This video is a great reminder that, when it comes to relays, it's not just about who the fastest team is, it's about what team can get the baton around the track the fastest.
Nothing like watching the pros showoff their endless hours of hard work on handoffs. USA had 2 terrible exchanges and JA had one that still looks inconceivable. Hats off to France for the deserved win.
they just throw a team together; most of time they try to figure out how to get the exchanges right in the heats. so 1 race to figure out the most critical aspect of the race in less than 2 seconds and apply it in the finals
It seems that they do not give enough attention or practice time for the handover. Does not help when you have super quick athletes, but sooo many great teams have surcomed to failure and losses during the handover.
😂what's sad is how even with those exchanges JA still got relatively close...gotten be consistent oh just found out USA was DNQ. so jamaica gets 3rd lol
That’s the thing. China and Japan are ALWAYS flawless with their baton exchanges (except for that one time but we don’t talk about it lol). They use technique to compensate for lack of speed.
Jamaica with such talented quartet finished fourth cos of bad baton exchanges. This is rather very unfortunate for them , with the presence of thompson, Jackson and Fraser Price. Well done French
@@itzkuauhtlimuniz4179 a blind handoff is actually really difficult. To sync without seeing, trusting that you're matching pace, your hands are meeting the same arc, a dozen little things have to line up perfectly or your handoff will slow you down.
BEFORE THE RACE, LOOKING AT THE JAMAICAN TEAM, I SAID THE ONLY WAY THEY COULD LOOSE THE RACE, is if they mess up the baton change, and that's exactly what happened, they are usually very good at baton changes, so one wonders what went wrong.
@@giovannibrown-smith3098 You are right, my bad. I thought we were discussing all the years SAFP was competing, during which they won all but one world championships but failed to win one Olympic title in 4x100 even though they were the clear favorites. 2004 I believe American was clear favorite but they messed up. They would not win anyway since all Jones' medals were stripped that year.
@@Robin_Hood1989 Well you could have been more specific and said "during SAFP time" and not "all these years their team never won". In 2008, it was a poor baton change between VCB and a next female athlete. What happened to the US team in that year by the way🤔? Cant recall but they didn't won🤷🏽♂️.In 2012, the US team was more well rounded and faster than the Jamaican team with Jeter and Felix, a silver medal was won by JA. 2016, SAFP had an toe injury and was still able to give JA a silver. If she wasn't, definetly a Gold for JA
@@bigE1983themonsta absolutely not They went to the olympics for people to see their talent,For them to show their talent which they worked hard for Not for creeps to simp over them Its cuz of people like you, Women cant do anything freely without being catcalled
4x2 is the most difficult passing. The crouch start makes it more difficult to see the runners hit their marks and judge their speed. A simpler approach is needed. The French team used the old underhand pass, which may not be as fast as the usual but is smoother and safer. We can see only the last pass of the French because of camera locations.
Bravo et merci pour cette victoire ca va faire beaucoup de plaisir pour tout les francais qui vous souhaite la reuisite et tres belle avenir pour dautre titre courage et merci
This is why the 4×200 needs to be contested more in meets like the world champs, Olympics and ncaa champs. When it is contested it looks like this. But we get mixed relay races instead.
This is like having a nice lead in a Formula 1 race then when you make a pit stop to change the tires, they completely mess it up. What a shame for Jamaica.
in my opinion mixing 200m runners and 400m runners kinda messed things up for jamaica here. 400m runners are not used to the blind exchange used in the shorter sprint relays
@@Squidlark No, I meant exactly "transmission". I'm looking at the relay as one engine and each baton pass is how smooth the change is from one gear to another..
@Omi und Opi Even if they were born under the Eiffel Tower, if their skins are dark and their hair grows upwards, the are Africans. What is racist about that?
@Omi und Opi I am determining no value. I am saying they are eagles born in an hens coop. Racism has to do with a dominant race and they having the economic clout and willingness to enforce a malign dominance. How can I be racist when I get the monkey sound from u when u see me?
@Omi und Opi Colonisation and slavery has robbed a lot of people of their resources and of who they really are. It is disgusting to hear u, claiming to be dark skinned, glorifying in these evil systems. This is not surprising though. Of all the European colonies, the French slavery/colonialism has been known to be the most brutal. I cannot say, it was a pleasure to meet u, the U that should have been there has completely been whitewashed, and this is the long term objective. Alas! By now u should have a healthy contempt for the burdensome dark skin u wear (and the confusion to deny this), seeing that u are not a phenotypical French.
@@obeahman6286 Blabla Always this Kind of bullshit from insecure white men... French overseas départements are officially French since French Revolution, Savoy only 70 years after. Leduc has probable more French ancestry than Griezmann or even Lloris
Agreed. I'm less inclined to want the 4x1500 in the mix but I've always thought that the 4x2 and 4x8 should be in the Olympics. People sleep on the 4x8, it's a great race!
Ahh Jamaica paa😂eii what happened ,I was disappointed at first but now those exchanges look funny ,I'm soo glad they improved on it so they won the Olympics
Naaah, you must not know about Jamaica, they are known for their incredible baton changes. This was just a one off situation, Plus they got the Bronze here.
In Jamaica’s case, I thought it was simply the inexperience of two runners and the experience of two. Elaine Thompson and Shelly Ann Fraser run too often for that to be the case with those two but the other two were simply ridiculous. They acted as though they had never been on a track let alone trying to receive a baton from a teammate running full speed toward them!
@@dawnbillingslea4143 I think the point is after 200m you are nowhere near full pace. They tried to do a 4 X 100m change when the french went for a variation of the 4 X 400m
Ann McPherson (Jamaica) siempre ha sido una atleta regular para correr en los 400 m., no se diga en 200 m. No pertenece a la elite de Campbell-Brown, Fraser-Pryce y Thompson.
In life sometimes some win by chances, and looses by mistakes. The mighty don't always win the war, and the weaks at times can beat the stronger,.and it repeats. They must've been disappointed with those mistakes they made with the exchange. I believe that if those mistakes weren't made they would have won
