I didn't notice it at first but when you brought up that layering thing I listened for it and I hear that too. Either that or it is just some vocal effect done in the production.

It's definitely layered, you can hear it in certain parts where they are slightly out of sync. If it was done during the mixing stage it would sound unnatural and "too perfect" if you know what i mean.
