this from what John Bryne (who created the suit ) say about it! Wolverine is not fashion conscious, clearly, but he is enormously proud, and if he is going to wear a costume at all, it would be one of his own design. Presumably the blue and yellow was government issue (which would explain a lot!), and since he rejected Fang's costume precisely because it was not his own, it makes sense for him to want one that officially declares his independence.
Hugh Jackman is Australian hmmm interesting future feature idea. Singer possibly watched this as a kid so another hmmmmm incidentally Wolvie is Canadian...Jackman had a flat American accent so you never know
Macrochenia No... you're actually wrong on that. When Wolverine was first introduced in the Hulk, he was supposed to be Canadian. The writer was unsure on how to write a Canadian accent and once the comic was published readers believed it was an Australian accent. His next three appearances in comics embraced this and made the character an Australian. This was then abandoned due to people not being able to take the character too seriously and then returned to his Canadian roots.
G'day Wolverine well he is hugh jackman so that makes perfect sense but how did they know that wolverine was going to be played by an Aussie in the future my mind is blown!!!
Clearly this version of Wolverine (from the 1978-1989 aniamed Marvel Universe) is Austrailian. That's why he used a claw as a shish kabob stick. This particular version of Wolverine also appeared in "Pryde of the X-Men" pilot that was never picked up and ended this Marvel Universe. I don't know about "Pryde", on but here he sounds like he's voiced by Michael Bell.
@Stealthsucks He was actually a young person like everyone else when he first appeared in the 70's up into the early 80's when this episode came out. They didn't start making him older and crankier until they drew him unmasked around Uncanny X-Men #200...
I remember Hoffman bagging on it like it was yesterday. He said something to the effect of "It's so funny that they gave him a French accent. Just because he's from Canada!"
@willowrhayne And sadly; There's no way of clearing it up though many companies have tried. It seems the older characters origins get, the more muddled the continuity gets. Captain America is the lone example; He will never get old... The only thing that has changed is how many years he was frozen before thawing out. Originally it was about 20 years, then in the 80's-90's it was changed to 50 years... Today they just say "frozen for decades".

@TheZombieJC It was just the writers own stupidity. Some people think Wolverine didn't yet have an origin, or that he was suppose to be Aussie back then.. But that fails.. In his very first appearance when he attacked the Hulk they were in Canada. And while nothing outwardly states he was Canadian; The issue states he was working for the Canadian government (Which is later retconned as Alpha Flight; A superhero branch of the Canadian government).
@samurphy Nope , he`s from Edmonton , Alberta , British Columbia , Canada . John Byrne chose Edmonton as Logan`s birthplace becuse Byrne himself was raised there . However even before this revelation , Logan was already long since established as a proud Canadian ( though not so much of the Canadian government for obvious reasons ) . He was briefly portrayed as American but due to backlash from Canadian fans of The Character , he was quickly retconned back to Canadian .
