Captain_ Buzzkill it's ok tho she needs to face her fears to know that cats are actually not mean When the scratch is because they feel like they are in danger and scratching if their instinct
Bro, I smiled so hard when she decided to pet the cat herself. That is such a huge step in handling phobias- deciding to confront it on your own terms. I'm not quite there with my own phobias but, man, this makes me feel like I can do it.
People in the comments are like "Haha but it's not even scary!!" Well...yeah. That's the whole point of a Phobia. It's an irrational fear. It seems silly to other people, but in the person's mind it's a very REAL fear.
Sofia yeah but some animals actually are scary that people have phobias to like snakes and spiders it still might be ridiculous because they're probably not going to do anything to them but those animals are disgusting
Fact: This phobia really exists and there's nothing fun in it. It called Ailurophobia. Also, there's the opposite of it: Ailurophilia - extreme love of cats.
It’s literally just the same as someone having arachnophobia , nearly having a breakdown and then being able to touch a spider . Well done to that woman ❤️
jordanaug81 Except it kind of is. What will a tiny spider do to you? It’s an irrational fear cause chances are, 10/10 spiders you’ll come into contact with will not harm you in anyway. Cats can legit put people into the hospital if aggressive enough. Sure this can depend on where you’re from but for example in the USA, poisonous spider bites aren’t as common as cat attacks. And when you’re a small child and attacked by an animal you haven’t had close encounter with, it’ll almost solidify your perspective of them. This lady is actually making an effort to fight her fear, and you can’t claim it’s not something she struggles with.
@@heatherdierks6376 Most spider can in fact not kill you, and people are afraid of the ones that aren't lethal, too. One irrational fear is as good as the next one.
Its really easy to denounce people with fears of animals when you love that particular animal, because you feel like they hate something you love. But just understand a lot of these people had childhood trauma with said animal or were indoctrinated by their parents to be fearful, so it takes a lot of willpower and courage to confront that fear.
I can completely understand her fear of cats, because I'm the same way with dogs after being bit. I get panic attacks near dogs, so I avoid them, go around in circles if I see one nearby. I don't hate them, I love all animal, but I'm afraid of them.
Belle Raeburn it might be because they can sense your tension or fear through your body language. dogs gravitate towards happy and positivity like a human child so don't take it too personally
Kittens are a bit more hyper than older cats. They're probably not going to want to be held so they'll jump out if the girl's arms and scare the poor woman half to death 😂
Honestly, I feel the same way about most large flying insects so even though I'm a total cat lady I feel her pain. She did soooo much better than would have done if they asked me to pet a bee or hold a dragonfly.
I think that's a really good way of understanding someone else's perspective. I love cats. Spiders give me the creeps. If someone feels about cats the way I feel about spiders, then it could be just as difficult for them to change how they feel about cats as it would be for me to change how I feel about spiders. And my fear of spiders is actually pretty mild. I've seen people who are ten times as afraid of spiders as I am.
If the cat is mean to you it’s feeling the exact same way as you are. Terrified. Most cats are really nice and let you pick them up and pet them and all that. Just be nice to the cat, the cat will be nice to you, unless somehow somebody abused the cat and now it’s traumatized... that’s not very common though and if it is that’s horrible to whatever did that to them... now I’m just saying random stuff but yeah cats are okay they act like a person would, be nice if you’re nice, and some cats are more chill than others but yeah just try interacting with a cat if you’re friends have one, maybe first just look at them while someone’s holding, then slowly work forwards until you let the cat and can be with the cat while the cats on the ground.. I don’t really know how to end this comment so bye
Lets not be mean. Hell, I have a cat. Phobias are something that aren't chosen. You think her phobia is bad? Mine is of a bloody moth. Im scared to the point I cry- at moths.
I think this is amazing and super proud of her. It's truly hard for many individuals who don't suffer with anxiety, phobias, etc to understand. Unfortunately many people hide their fears do to being judged and ridiculed which is sad. What this woman did for herself was remarkable and so brave!
