapitate wolverine if bloodlusted he just has way more control than logan does .
This cartoon had it all we better respect these old shows we will never see an adaptation a fraction close to this classic shows not even the movies have or will come close.
The support Wolverine gets from his fanboys in this Jean business is ridiculous. I hope you realize that, in the scenario they are in, Wolverine is the guy with the creepy obsession over Cyclops fiance/wife. I don't see how people like to ignore it.
I'm guessing people in the comments have yet to get past puppy love. Logan loved Jean, and she loved him. But she loved Scott more. Logan felt as though he was the better man. The way you're told to handle it is to get over it and move on, but until you've been in a situation like this, you don't know how you'll respond. Love can bring out the best and worst in people.
That's too problematic at the end of the day. It doesn't even matter if some of us don't experience that situation. Even those on the outside can call BS on clinging to a love who clearly loves someone else. Is it worth for Wolverine to have Jean at the cost of his acquaintance Cyclops and possibly earn his ire that gets in the way of them doing their duty? That's too much trouble for one woman. Point stands. Logan needs to let her go. If Jean wanted him, she would've acted on it already. But she wasn't budging. Logan clinginess had more to do with his past loves he lost prior to the X-men. At least that's my thought of it.
I know how it goes. I have this one girl who's split between her feelings for me and the guy she's engaged to (and has a daughter with). Tears me up inside just thinking about it. :(
Yeah I've been there,I've had bad break-ups where even after months have passed, the instant I'd see my ex a wave of anger, jealousy and sadness swept me. But I've also had break-ups where it hurt for almost a week but I was fine come Monday and didn't feel anything, just moved on.
I personally find love triangles annoying. Looking back, I'm glad they killed off Jean and Scott in X-3. Logan's obsession with Jean is a little too much both here and in the movies, and it's a little sad for Scott how easily she falls for Logan.
Yes Jean and Logan have an attraction for each other but she would never cheat on Scott. When you get married there will be other people you attracted to from time to time and vice versa. Doesn't mean you'll cheat
Midnight Kyoto Snacks ye but the movies suck and have Notting to do with either versions of these X men. Just took the names and totally made different characters with them. Deadpool Colossus is more like Colossus than the one from the actual X men movies none off their backgrounds are similar to their counterparts. And the new Logan proves again Fox has no idea how to use these characters.
Wolverine fanboys need to remember that Wolverine practically betrayed mutant cause by trying to convince The Avengers to 'arrest' Hope Summers in AvX story. Then he made the similar mistake again by 'pushing away' Kitty Pryde in last chapter of Battle of the Atom. But least he redeemed himself in his death. He died a hero.
Long Tang it was Phoenix that killed Xavier not Cyclops. The phoenix took control of his mind he was never equipped to handle that kind of power. He didn't even choose to have it it was forced upon him by Tony Stark's bumbling efforts.
Two things with Rogue being touched...she might kill you and second she have to deal with your memories, and have to do some mental battle when it's too much
This fight was such a tease and i'm glad it was..Cyclops optic blasts are on par with cosmic rays and he can pull his energy from an unlimited source so the winner of an all out fight is better left to arguments.
Ahora que me acuerdo cuando era niño veía ésta serie y nunca vi que acá a Wolverine lo hirieran por eso nunca pude ver su poder de regeneración no sabía que lo tenía hasta que lo vi en las películas de Hugh Jackman
did they ever explain how that worked? At the start of the Krakoa era they just showed Jean being with both of them and eveyone being aware, but they never explicitly told how that worked.
if there ever is a new xmen cartoon I hope its allowed to be more mature this one had to jump hoops to be as good as it was the creators really had to fight to make it what it was and not just something geared to 10 year olds to sell toys.
***** Yeah well there's several actually serious X-moments where he's not. Like him not even laying a hit on Spider-man until Spidey let his guard down. Or Cyclops easily maneuvering around him and him never once being able to dodge Scott's eye beams. Let's face it. Only reason Logan ever does stuff he can't (like heal after all his flesh came off or defeat Lobo) was because of popularity. And Old Man Logan isn't officially canon. And Cyclops didn't kill all the X-men because he's chose not too. They're his friends. He may sometimes do morally gray things but that's something he'll never do on purpose. Even though if he really wanted to, he could nuke all of them.
