Comparison between traditional women work songs from Northern Portugal and Scotland.
"Segadinhas" - A Northerm Portuguese folk song, traditionally sung by women during the wheat harvest.
"Waulking songs" - Scottish folk songs, traditionally sung in the Gaelic language by women while waulking cloth. This practice involved a group of people beating newly woven tweed rhythmically against a table or similar surface to soften it.

In Portugal, we also have a village called ''Caladunum'' (in Trás-os-Montes, north of Portugal) ▪︎ From the ancient Celtic ''kala'' (rock, cliff) & ''dunon'' (fortress)

Portugal derives from Portus (Latin for harbour)+Cale (Celtic for port). Cale was the main city and port at the mouth of Douro river (today's Gaia facing Porto). The Romans didn't know the meaning of Cale, they thought it was a placename. The western part of Iberia was mostly Celtic.

Em Portugal há algumas palavras celtas como ( broa é pão de milho que é típica do Minho era assim que os Celtas chamavam ao pão.

Errado ! "Broa" é uma palavra que vem do germânico arcaico (Suevo) "brauth" (no alemão actual "Brot") que literalmente significa "pão". Os Suevos tiveram uma ENORME influência na região de Entre Douro e Minho e foram fundamentais como embrião do Reino de Portugal.

My moms is from Aveiro Portugal and my dad is from recife brasil I did my dna ancestry and it didn’t show any Celtic ancestry. I was wondering if any Portuguese here have it?

Eu. Imensos portugueses tem ADN igual ao dos Irlandeses, Galeses e Escoceses. Os Celtas das Ilhas Britânicas chegaram lá a partir do Noroeste da Península Ibrérica.

Heeeelllppp. I'm a Hispanic American who took 2 DNA tests and I expected spain to be the highest for my European part and I eneded up with Portugal as the highest on both! Lmao. I don't hate Portugal but this is so weird but at the same time, not so much. Portugal is right next to Spain anyways and my Spanish ancestors were mainly from Asturias, galicia, canary islands, Madrid and Andalucia so maybe that's why lol. Ironically enough, I have some Welsh and Scottish 🤔