I had a friend who has a phobia of cats. One day a stray cat was roaming at the front gate of her home. She had to call in sick to get out of work bc she couldn't exit from her home. It was crazy.
I stumbled on this video by pure chance but I'm crying, I'm so proud of this woman!!!! Exposure therapy for an animal-related phobia is scary as hell even if you really want to get rid of your phobia (and i'm speaking from experience)!
I never had cats as a kid, but I had friends with cats, and I've always liked having a cat on my lap. In my adulthood I've had 3 cats, all of whom have meant a lot to me.
My mother has a huge phobia of rats. When she was smaller, her brothers use to chase her around her house with rats when she really small, and they wouldn't stop, even when she begged and cried and told them to stop. They kept doing that, so my mom then developed a phobia of rats. She still, to this day, will get anxiety whenever there is a rat in the house, which is really rare. I remember this one time, when I was smaller, my mom started crying because she saw a rat. I use to hug her and cover her with my blankets from my bed in attempt to help her and calm her down. It's really sad to see your own mother afraid of a harmless animal (ok they sometimes aren't that harmless but you get my point) to the point where she breaks down in tears.
HeyImEcho I have a phobia of birds, such a harmless animal as well (if it is an animal lmao). I'm afraid of going outside. It pretty much started from this one thought of being shit on to the point where if they fly over me or feel a drop on my body, I freak out. I'm just embarrassed to open up to my family and friends.
HeyImEcho When I was a kid my house had rats, so my mom got a cat who was Hannibal Lechter when it came to getting rid of them. Sometimes we'd find half of a chewed up rat or mouse and we'd look all over to find the other half. I love cats.
I got bit by a feral cat and had a nasty infection when I was little, next day I went to the same cat and it had given birth. I then adopted it. I still love cats no matter what they do to me. If a cat bites they have a reason
ThatCheese I got bitten by my cat and I had to get surgery because it was infected, I had an IV in me because it was the best medicine. We still kept the cat,I picked her up when she was scared,I’ll never get rid of her she’s so precious to me.
Yeah. Once when I was 2 there was a local cat and run towards it to pet it. It scratched my face but I didn't cry, I don't think it hurt. I still loved the cat, they've always been my favorite animal!
My cat scratched me under my eye 6 months ago and unfortunately left a pretty big scar. It’s easily covered with makeup and not noticeable anyways. We still have her because I love her so much. The whole thing was actually an accident. She scratched as a reflex because I woke her up with my face next to her. It was truly my fault and I know she didn’t mean it. I still love her but sadly it’s something my family mentions quite a bit. I feel like it might have affected them more than me
I understand having a phobia. I have a phobia of garbage trucks because I was almost run over by one as a kid. She's not alone. Sometimes, irrational fears happen because of a possible trauma. I also don't like ventriloquist dummies. Don't be judgemental assholes, please.
True, but I don't understand how anyone could be afraid of them. Everyone has got their own phobias. Hell, I'm scared of spiders and tarantulas, so I never hold them. Basically I grab an aerosol can and a lighter lol
It looked like she even did a little head tilt like- “huh… that… wasn’t so bad.” Before she went for another touch, and I just love that. I’m so proud of her too.
Funny thing is that in this very moment in 1:40 AM I know there's a roach next room in the hallway and I can hear my cat playing with it while I try to cry myself to sleep watching this video
mercidita andrade Lol I live in Australia and last night I caught a black roach at least 5cm long (2inch) it was huuuuuuuge. I hope you get over your fear soon
The first time I met my late cat I lifted my legs up to my chair whenever he came under my dining table, afraid of him biting/scratching me & scared of petting him, now I think they're soo cute and I wanna pet them, and hearing them meow & purr feels soo sweet and lovely 😺 😻😽
Marielena Potts It feels like something worse but also less violent than a cat scratching her. But angry cats can do some damage, I was bitten on the top of the head once. Also she doesn't seem to have touched a cat before.
fear is something I can't explain. are you afraid of anything? I'm afraid of spiders, but I can't explain why. some people are afraid of things because something bad happened to them involving what they are scared of. My friends sister was sitting outside and a bird landed in her hair, so now she's terrified of birds.
