Ironically it the same for many in the white community in Midwest of the US. Our culture originated 100 years ago by families giving it all up to travel a continent for cheap land and struggling to survive then to small communities where everybody knew each other's business so if you'd screwed up too badly then it wouldn't be getting better anytime soon or you'd leave. The larger cities here did away with that a lot when they urbanized which I think is a shame, it worked well for marriage and life.
