Yikes, comment war. Well, we live in a world where appearances mean everything. How a woman looks defines how she is treated, how seriously she is taken, and what sort of position she can get. The same does go for men, but to a lesser degree. Besides- there's something inherently elegant in a well-fitting women's suit.
La Raconteuse yea true but coming from a woman's point of view I'd have to disagree. It's about your attitude and confidence. That's what gets you noticed. More than a pretty blouse or awkward pant suit. people give too much power to the clothes we put on our backs and not enough credit to ourselves and the way we carry ourselves. What makes a woman sexy and strong is the women. not what she is wearing.
EmilyN/A I feel like they've been worse in other videos tbh lol. A lot of the time the people start crying but in this one I just kinda got the vibe that they were like "oh here's this cool thing that I liked that I could maybe start doing more frequently"
Yeah but what you're wearing can give you that boost. I know I certainly feel better if I feel like I look put together, if I'm enjoying how I look and the way it makes me feel then i feel more confident, walk a little taller, don't mind being noticed as much. It's definitely about the attitude and the confidence, but that confidence can absolutely be influenced by what you're wearing. I think the most important thing is if you feel comfortable and genuine in it then that's where the confidence comes through.
TOTALLY AGREEE and patterned too! What's up with the all black suits? don't get me wrong i love a good black blazer and pants combo but women can get away with patterned suit pants dammit
there's a really cool short documentary on suits on Broadly here on YT where the girl finds an awesome vintage suit and gets it fitted and she looks BOMB. have a look it's pretty rad!
Sad how the plus size woman couldn't shop with the other women. Seems like culture is discriminating a little bit towards plus size women. Honestly how hard is it for all stores to carrry alll the sa,e clothes in plus sizes? Not that hard. And women with large feet. I literally have to buy pretty shoes from trans websites to get pretty shoes.
Honestly, how much plus is a plus size and what's the limit of expanding a clothing line's sizes? Is it european 56/58, is it 60.70.80.90.100 ? Wouldn't it be much smarter to lose some weight when you reach a size that isn't being sold in shops?
Fukai Kokoro Even my city which population is around 200 000, has at least 3 exclusively plus size stores. They're in LA(?) where there are 3,8 million people living in the city, and no shopping options for Kristin? Can't be real.
beebikinis There are options, but for what Kristin was going for (a tux that she could wear for an important event), it is often a much safer and smarter option to go with an online retailer that has customizable sizes.
very smart mom responding “it is not my style” love it because it is respectful of the daughter’s style but also expressing that the mom would not do it
I work at a bank, so lace choker, toms and dark lip is not on the dress code. However, I wish they were a little more creative with their suits. You don't have to dress like an undertaker. Freddie looked the best in the end.
Pizza_For_Life You're one random commenter who finds reason to whine at us for our opinions. There's nothing anyone said that was impolite. Even the one comparison made wasn't really degrading. I really don't see what your problem is.
Don't be jealous, every body size has their advantages and disadvantages. Being tall often leads to very awkward moments, e.g. when you always stick out of a group of people, when a guy you like is smaller than you or when you're clumsy and hit your head on everything :'D
@@franfrankie7 I'm not sure imagine being 6 feet tall and not being able to find any jeans that fit you. At least if you're short you could shop in the kids section. 🙂
I hate when buzzfeed says "women" like they speak for all of us. I've been rocking pants suits for years and never felt like I wasn't "allowed" to. And seriously at the end of the day it's just clothes.
They weren't saying that no women wear suits, they actually mentioned how a lot of women in high positions do wear suits, it was just these women wearing suits with the purpose of making them feel powerful and commenting on it.
Geez, so what they can't use the word "women" now either without someone getting offended? These girls are women. Do you want them to be called girls? Chicks? Chicas? Like? They are women who have never tried suits. There is literally nothing to be offended about.
the problem really is that the women in ladylike are in similar positions and seem to have the same attitudes toward things, rather than all of them coming from more diverse backgrounds or something like that. buzzfeed really reaches for diversity but tends to miss it a lot :^/
OMG. I JUST REALIZED THAT DEVIN IS CHO CHANG FROM A VERY POTTER MUSICAL! And the friend she went to see at Hedwig was good ol' Harry Potter - DARREN CRISS! So awesome.
I got super excited. So glad they still keep in touch even though she's not in theatre anymore. It would be great to see her in a Starkid play/musical again. :)
That Thing You See At The Corner Of Your Eye exactly. It's not really the clothes or the glasses that make you feel that way. Those things make other people feel a certain way about you sense how they feel about you and it make you feel better in turn.
I wore a pantsuit to dinner yesterday evening and felt like a boss. Grey palazzo pants+black shirt+tartan jacket with shoulderpads, i felt straight outta the eighties and it felt AWESOME
It makes me upset that stores don't have sizes that go bigger then 'average' I mean, Kristin couldn't hang out with her FRIENDS, because of this problem. It's not a very good thing..
