Years ago, I used to play this cd so much that even my neighbors knew the words AND no one ever told me to turn it down or off. I would see my neighbor in her garden singing to this song especially. Still a great song /cd to this day!!

Taken me 42 years to realize what a masterpiece this song is. The freaky thing is if you turn the sound off at a disco, the people's feet make the exact sound of the main drum beat. Our local DJ realized this in the 80s and used to do it often. Wizadry is that.
My Dad is an 83yo Belfast man, who lives in Australia. He spent a couple of years living in NZ with his brother....anyhoo, this is one of the very few songs from the last few decades that he knows. He is known to say, "how bizarre,...how bizarre" at the most appropriate moments. Love you, Dad.

@2.40 the rather nice looking blonde backing singer is Dashiell Rae, she released her own album 'Songs Without Words' in 1986. Dashiell now works as a music editor in TV and film and won an Emmy award for this. She edited the music for Gladiator, The Brothers Grimm and Hannibal Rising amongst others.

In my opinion i find it pretty outrageous how in the 80s they were writing incredibly groovy melodies for fun... switch forward 40 years and there's nothing that competes with the level of pure beauty the artists from that era were producing. I mean across the board of genres, the music was in a league of their own. This is utter groove.
My daughter is turning 14 this year 2020 and she loves this kind of music because i play such when i cook or clean the house. Her friends do not get how she loves and sings along to such. I totally love it.

I'm 32 and the same thing happened to me. Like I knew who Bobby Womack was but this gem totally slipped me. Idk how I missed this (Womack and Womack). I'm familiar with so much music from the era, New Jack Swing (sometimes her singing reminds some of this), MJ, Hip hop, Prince, New Edition, etc. But never this

I'm telling you, I used to hear this song when i was in my final year in college, and even then it gave me nostalgia about something that hasn't even happened yet. Even now that I listen to it, it makes me feel heartbroken for nothing in particular.

This song rocks me since 1989...........My moms boss bought this record on vinyl for her. The female vocalist is soul singer the late Sam Cooke daughter and the man is singer the late Mary Wells ex husband Cecil Womack who along with his brothers were the Valentinos who backed Sam Cooke on his records in the early 60s. Her mom married Bobby Womack right after her dads death in December 1964. I tell you they can write a few good songs regarding their lives. Womack and Womack did put out some good songs and had a big family too. Hot song.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a songwriter using swears/expletives. It's their choice. It's often an expression of intense frustration or anger. Bands like Guns n Roses, Rage against the Machine use expletives to demonstrate anger about war, politics and injustice. That's their artistic license. It's a subjective thing. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's wrong. And I'm not sure what you mean by sexual content. Why is it wrong for an artist to write about sex or issues on sexuality? Nina Simone was writing about sex in the 1960s. We all have sexuality so why wouldn't you sing about it?? I don't get that at all.
A song that brings bitter sweet memories to me. One minute my late x husband and I were dancing to this song the next minute things changed and the marriage ended. I still listen to it as it heals my soul ❤ 💛 💕
