Hi Everyone. This is me in this video clip. This was 7 years ago. I didn’t know I’d be asked to walk dogs. I had a very real fear based on a very real experience. My son was 9 at the time and really wanted a dog. I put it off for a long time but knew it would be a blessing for him to have a dog. We’ve had Randy Sonic Jones since this time 7 years ago. I’ve also lost 65 pounds since then. I’m always working on me and overcoming fears or what’s perceived as shortcomings. I do it for myself and my son. Be blessed and stay safe everyone. ❤️😊

I admire you for facing your fears. You inspire me to face mine. I don't know if this will help, but I read that if you ever are feeling afraid of a dog (if it's a real threat, which is not very common), just climb on the top of any parked car nearby! It's a nice plan to have, so you don't have to worry, but I know you won't need it. I'm so glad you know the joy of pets and can enjoy them!

I find Shih Tzu's are just a bit mouthy (with the occasonal one that'll attack), Chihuahua's are generally evil, but thankfully usually don't do lasting damage because your average house cat would beat one up (Have had one try to kill my dog, but.... being an American bulldog, he just sat down on it when it tried to get at his throat from under him LOL) By main bogey dogs are Jack Russells. People get them expecting something you can baby, but the breed is notorious for biting. Or at least around here in the UK. Often they don't get exercised nearly enough (they are working dogs. They need mental and physical outlets), and this leads to bad behaviour that's remedied by picking them up (making the situation worse). I've had more attacks on my dog of this breed than anything else put together. Another note is Border Collies. Generally they're not bad dogs but require stupid amounts of exercise and mental stimulation IN THE RIGHT WAY. I've been attacked multiple times out horse riding by ill-trained collies.

Very true. There's never bad dogs, only bad owners. If it wasn't for my training of my nan's chihuahua as a pup, there would be tons of issues. She is the sweetest and most affectionate dog I've ever met. That she pulls your hand in for pets, and nuzzles your face for kisses. My chihuahua isn't as well behaved sadly, mainly her being my first dog and I was too young to properly train her. Her only issue I can say is barking, and it's very difficult to get her stop as she just doesn't care! Still, she's such and affectionate dog who loves kids and other dog's alike. She just turned ten this year and still going strong!

there are these animals native to Japan called Tanuki, also known as raccoon dogs; they're actually a kind of canine that just happens to resemble raccoons; they feature in Japanese legends as being mischievous shapeshifters, and get depicted by statues with ENORMOUS testicles; if you ever see a picture of a statue in Japan that's some sort of animal sitting up on its' hind legs with huge balls, that's a tanuki, the legend version ofc not the actual animal

If you get a Great Dane you are not just getting a dog, you adding one more member to the family. They need their own bed, about the size of a normal twin bed. Mine had her own settee in the lounge, they are prone to back up and sit down on furniture. I bought cars my Dane could get into. Now their role in the family is to protect family members, children come first, then the lady of the house and finally maybe you. They will protect property as well.

@alex_enbee
@alex_enbee 3 года назад
@@yuo3670 look i agree its not fair for pitbull lovers (like myself) to hate on Chihuahuas. But you have to understand, the only reason you don't hear about Chihuahuas seriously injuring people is because there incapable. But statistically speaking more people are attacked/bit by smaller dogs like chihuahuas than pit bulls. Statistics shows that, you can look it up. Chihuahua bites also aren't as reported as often as the bites of big dogs because they're not as severe. Even though you shouldn't let a dog bite you regardless of its size. Not only that, but no dog breed is inherently aggressive, its how the owner raises the dog that determines whether or not its aggressive. Pit bulls themselves used to be trusted to watch people's kids, they were called nanny dogs. But now people are so scared of them because of a couple people who raise them poorly and so they attack people, yet they blame the whole breed. So pitbull lovers, are constantly on the defensive because people are trying to blame a whole breed of dog over a few specific instances and it's not fair. Yet Chihuahuas get away with biting people all the time. If a pit bull bites someone its put down, but if a chihuahua bites someone people laugh it off. Ive been bite and nearly bite by chihuahuas a lot, but never by a pitbull. Anyways, hope that info was helpful.
@yuo3670
@yuo3670 3 года назад
@@alex_enbee Yeah dude that's the thing it's not necessarily fair but you've gotta have more control of a pitbull than a Chihuahua. One usually won't even break the skin if it decides to nip at you the other is fully capable of seriously disfiguring you. I don't think you understand what I'm getting at. Pitbulls are more dangerous their bite and their behavior matters way way more because the stakes are far higher. With pitbulls and Chihuahuas there's no comparison. It's like trying to compare Hockey and Baseball. I just wish pitbull lovers would stop complaining about dog racism and then turning around and spewing Chihuahua hate in the same fucking breath. It's ridiculous.