Olivia M Kristen is obese and much bigger than the majority of people. It would cost companies way too much to add a section of clothing to their stores just for a small portion of people. Plus, all the prices of clothes for average sized people would go up. She cab still buy stuff, she just has to do it online. It's a trade-off for allowing herself to be that obese.
+diego kjaria becky does not carry the same kind of historic oppression that other slurs do. do not tell me that white peoples lives are harmed by the word becky. and lastly, you cannot be racist towards white people. educate yourself ? white people are systematically on top of the pyramid. racism is structural, not personal. stop embarrassing yourself.
- ̗̀rem ̖́- racism, i believe, is inherently about holding power. prejudice is more of a judgement. racism is used by a group in power to retain power. racism is not explicitly being unkind to someone because of their race, but it more of being oppressive towards someone in response to their race. you cannot conceive racist opinions toward white people, at least not in our society today. stereotypes etc that people may hold against them in no way limit their lives. they do not limit their chances of finding a job, of living even. reverse racism does not exist. i believe that racism and oppression go directly hand in hand, meaning that white people cannot be a victim of racism. poc are obviously differently affected by stereotypes, whether it be positive or negative. e.g. the stereotype that all black people are malicious, or the stereotype that all asians are smart (which is a surprisingly negative stereotype, although it seems positive). the stereotype that white people cant dance or like starbucks in no way affects the way that they life their lives. racism goes hand in hand with stereotypes which goes in hand with oppression. i do think that the word "racism" is not very well understood, and is a reflection on how we treat minorities in the erasing of the word itself
I'm a girl who doesn't care for dresses and loves suits and tuxedos. And before that one idiot asks, I'm not trans, I'm not homosexual. I just really like suits and tuxedos. Okay thanks, bye.
Random Kitty I'm totally with you on this. I don't like dresses or skirts, I feel very uncomfortable in them. Suits, trousers & tux's are my thing. Also like you I'm not gay but you don't have to be gay to like them.
Buzzfeed: "Huh why do men wear suits and women dont"?... Buzzfeed: OMG SEXIST! NOW WE NEED TO MAKE A VIDEO CALLED Women Wear Suits• Ladylike!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Adda 123 They're just trying to make a point. I mean only 70 years ago it was frowned on for women to wear suits or paints. And now we can and we do it with style.
I have been wearing suits to church lately to try to abolish the gender stereotypes and I have never gotten more compliments. some members have a hard time with it tho because of the gender roles we naturally take on at a Mormon church. However, it is so empowering to just walk around and know that you are powerful enough to do what you want
RaeHyun Cho If they are dissapointed, then that is their problem. If you want to wear a suit, then do it! there is nothing more powerful or as satisfying than wearing what makes you happy. You can wear whatever you want, and anyone who tells you otherwise, is just jealous that you can wear it better!
Is it just me or does buzzfeed focus on women alot. Every other video is 'women try this'.... or 'women do that'. It's getting boring. This is just my opinion, don't get butt hurt. AND I'M NOT A FEMINIST OR ANTI- FEMINIST...
I competed in Speech and Debate in High School. We wore pant suits and bussiness dresses all the time, and it really does make you feel more confident and professional.
I totally love how women/girls wear suits!! I just love the idea of it and the command and power that it gives you. Idk, it's just so all around badass!
Saf looks like she could be in a magazine, but Freddy stayed most true to her own style and I appreciate that. Kristin looked amazing with just the bra underneath and so does Devin.
I hate it. Makes me appear bigger than I am and whenever it rains or snows (frequently) I can't bring a jacket with me because I have no room for it as I need to wear a blazer.
blazer yes, pants no. it might seem sexist but I feel like woman who wear a skirt/dress are more powerful than pants, like I'm still a woman but my top say man. if this makes sense
Really it's about how the clothes make you feel, though. If a woman feels more confident in a suit than in a skirt, she'll act more confident and give off that aura of power.
Not really no, but you do you. I don't want to wear a suit to look like a man, I want to wear one because I want to look business-savvy and like a boss. I like both skirts and pants, but it's hard to find suit pants that are well fitted.
Even Saf's suit look was undeniably business casual goth. I love it, she seems to be more and more openly just going with that kind of look, which suits her well. And Freddie is just gorgeous no matter what.
I didn't want to leave my house after the election either. It sucked. But I did, I believe we can get through this. Also, I want to go buy myself a suit piece now! You girls rocked it!
Verónica Dueñas obviously, but just because your candidate lost doesn't mean you can't leave your house. if you have a problem with the government, you can work to change the problem instead of crying at home like a triggered toddler
Sofie D. What I meant was that because a xenophobic wanker won, people who strongly backed him and his beliefs believe it's okay to spur hateful words and physically assault minorities (predominantly Muslims.) There's been a few people who have been harassed already.
