In Hungary, a rich baron discovers that there are extensive oil deposits underneath nearby properties owned by villagers. He manages to convince all the property owners to sell to him, except for a few properties owned by Jewish families. Infuriated at their refusal to sell to him, he attempts, with the help of some corrupt local police, to have the men charged with the murder of a local woman, who in reality actually committed suicide. Also known as THE VICIOUS CIRCLE.

As I started watching this movie, I wasn't sure if I was going to stay with it. But it drew me in and the intensity of the courtroom scenes kept me riveted all the way through. I thought it was a very well made and acted movie.

Wow a rare dramatic role by character actor Frank Ferguson who I last saw on Svengolie's presentation of "Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein" a few weeks ago. Reminds me of a show trial in Kenosha, Wisconsin recently that came to the same verdict based on the facts

This is one hell of an interesting film it really shows how most judicial systems are corrupt or rigged to help the rich but this is nothing new business as usual and thank you for sharing this old gem.

To be fair, the "judicial system" in this case, proved itself fair. All the court officers with the exception of the prosecution were seeking truth.

A story well told without all the pizzaz and bling. The movie had the right pace very intense. Poor girl though, it's always about the social standing in life.

At about 59:00, the defense attorney's (Conrad Nagel) remarks against the miscarriage of justice rings true like it would today, with the rule of law discarded and the corrupt judicial system we have here and now threatening our very way of life. The American DOJ should be forced to watch this scene and then explain themselves. *If they can.

Yes, we're in a state of judicial crisis. Our courts are impotent when it comes to those who are wealthy and connected. All the "special" people and corrupt attorneys cannot make a move. The rich just don't see justice. It only "works" for the poor and the hard working citizens.

An enjoyable movie once they go to trial. Maybe 100 reversible trial errors, but overall a great old movie.

It was very interesting to see the difference between the Westminster system of court procedure I am accustomed to, to other nations procedure . Like marbleman 52, I became engrossed . A no name cast, of fine reformers.

Testimonies were cut off sooner than if it was a real courtroom which made the movie longer than it would have been. It did have a good plot, however.

Had to stop watching due to how close to real 😕 today. Such criminals those in power to walk all over the rights of those with out power. Not a good watch if your sick of the lack of Justice in this present day.
