Mary was ordained to be the earthly nurturer of baby Jesus, the Christ Child, Emmanuel, the prophesied Messiah and King! There could be no greater trial for a woman than to birth the son of the living God, raise Him to the best of her human abilities and bear the weight of knowing He was destined to die. Talk about an isolating experience!! No one before or since has walked such a lonely and honorable road and she has much to teach us on how to carry heavy news, live with unwavering faith, and parent little people of great destiny.
