Being a cat mom I can feel each and everything she mentioned about her motherhood.

I cracked up when the woman's dad was trying to play with Kit. What a wonderful grandpa! And his cat noises were surprisingly convincing!

When my mother died I eventually gave her cat to a friend, because I couldn't keep three in apartment. Friend's boyfriend wasn't a "cat person". Now, boyfriend has a tattoo of the cat on his chest.

I was never really a big cat person until my husband surprised me one day with this little feisty kitten that needed a home. She was found on a soccer field in the rain all alone and needed help. We already had a cat (his before we met)..so i was like "no..we can't keep her", "how could you not ask me first?",yada yada. Fast forward 8 yrs later...she is the light of my life, my best bud and we share a bond that I wouldn't trade for anything.

one of the BEST stories on The Dodo. the whole entire story is breathtaking. it is exactly how i felt when a sick puppy was put in my arms. i became, " A Mother," and it was a divine experience.

OMG! That Sounds like my story. I was fostering a kitten; next thing you know, I couldn't give her away. Fast forward 3 years later and I'm the biggest cat person! I enjoy every minute of being a cat mom.

People declare they "are not a cat person" until they actually have one. These enchanting creatures have the power to make us crave more. So many new cat people popping up everyday. I love cats.

The same thing happened to me - found a baby in the woods, nursed him to health, fell in love, and we lived happily ever after until he became old and passed away. I've never been so heartbroken. The best relationship of my life - not kidding.

I love that this woman was "not a cat person" but still decided to keep and hand feed this baby by bottle every 2 hours around the clock until she was weaned, just right off the bat! LOL!!! Sooo many would have just dropped her off at a shelter, or worse. So grateful that this precious, tiny girl found her way to a kind and caring Mommy!

This is one of my favorite cat videos . I never get tired of watching it. Even though Jodie was not a cat perso she was still kind and compassionate enough to take in a helpless, defenseless kitten,temporarily. Watching her become a cat person and falling inl love with “the kitten / the kit / Kit” and end up keeping her was truly heartwarming . If and when Jodie ever decides to have a human child then chances are she will be a wonderful mother. But it will be somewhat tougher and more difficult and complex than raising Kit. Yet I’m quite sure tha Jodie will be a super great mother.

Can I just say, that Jodie should read audiobooks for a living? Her pacing and delivery of the entire lead up to "She was Kit" is just perfect.

The tipping point must have been the look from those amazing eyes of Kit"s. This is an example of the power of a kitten. I also have a first hand example. I taught secondary school for many years, including 30 years in the same school in a small rural town (teaching the kids of kids you taught year after year is another story). I had a stray that I had had for a few years that I accidentally ran over on my way to work one morning. I only mentioned it to a few colleagues and not my students but the word got out. At the end of lunch time one day (this is about 25 years ago) two girls came to the staff room with a kitten that the groundsman had found under one of the buildings (he adopted the other kitten he found) then they quickly left. So, I am about to go to the last two lessons of the day with this tiny ginger bundle who I put in an empty photocopy paper box. In both lessons, the students asked what was in the box and I told them it wasn't their concern and they needed to concentrate on their work. However, these were teenagers, so they genetically can't mind their own business and they kept pestering. Eventually, after about 20 minutes I told them. The overwhelming response from both groups was "You're lying. You don't have a kitten. Prove it." After berating them for questioning my honesty, I realised the blackmail opportunities and said they would get to see the kitten in the last five minutes of the lesson if they stopped being nosy and got some work done. Thanks to one cute kitten (redundant description, as there is no other kind of kitten than a cute one), the last five minutes of those two lessons were the best behaved those 14 and 15 year olds were for that whole school year. The kitten, who I named "Charley Farley" (after the character in some of "The Two Ronnies" skits), hadn't finished making an impact however. At the end of the school day, when I let him out of the box in the staff room, he ran under the fridge and it took five of us to get him out. Later, at about 2am that night he escaped from the spare room I put him in, got into my bedroom, crawled up the side of the bed, got under the covers and bit my big toe. All true. As is the mesmerizing power of kittens.