After a lot of talking I convinced her to take a wirehaired daschund in, which she fell in love with, then a cocker spaniel, then two more wired doxies . By the time the first dachshund and the spaniel passed on I was ready for a dog fitting my size ( 6'7) along side the two remaining doxies. So we got a german shepherd, which she is absolutely smitten with now . Ofcourse it helps to see them grow up from this little ball of fur to a fullsize GSD but... kudos to you and her for stepping out your comfortzone and face your fears.

I love them too. But they die very early. So get one then at the same time get a small or medium dog that is not a pure breed. That is what we did and I had six at different times. Then went to small mixed breed and the dogs live till it’s 19 or 20.

Grew up in a neighborhood full of hostile dogs, because owners where I’m from saw dogs as yard ornaments or fight tickets. Hated walking the streets, until we adopted a 4 year old Great Dane in 1999 that had his ears clipped by the previous owner. Such a gentle giant, but a dog that took absolutely no shit from anyone. I felt proud walking him up and down the street. He defended us like crazy, and had a forever home till he died in 2010. Haven’t owned another dog since, he was just too special.

Personally I have had at least 1 dog my entire life however, I know a fear of dogs is a real and valid phobia. In my opinion, no dog is created mean, its a learned behavior. I wish there were more brave people like this man and woman that are willing to be patient, understanding and compassionate so that humans AND dogs do not have to be fearful of each other.

During life - I've worked delivery of newspapers, and floral arrangements. The Danes that greeted me were always gentle and quiet. In fact, one time I leaned into the van to grab a fruit-basket, stood up, and a Dane was standing right behind me - I never heard him! I asked "Where's Mom?" - and he bounded off the the backyard garden looking behind him at me like "She's THIS way!" Very smart! Very sweet! Another place I stood at a door with just a storm-door closed and a vase in my hand. I looked at the doorbell, and when I looked up THERE was a Dane - quiet as can be... but his companion, a teacup Chi - was yapping her head off!

My mother was attacked by a pit bull in California (our families husky ended up killing it in her defense) and she was freaked out by bullies. I moved back to my home town after college and I brought home an American bulldog mix. After bringing him over to her house daily for weeks she grew comfortable with him and now they cuddle on the couch while she watches TV. I'm glad she didn't carry that fear with her for the rest of her life.

Great Danes seem to be great dogs to help someone overcome their fear of dogs. I mean, when I was a kid I was terrified of dogs. Until I met Hercules. He was very patient and didn't bother me when I was being scared around him. He only came up to me when I finally reached my hand out to him. Now, I love dogs and all animals. Thank you Great Danes, for being the best boys.

I’ve had an aggressive dog in my household since I was 5. I’ve never once been bitten even when left alone with him because I can read him well. He’s actually very good at communicating so I know when to give him space. There’s a lot of warning signs before growling that I’ve picked up on.

I'm a dog person since childhood. When I was born there were three dogs of varying sizes and two cats in our house, and I had dogs pretty much until I was 25, after which my living situation changed in a way, I would not be able to properly cater to a dog's needs, so I stopped having dogs. I still miss it terribly. Anyway, so one could understand why it would be very hard for me to wrap my head around people being scared of dogs. However, my very best childhood friend had a terrible fear of dogs. She would literally jump behind me and hide when a dog crossed our way on the street, or she would change to the other side of the street all together. Her fear was very very real and it was also rooted in a negative childhood experience paired with the fact that she didn't have any dogs in her family herself when growing up. Whenever she'd see a dog she'd get thrown back into that traumatic moment and she was not able at all to read a dog's body language in part from being blind-sighted from fear in part from a lack of experience with dogs. Being around my dogs alleviated her fears a little bit. At some point she actually got very comfortable around them and would play a lot with them. And that change transferred also to strange dogs that were similar to my dogs in size. The fear never left her completely though, but she's continuously been trying her best for all of her life. It's not that she didn't want to like dogs, the apprehension is just so deeply rooted in her, her body reacts in fear before her mind gets any say in it. The reason why I'm writing all this is, that for dog owners/lovers it's tough to wrap our heads around people like that. We look at a random dog and see pretty much at a glance if it's excited, friendly, relaxed, stressed, fearful, focused, aggressive etc. We can read their body language, we can look back on a wealth of positive prior experience with dogs, and all of that puts us instantly at ease around dogs. We have to realize that people with a real fear of dogs don't have any of those advantages and most of the time it is absolutely not their fault. We love our dogs, they're family to us and I do understand deeply how we're a bit offended every time someone 'dislikes' or fears our dog. I get it. But try to show some empathy to that person who just didn't have the same happy experience around dogs that we had. Don't get offended. Don't regard it as a joke and trigger the person's fear even more by letting your dog jump up on them, triggering their traumas and possibly making them worse. Be empathic, show some pity, be patient. Control your dog and hold it back (as lovely as it is for sure, generally a dog needs to learn to respect people's personal space) and if it's someone you know offer the person to spend time around your dog with you as a safety net around. I found many people, even those who are scared of dogs, have a hidden dog lover deep inside of them, and you just might be able to help and free them from their cage of fear. My friend is considering to get a dog for her two kids now btw.