***** Actually. For some odd reason, Scott's beams actually have stopped him. Not permanently but they are effective. Plus Scott never goes all out on him. Also, if we're going non-canon (since Scott has outsmarted and outfought Logan in actual canon), how about when Scott melt's Logan's skin off and leaves him a hot mess. Yeah, if Logan was so tough, how come he didn't get back up and kill Scott? I mean he had no problem sneak attacking Scott and leaving him to die earlier. How come when he actually was picking a fight with his rival, he didn't get back up to finish the job? He healed eventually, but he lost that fight. Let's also not forget that Hulk and Deadpool have beaten Logan just as many times as he's beaten them. And the way he beat them normally wouldn't have stopped them. Banner has been shot in the face before and that didn't stop the Hulk. So how come stabbing Hulk in the head would put Banner to sleep? As for Wade... idk, his power is popularity as well, but remember when he killed the whole Marvel Universe? That wasn't canon but hey, you just said canon doesn't matter. No doubt that Logan is tough. I don't hate him. I'm not even saying it's impossible for him to beat Scott. But it's not like Scott can't beat him, either. Scott has beaten him (in canon) more than Logan has returned the favor? How? Scott just fights smarter. It also helps that if Scott ever got cornered, he could unleash hell on his opponent. It might not kill Logan (it certainly would kill an unpopular Logan) but it'll stop him and that's all Scott aims for really. He's not trigger happy like Logan. He will kill if he has to, but he's not like Logan who sees murder as the best solution to everything.
***** Sorry. Logan's code is just flimsy sometimes. He chews on Scott for training kids, but he has trained just as many kids, particularly little girls. He talks about loyalty and stuff but he kept trying to steal Scott's wife. Chews on Scott for once making the team retreat, then in Schism, he is so insistent the team retreat that he tries to blow up their island. He says he'd rather bring criminals to justice but then whenever he's along side Cap, Spidey, and Scott (back when they were friends), he seems to be super trigger happy. Just look at AvX... he was gonna kill Hope Summers. She's a kid. A little girl, even. Hell, a little girl that is similar to the woman he apparently loved. And yet, he was gonna kill her rather than just detain her like Cap wanted or defend her like Scott wanted. See, my problem with Logan isn't exactly the character himself, but how over the years he's been reduced to a self-righteous flip-flopper. He used to be the badass anti-hero, working his way towards redemption. However, I guess he became so popular that now he'll always take the moral high ground no matter who he's talking to. It makes him come off as hypocritical and I don't like it. I hope Marvel fixes this, because he really is an interesting character. Death of Wolverine is one of the best arcs ever because it brought Logan back to what I loved so much about him... even if he ended up dying.
And THIS is when Sinister switched them, isn't it? Jean probably didn't even get a chance to warm the marital bed before Scott was 'bumpin' uglies' with Madeline. 🤯😲😧
Richard Balboa so are the majority of superheroes, some examples Batman: traumatized millionaire who dresses up in tights and beats the snot out of thugs. Moon knight : suffers from split personality disorder and kills for a Egyptian god. Punisher: don't really need to explain
Richard Balboa They liked Wolverine in video games brcause he is fast and effective. Comic fans are split between the group who found Wolverine as either badass loner or overly edgy.
sigh I miss drama and intrigue like this, yet ANOTHER aspect modern comics have totally screwed up trying to let everyone "win" by literally changing the character's sexuality to accommodate it...screw Modern marvel
At the end of the day, I always loved cyclops and wolverine on the same team cyclops is highly underrated, and when the X-Men legends game first came out, I would always use those two on the same team no matter what it was wolverine cyclops, icemaker, possibly storm because of the combination of destruction
Uh no..wolverine in the movies is weak...he didn't have martial arts in his background and he can't land two hits to mystique and sabertooth in the first x men
joeofmacabre07 in the comics Wolverine until recently has never been able to take on sabretooth who has a tradition to find Logan on his birthday and almost killing him just to add how him he can
Marvel had a funny way of rocking the cradle. When they first met Jean was 17 No one knows how old Logan is but if he's up with Professor X then he should've been in his 40s.
I remember this scene well. Hell I think I just watched this episode again in the past few weeks. Even as a kid I never understood how anyone in the world would sympathize with Wolverine on this. lol
I don't really empathize with him, but I am in a similar situation myself. I know that I am morally wrong here. You have principles and boundaries but sometimes someone comes along and just blows it all up. Then you find yourself in the wrong, just unable and not even willing to do the right thing, IF this person is just that special and you feel like you are the better man. Maybe this whole situation will teach me something, I don't know. But yeah I can totally relate to Logan without any empathy.
