There is someone for everyone I see it all the time in real life, the mall the grocery store. The problem is that some people who have a less desirable dating pool like the idea that some super handsome or beautiful person is attracted to them so they get swept away. They like the idea and fantasy that some super hot suave guy wants them damn well knowing that in their everyday life it’s not as realistic. Harsh truth. So when it’s online they can live out their fantasy. Honestly, these people usually fall victim to this because of superficial reason regardless of what they tell the public. Desperation is a bitch

True. I dated a man for 5 months, real life, in person. After 5 months, he tried to squeeze money out of me. I told him that I wasn't going to give him any money. I would treat for dinners & lunches, put gas in his car, just, no cash. A month later, he tried again to get money from me for a reason he gave that I found to be a big lie. Although it hurt to let go of him, I knew that it was time. I took him out for dinner, brought with me any gift he had given to me. I gave the gifts back to him, wished him well I was crying & hurting for a long time after that. I got through it.

Well, they do tell the client (“victim”) that they’re filthy rich, but their money is “tied up.” There always a promise of much-more money later, if they give them money now. She did not say, but I have heard and read enough of these to know that there is ALWAYS greed of the client (“victim”) involved. Always. She also did not say, but I would suspect this man told her he is quite younger than she, and that “age is just a number,” and stole photos that show him as beautifully handsome. He then told her that “looks don’t matter. It’s what’s on the inside that counts,” lol.

Dudes that ask women for money at the beginning of relationships are losers. I'm a dude. That being said, this is 100% the women's fault - unless he (or his friends) used a gun and robbed you, or held you against your will. I'll say, women scamming men out of money the usual line of business. Via onlyfans, strip club, gold digging, russian bridal websites, alimony, and many more... When dudes get scammed it is 100% the man's fault unless the women (or her friend) hold's him unwillingfully - (drugged and robbed, invited to hotel room and her boyfriend comes out and robs him, ect)...

She didn't have that money. She went into debt for him and eventually had to file for bankruptcy. These scammers promiss you they pay you back (and even more). They show you how rich they are, pictures of their beautiful big house, their bank statements with millions on them etc. But they ask for money because (again and again) something has happened to them that prevents them from accessing their own money at that moment. And vulnerable people full of love hormones fall for their smooth talk s.a. "I love you so much, you are the love of my life, I want to marry you etc. etc. There are people who sell their house, take out loans, etc. for these scammers until they find themselves on the street. These scammers are scum of the earth. But I don't understand why people go this far for a stranger. Are they desperate for attention, for love ?? If you are a good person, who had suffered much, you hope one day you meet someone special, and by now, you know the perfect package isnt going to present itself. Dont shame this woman. Shame on you. Its a shame we have people preying on people. Its a shame we hear “law of attraction” and things like love yourself and so when you finally DO love yourself and feel worthy, expecting good things to come because you put in work and went through a lot. If it worked out, it would be a non issue. But some of us are used/abused, just watching others have love and lives that we hope to one day have, knowing we will have to sacrifice this or that, knowing life wont hand you someone perfectly. We do the work we are asked or told to do. Then bullshit shows up to court us. Its really not fair. Brainwashed with movies and tv shows, brainwashed with “love yourself first” and any other bad advice. That maybe after years of hell and being alone, that you could have something, someone… venture into feeling worthy. And bam. Its truly horrible because it stems from being treated poorly as a child and a pattern that is truly hard to break. This woman is lucky she had friends and found real support. Dont shame her. Some people are out here doing their best, and dont see it coming, because their minds and hearts could never think that way. And when you DO think that way… its a horrible reality anyway. “Yeah what do you expect” type attitude really pisses me off because it shows how accepted scandal is in society. How prevalent.

Right. I used to work at a grocery store at the service desk and one of the things I had to do was run the customer service desk. During training, they flat out told us that whenever we suspect someone getting scammed, we need to discretely file a SAR report on the individual when we suspect someone is being scammed. This in effect blocks and bans the sender and receiver from wiring and getting money. What she probably was doing was going from store to store to avoid detection and this is why she was never flagged in the system. It wasn’t until 3-4 years ago that now we can see on our end the transaction history of the customer to prevent this from happening. If he’s from Australia and has an African sounding name and accent, she should’ve walked away.

And did you notice she said more than once "We were in this relationship". So she naively thought that she was in, an actual relationship with someone that she had never met! So wrong. And after all these years of this happening, and all of us knowing about it. Why oh why do people still do this!
@crocadoodle7101

And she talks about his “business” and his “son”. She has been scammed but still believes some of his story. Nothing this person said to her was true. There was no romantic relationship, no son, no business trips. It was all a means to an end. I watch the Catfished stories and they all talk like this. When it’s over and they have lost tens of thousands of dollars they still seem to believe there was at a time a mutual love and they were some big wig engineer with a lot of bad luck. Mostly the scammed person is in very deep and it likely takes years for them to return to their full senses.

In most of these instances I have seen, the person being targeted for fraud is physically less attractive than the person they believe to be their potential love interest. Having healthy self esteem is fine, but one should honestly ask themselves, is this person typical of those who are normally romantically interested in me in my everyday life?

Yes this I agree with. I think it is a sense of arrogance that they probably ignored more normal unremarkable people in favour of some dreamboat because they have a heightened view of how attractive they are and what they are owed. When you are older you are lucky if you find a new relationship. Nothing is guaranteed. Go for somebody normal. Don't go for the dreamboat that you think you deserve. It is arrogance.

exactly. and the scammers know that. and i feel that is a big reason women look online. they have been unsuccessful meeting men in real life and that is too bad but then they go online and some guy with a gorgeous photo starts love bombing them and they are madly in love. i don't believe they don't know that the guy in the photo isn't the real guy nor that a guy that looks like that is going to be searching for them. they enjoy the fantasy, they get caught up in it to the point of addiction and then are willing to pay to keep it going. it's so unhealthy and sad but I'm sorry, i don't believe they aren't aware of what is happening.

(I have heard that many scammers ask for a small amount, then progress to larger sums.). Mt friend waited ,4 one month b4 she told me about her guy scammer. The reason: because she was embarrassed to admit she was so gullible. When she told her scammer she didn't have $50 (for sure she didn't have it), he never called again. She was lucky to have learned early in his game.

I online dated for about 3 years in New York City mind you, until I met my husband- also online. It takes a special kind of person for this to happen to them. Not to insult anyone but… I’m in the “how the f**k do people keep falling for this?!” Boat. 1- don’t send people money 2- date people that you CAN meet! Not people in other countries! 3- accents don’t match country of origin- red flag 4- don’t send you personal info (photos) to someone new - actually don’t send that to anyone. You never know what exes could do with your stuff once you break up. 5- if someone is telling you “I love you” or getting too into you too fast… run! It may not be a scam, but at the very least this person has emotional issues. Follow those 5 points. This will never happen to you. I think often times people that fall for these scams are actually extremely self conscious people that don’t WANT to met people in person.

No matter how many times my husband and I warned her it was a scam, it didn't matter. She had super low self esteem at the time due to being divorced from my father recently and nobody could convince her it was a scam. She called us crying one day saying she couldn't pay rent and was going to be kicked out of her place. We paid her rent with the condition that she would never again send money to someone she had never met before. She's been very careful since but it put a strain on our personal relationship for a while. It's hard to watch it happen to someone you love dearly, especially when they won't listen to reason.
