The Women's High Jump event kicked off at 12:57 (Local Time) at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, on August 21, 2021. The temperature range that day was between 13°C - 26°C (55°F - 78°F).
Eugene is a City in the U.S. State of Oregon, in the Pacific Northwest. It has a population of 156,185 (2010 Census). It is the third most populous city in Oregon. The city is noted for its natural environment, and recreational opportunities, and focus on the arts, along with its history of Civil Unrest, Protests, and Green Activism. Eugene's Official Slogan is "A Great City for the Arts and Outdoors". It is also referred to as "Emerald City" (for obvious reasons), and as "Track Town USA". Eugene is located at an Elevation of 131 meters (430 feet) above sea level.
The event featured a strong field of nine competitors, seven of them Tokyo Olympians: Rachel McCoy (USA), Erika Kinsey (Sweden), Alessia Trost (Italy), the remaining four were Olympic Finalists: Yuliya Levchenko (Ukraine), Kamila Lićwinko (Poland), Vashti Cunningham (USA), Iryna Gerashchenko (Ukraine).
Iryna Gerashchenko (Ukraine) equaled her mark achieved at the Olympic Games two weeks earlier (August 7, 2021) of 1.98 meters to win the Women's High Jump event at the Prefontaine Classic. The result represents a decrease in height of 0.503% with respect to her Personal Best of 1.99 meters (2019).
