A dog isn't an accessory like a designer handbag it is a living breathing animal with thoughts and feelings. No matter what blood line they come from you should love them unconditionally.

I have a Pomeranian/Shih Tzu and he’s the sweetest little man. The designer dog craze has gone too far if breed makeup matters this much to people.

my family and i thought my now 13 year-old havanese was a shih tzu. we were told she was a shih tzu. does it matter? hell no cause she's apart of our family and we love her with all our hearts.

It's very understandable to have a breed preference, or to get upset when a dog you spent a lot on wasn't what you wanted. If we applied this on something that wasn't alive, it would be considered false advertising, which is illegal. All that aside, getting rid of that dog for this reason alone is quite unethical. I think we can all agree on that. They didn't abuse their dog, just gave it away, which is the best thing they could have done to be honest. So basically it's a ''what can you do'' sort of situation. It was a selfish choice but things turned out fine for the dog, and that's all that matters.

Did the same thing, turns out my Labradoodle is majority cocker spaniel, and only 25% labrador and 25% poodle, and we spent $3000 on it, very disappointed with the breeder.

As a dog groomers daughter I’ve heard a lot of owners arguing with my mom about the breed of their dog. “Well the breeder said this...” “well they lied to you” “no they didn’t” “I’m sorry but your so called purebred American pit bull is a German shepherd” “you don’t know what your talking about” and then they leave. People will tell you anything to sell a dog.

I got a weird look from the doctor when I ask if my dog in 3DS is a purebred Akita.

Maybe breeders should be held accountable, especially at those prices. Whether you decide to purchase a pure breed or not, that's a deceptive practice and maybe the papers should have DNA testing required before it can be certified.
