Woman Sees Lost $10K Necklace From Safe Deposit Box on TV

Jenny Morsch used to do all her banking at Chase Bank in Orlando, Florida and kept a safe deposit box there as well. To her horror, she says, one day all her cash and priceless possessions were gone. Morsch sued the bank but the judge dismissed the case. Three years later, she saw her $10,000 diamond necklace on TV. It was featured during a segment about Florida's unclaimed property division auction. Chase apparently shipped her items to the state back in 2012, mistaking her box as abandoned. Morsch recovered all of her cash, jewelry, and gold coins. Morsch is now appealing the judge’s ruling. Chase Bank denies her allegations and any wrongdoing.

I don't understand how they could think that a safety deposit box was abandoned. She was still paying either monthly or in a yearly contract with the bank. She also needs to sue them for the amount she paid them every year since 2012 because they shipped off the contents of the safety deposit box and still took her money to rent it.

@@derekbaker777 It's not justifying. He's saying that the agents were doing their job fully supported by FBI policy. I've read about this case. The FBI used civil forfeiture to confiscate the assets of the vault company. But the FBI also treated the privately owned contents in the boxes as assets of the vault company and took it all. That's why the courts ruled against the FBI who fought it all the way.

My wife and I were going to spend 3 months in Paris France. We planned on locking up our savings in a lock box at chase. We also planned on taking 30k cash in a bag with us for spending and having fun. Then Covid hit us, never thought a pandemic would save us.

Think about how easy it would be for the employees to have stolen all of the items and just turned over 10% or nothing. There’s nothing this woman could’ve ever done about it. The employees were completely honest, it was just a mistake by an employee and the paperwork obviously got filed in the wrong place. She got all of her stuff back, everyone was honest. I’m not sure how anybody is hating on Chase when it seems pretty obvious this is a paperwork issue. Have they realize they sent the stuff to the state has abandoned property everything could’ve been reversed instead Chase had to pay Legal bills and risk more damage. Including going on the news back then and everything. And also noticed that any employee could’ve stolen the items and this woman never would’ve got them back. But instead she got everything back, because of both luck and because the Chase employees were honest. A mistake is not the same thing as dishonesty. I feel like this is a symptom of people not registering nuance. They just watch this video, and since something bad happened their brain looks at it as a completely black or white situation, instead of looking at the nuance.

I currently bank at Chase but after hearing Jenny Morsch's story towards the end, I'm seriously considering closing my account. What Chase did was obvious deceit by not disclosing during the initial lawsuit that they accidentally sent her belongings to the State believing that her safe deposit box was abandoned. They were hoping for a "he said / she said" type of argument which worked since the initial case was dismissed by the judge and of course Chase had their fancy expensive lawyers to back them up on this.
@iMatti00
@iMatti00 5 месяцев назад
They just watch this video, and since something bad happened their brain looks at it as a completely black or white situation, instead of looking at the nuance.c
