Women Sports Commentators Are TERRIBLE - Joey Barton 

Jonathan Pearce is the worst football commentator over the last fifty years. Would love to know How he got the gig!

I completely agree with that. That said, I still prefer ex-footballers in the mens' game or other sports as such to comment on the sport: They have done it and at least some of them can talk about the game with experience and knowledge and delivery. Finally it's also about the criteria as opposed to just the output: The criteria imho should be the best fit for the game and ex-players are being sidelined for a poltical agenda that dictates pushing women commentators at best on grounds of they can do the job and worse that there's something wrong about the men because they're not women and so on that descends into madness. It's just toxic as opposed to what both most fans want and what is fair for the expertise and experience. Naturally for the womens' game, let the women comment who played with those other woman etc!

The issue that people have is with unlawful discrimination which is most likely taking place in the hiring of commentators for men's football. Women ex-pros have played at a much lower standard and it seems unlikely that they'd be better qualified than all of the large number of male ex-pro candidates for these jobs. (Any argument that there are male commentators who never played pro ignores that these people are journalists who do a lot of research and they're the main person commentating.)

I don't know what planet you are living on or if you have been living under a rock for the past few years but man utd are getting linked with the exact calibre of manager they deserve.

They're commercial so they'll pick whoever THEY think can deliver the best results: That's all there is to: They're so professional they'll pick whoever they can make work. Does not mean they'll get it right but they not not trying!

Just like the men's category is the 'open' category. And the women's is the women's

@@seasonedbeefs Not at all. It's incorrect to say "man singer", "man nurse", "man commentator"; it's correct to use "male" to describe those people. Likewise, it's correct to say "female singer", female nurse", "female commentator."