I was never a cat person. My Bruno changed that. He was one of the greatest loves of my life. Unfortunately, he got let out over night while I was out of town. And we never found him. I cried for weeks. Sadly. I still cry 5 years later. I loved him more than I've ever loved any animal in the world. I just hope that wherever he is. He's healthy and happy

This was the sweetest story. The way she tells their story is so true yet hilarious. Cats have a way of finding their human. Of all the people/places she could have ended up, somehow she found YOU. It was meant to be. The 2 am "zoomies" around/across the bed had me laughing because I have a 15 year old Lola (she was born in my house, her parents were my cats) that STILL does the 2 am zoomies, hanging on my screens and everything lmao. I love this and fully appreciate how you feel. My cat was the baby I never had - she just turned up at my door - and filled my life with so much joy. Sadly, I have now lost her but she saw me through terrible times, the death of my husband and Mum a few months apart and really gave me a reason to go on. Enjoy your precious time together.

Myself never been a cat person, My all dogs passed away and a friend forced me to adopt her 5yo cat since she was moving to Saudi I adopted the cat without knowing what to do, At 1st he hissed at me,sometimes attacked me when I tried petting him but slowly we bonded and now he sleeps with me,follows me around,kissed me n fights with me only when I bath him. I had the same plan for my cat....he's now 9 years old and he's the clumsiest cat ever. Big happy bumbling boy. Most humbling experience ever raising a cat from a tiny little kitten, and have the same kitten grow to love you unconditionally.

This kitten is so freaking cute, I can’t take it. Now I know what a crazy aunt means when she says she just wants to “eat you.” I grew up a dog lover as we always has a dog & my family was lucky to have incredible dogs. Our collie mix Kilo lived nearly 20 years & she was so smart, sweet & loyal. I miss her terribly. After I got out of the Army one of my best buddies moved here to NYC with his cat & we became roommates. I fell in love with his cat Cali. Then I got a black domestic short hair named Chip & became a full blown Cat Daddy fanatic. I then adopted an adorable Norwegian Forest Cat named Calvin. He passed away almost 2 weeks ago unexpectedly & tragically. Chip & I miss him so much. I have been in a daze the past 2 week. I built a little shrine for his urn & am burning a candle & incense for him. I tell him that I miss him every day. The heartbreak sucks when you lose furry family but the rewards of being a pet parent are incredible. They are one of this life’s greatest gifts. I’d argue they help us leas healthier & happier lives. Not much can beat a wet nose, fuzzy face & wagging tail at the end of a stressful day. They bring us so much joy, laughter & love. They make us better people too. Pet lovers are grounded & gracious whereas those who mistreat pets are soulless & have no heart. Even cat & dog animals raise people’s spirit. Kudos to all those who work with, volunteer for & advocate for our pets. Whether you’re a veterinarian, shelter volunteer or help a cat colony out of your own pocket, I applaud you for all of your effort & hard work. You’re amazing. We still need to empty those shelters & find forever homes for everyone. Save a life & adopt! It didn’t cross my mind to adopt until I became a total cat dude. Now I can’t imagine a life without them. When I am able, I would love to have a couple of dogs & a few cats. Hell, if I win the lottery & can afford it, I would become Ace Ventura & have like 20 cats & 10 dogs plus I’d donate most of it to my amazing local shelter the North Shore Animal League here on Long Island. That reminds me. If you are able, I’m sure the ASPCA or your local shelter would be grateful if you volunteered or donated. Humans have government assistance & most can help themselves but our shelter pets are dependent on the heroic workers & volunteers & donations. Helping them is a an amazing act of charity. I donate to the ASPCA & my shelter. Also, many shelters have item wishlists where you can send them vital supplies they need. Let’s empty those shelters! 🐱 + 🐶 RULE! 🙂👍
