What a husband/partner to be able to do CPR for 9 minutes at that age and struggling to keep his composure while his wife lies there struggling for her life. That's true love. ❤😢

I live in Canada and I am shocked at the levels of drug abuse and homelessness in the last ten years. It's everywhere and only getting worse. The fact is very few Canadians care much about the most vulnerable people in Canada and since they don't vote, the politicians don't either. This going in a city where teenagers drive Rolls Royce cars and McLaren supercars. We need to get our priorities straight.

I remember when I had my suicide attempt. I was rushed from the ER to the hospital, too out of it to talk. I was laying there and just remember the sad looks on the paramedics faces. This episode reminded me a lot about that. The sadness on their faces with both the teen and the lady. Feels so strange, how it can effect so many unrelated people. I hope they're all doing alright.

Helen and Julie should never feel as though their work doesn't make any difference. People can benefit, have their lives totally turned around by one kind and loving word from one person...and that one person may never know the positive and life effect they had on someone. My mom was an EMT for 33 years. I am so proud of the work she did on service. The only reason she left service was because of a severe injury she suffered while off duty. I was on service for five year and can empathize with the carers. That young EMT who was interacting with the toddler was wonderful. Some the hardest calls are for children. I live in Alberta and its the same here. But very hit an miss. I've had 3 ambulance rides in my life as I have an autoimmune disorder and I've had an ambulance that went above and beyond for me and ill remember there care forever but ive also had an ambulance where I had to report them because of how badly they treated me. I had a perforates bowel related to my lupus a i could have died but the ambulance did not take me seriously and acted annoyed that they had to take me to hospital and that I was screaming in pain, at one point the lady said "if you stop crying ill give you some morphine for your pain but you have to shut up" im not even kidding she said those words to me. Yet when I got to the hospital they rushed me into emergency surgery and was told I was hours away from dying. So I reported that ambulance for treating me poorly and putting me in more danger. But I still respect our ambulance service, its not an easy job and I do appreciate that they come and help when you call and some of them are amazing people.

He wouldn’t stay at the hospital to have his jaw looked at, wouldn’t pick up the key to his own place that would mean he would be inside and off the cold streets, and he had the cojones to turn the place down for any reason much less such a stupid one.

I was a medic for almost 10 years and I’ve seen things no one should ever see. One problem I had was the crew who saw the elderly woman with pain. EMS can usually check a pulse ox, heart rate, blood pressure, and an EKG. I was a medic in the US and if a patient wanted to go to the ER you had to take them no matter how foolish the call is. Very few places in the US allow medics to refuse to transport. There is a good reason. We couldn’t take bloodwork and run the results, perform a cat scan or even an x ray. If something happens to the patient because medics stated that they were fine and refused to transport to the hospital it’s a huge liability.

They are overworked understaffed and underpaid and that needs to be addressed and HAS needed to be addressed for some time now. What makes it worse is it's worldwide here in the US we have the same problems. In fact, the city I live in which is the third-largest in my state announce at the end of last week they are suspending our fire department ambulance service for a year. We are in the middle of a Pandemic not to mention the county I live in and the one next to it has some of the highest numbers of virus cases in the state.

Its plain and simple.... if they dont like their job then they should quit. When you are responsible for a person's life there is room for errors. Just because they are over worked and under paid doesnt mean they need to take it out on patients. No excuses are ever needed!

I had to do CPR on my father-in-law in the hospital when he stopped breathing and the nurse left the room to go call the code and get the crash cart. I was doing compressions and saying, “Breath PawPaw Breath!!” With every compression. The code team made it to the room. The nurse took over the the compressions. My father in law didn’t make it. He passed away on April 07, 2021. All that is left of the Pope Family on my husband’s side is His brother who is a drug addicted, my son and myself. I pray for my brother in law that God will turn his life around and break ties with the people he calls friends. I fear he will be found deceased from a drug over dose. On April 24, 2021, my father-in-law’s brother passed away. Our family has lost so many family members in 3 years mother in law, my husband, my son’s best friend, and my father in law, there are more. Aunt and Uncles, several cousins various ages. 12 deaths in one year July 2017 to July 2018

I wish I could tell them they make the world a better place every single day, even on their days off. I hope they catch the people calling in hoaxes and make them pay! Pranks have a time and place, and that is NEVER emergency services! Prank friends, family, neighbors, but NEVER emergency services!

The ambulance driver said it correctly..... you can’t help somebody that doesn’t want the help!!!! For being homeless it sounds like he’s had other chances for help and he is blowing them off. It’s sad because if he were to change his mind he has already burned so many bridges!!!!!!💔💔💔. As a mother of 6 younger adult children it breaks my heart💔. A a sister and a daughter to two different males I know what it’s like when they wouldn’t accept any kind of help!!!! One is an alcoholic/drug abuser and my father committed suicide in front my sister, not knowing she had followed him into the woods. She is a was a teen that will have to live with that image in her head!!!

Sonja- my heart goes out to you and your sister. I'm so sorry about your father hon. It may not teach us what to do as a parent, but these events do teach us what we don't want to do don't they? Hope your sister has been to help, to learn how to cope. From one mother to another- all my love 💓 💗