Let's not be mean to her i mean she has animal phobia and i know it did take her a long time like 10000,000000 years tl touch that cat but in proud of her for touching that kitty! 😊
You can tell her anxiety level went from a 10 down to like 4.5 after just petting the cat. Like she broke the fear barrier just by realizing kitties are nice and soft. Majority of people love petting soft things
This is actually a great point. A lot of irrational phobias are often not touch based, but rather experience. I think having a animal phobia in which the animal feels nice to touch is actually a nice plus when getting through the phobia. So proud of this woman for doing this. Phobias suck.
That was so sweet. When she pet the cat it was like she had a connection to it. I think it is deeper than she understood but there was a connection So cute
Confetti Cake Ikr! They are so smart! Like if your sad or sick they can sense it (Maybe because of your actions) then they will normally come over to Comfort you, but if she has a fear of that, it's okay 😂I'm proud of this women.
When I am not feeling (ready to be sick) my cat Bandit sneaks around the corner and looks at me cautiously. He's like "OK, I don't wanna get to close to her ( me). I just wanna make sure she'll be OK."
One of the worst things any about sort of anxiety or phobia is when you KNOW you don't need to be scared and don't want to be - but you can't convince your brain to react any other way. You desperately want your objective mind to shut down your pointless fears, but it doesn't. It makes you feel powerless.
I have the same fear as her, thats why I was on youtube trying to find people with the same phobia as me,because my friends make fun of me saying that they've never seen people with this same dissorder.I got anxious just by watching this video,I was cringing a LOT.If I see a cat on the street my heart starts beating soo fast and I don't even know how but tears fall of my eye.So I think I am in a extreme level of fear.
Don't worry, there are surprisingly many people who have very strong phobias, it's just that it is rarely about cats. I'm, for example, completely terrified of spiders (even the word is unsetteling) and I'm not able to look at photos of them, let alone watch a video 😂 I know a girl who spent 2 hours waiting for her parents to come home, because there was a spider hanging over the door and she was too afraid to go under it (I would have done the same honestly). I also have a friend that is afraid of ladybugs and I also know a person who is terrified of pigeons. People have the right to have their phobias respected. And although I love cats, I completly understand you. I mean, I would die if there where spiders of that size casualy walking on the street 😂
Same. I have animal phobia especially cats. It’s an irrational fear tbh so many people might find it silly. I literally start getting anxious and shaky around cats and animals in general, and my heart starts to beat super fast and my legs shake and feel very weak, not to mention how I cry if they got too close tho
I seem to have a phobia of any animal that comes near me! Lol. Apart from birds but they run away. With cats, I seem to have really odd experiences. My grandma had lots when I was a child so it's not like I was not exposed to them but as I grew up I didn't see any cats near me. Last year I went to someones house to deliver something I sold and was waiting by the door inside the house. They had a little cat that seemed to be jumping at me. Another time I was going into the car when a normal sized cat came by me and I walked around the car so it didn't come in the car. But it followed me. I went round and round the car and it was just doing the same! Freaked me out. If anyone can explain these animal behaviours then maybe I can understand them. It's the unpredictable nature that gets to me.
@@matterment Cats are very curious, and playful. If they follow you theyre just interested, and if they jump they might wanna play. Cats are weird, but I find them cute bc of it. If they hiss or growl or have their tail between their legs, then theyre not happy. Otherwise theyre just doing their thing 🐱
Umm you all shouldn’t be making fun of her . If you did the same to a tarantula then I would of laughed the shit out of you . Scared of a friendly furry legged friend ? Edit:my bad
This is actually me! I’m absolutely terrified of cats, I can’t help it and sometimes i have nightmares of me being surrounded by cats and i wake up scared
i remember encountering someone with a cat phobia while at the vet. it was the first time i've seen someone cover their ears to block out my cat's meows who was clearly not happy being there. i was amused, but didnt ridicule her for it. hopefully she managed to overcome some of that fear wherever she is.
