I suspect that scammers do this order to help make the scam work better. If the woman is receiving affection from both her so-called boyfriend and her so-called stepchild, that will make her feel love and more willing to send money. It’s another type of love bombing. I pushed to meet him and he immediately informed me that he was about to leave for Dubai for 6 weeks to conduct business. He wanted to chat while he was in Dubai and meet when he returned. I said, let me know when you get back and can meet. Never heard from him again. What a joke.

You can build feelings from anticipation. That’s normal. The problem is ignoring red flags before making important decisions. I once matched on Bumble with one of these romance scammers. “She” strung me along for about a month before I called “her” bluff. I said we need to meet up in person or go our separate ways and that I had no interest in cryptocurrency. I never heard from “her” after that.

Oh, yes. They frequently do. That's a whole other scam. I received letters (pre email and social media) from convicts trying to start up a correspondence and I'm sure the goal was to get money. I never responded to any of them. It did freak me out as to how they got my name and contact information, though.

I cant understand parents exposing their kid and /or their pic to a complete stranger on the internet. It doesnt matter how long theyve been chatting with someone. They have NO idea who they're really talking to. It could be a sadistic killer for all they know.

It's so hard to hear and say. But with it comes to affairs of the heart these monsters know how to pull and pull hard. The victim believes what she/he wants to believe. Because of these stories, more people become aware of the scam which makes it is harder and harder to trust. Even those you meet in person should be scrutinized. Just be careful out there folks.

When you consider the amount of money they dole out to these a-holes, THAT is proof. It's just like paying the dope dealer.

There should be a way to connect men who fall for romance scams with women who fall for romance scams. They all have plenty of time to text and chat. The only hitch is that people who fall for romance scams are average-looking older people, which isn’t enough for many of them. Maybe they can all use fake photos?
