The only bit of Toru lore you'll ever need to know is how he listened to his stand reference on an ipod while everyone else was bleeding out near him. Honestly it went kinda hard
I actually got creeped out after reading that part. Toru's stalking the Higashikata family, and as his stand's already in the process of enacting petty calamity upon calamity on them and anyone after him, "Satoru Akefu", or the Fruit, he's just grooving out to the Presley song without a care in the world.
Canon Wonder Of U would immediately kill you as soon as the match begun, his Calamity damage is stupid OP. Examples include: Tripping over chairs severing your legs, a leaf falling cutting your fingers off, it's not actually Acid Rain, it's NORMAL rain that is slicing through your body like butter, and the thing that falls from the Sky during his GHA is a piece of a Plane that broke off and flew miles through the sky to hit YOU specifically.
btw it isn't acid rain, it's just normal rain. Because of calamity, everything that can go wrong goes wrong, so it's just normal rain that somehow beats you up XD
It amplifies anything to calamitous levels. A leaf falls on you? It hits with the impact of a howitzer cannon. Same with the rain. Those raindrops hit you as if they were going a thousand miles an hour and just put basically bullet holes in your flesh. That’s why this thing is so insane
It kinda fucks me up that the idea of calamity, a thing that is so abstract and coulda had many different implementations, is made to be a comeback mechanic that makes his moves stronger the more damage he takes. But otherwise i love him
@@KingOfFools784 true. But I figured they would implement it based on the opponents distance to him, rather than his health bar. Cause comeback mechanics in fighting games are typically lame to deal with imo. And having wou change in response to what position the enemy is in coulda had so much potential to make him one of the most unique characters in the game (more so than he already is lmao)
The thing that confuses me more than this is not giving wou any charge moves (guile sonic boom sonic kick ect) him walking back is actively useless currently you should always try to tp backwards if he was just a charge character he would be perfect imo
Spoilers for what the Wonder of U can do, although if you're watching this you probably don't care about spoilers but yeah, just to make sure. The Wonder of U's main power is that "if you peruse the stand or stand user (basically) the random nature of the world will try and stop you," so like random things will get in your way, random people and objects will just "coincidently" stop you, and the closer you get the more violent things will get, Like in his Super Counter, that comes from a part of the story where a plane door gets detached mid flight and is falling directly towards a character. Another ability it has to my knowledge hasn't really been explained but the way I see it is that when something moving comes into contact with you it acts as if it has extreme speed, so for example, the rain move he has is just normal rain but due to it's power when the rain impacts you it acts like bullets, or a pressure washer. It's been a bit sense I read part 8 but I hope this explains the general concept of WoU to people who haven't read Part 8.
You basically explained it head on. The flow of calamity is a natural existing force, implied to be an aspect of Fate. When it’s against you, misfortune will always happen to you. Every infinitesimal chance event that could occur, will occur, and the effects are magnified like you said. Rain slams into you like machine gun fire, stubbing your toe can blast off your entire foot, and so on. The closer you get to WoU or the user, and the higher your intent to pursue, the worse it gets. There seems to be no duration or power limit to this either; if a calamitous event hits you, it WILL damage you.
@pixeldreams5193 the fact that wonder of u is also fully autominous is awesome. The fact it chose to be what it did in context to the story. The reason why it wears the clothes it does. And as long as you don't pursue for obvious reasons. It's shown WOU can have a conversation as it's alter ego with staff and a whole theatre full of people.
0:34 nah, thats just normal rain The thing is that, if there's nothing harmful close to you, the calamity will turn even the most inofensive thing into a deadly one, like rain, a saml porrion of a roakaka fruit, even a little pebble. That or it will just make something fall of the sky, like that airplane door from his GHA
Personally I think it would’ve been better if instead of stuff running into you and it doing insane damage. It just runs into like normal, kinda like you have extremely bad luck. While it’s less OP it makes a lot more sense.

0:50 Fun fact(Spoilers) This is regular rain. Wonder Of U's ability consist of making everything around you deal more damage. Such as making rain do as much damage as a bullet. This happens whenever you are "pursuing" him.
"I'm her ex" Toru dated Yasuho Hirose, a secondary main in Jojolion who's been helping "Josuke" with his identity quest. Although, "dated" is a strong word. He would randomly appear at different points in Yasuho's life, asking her for favors, all the while giving her no reason to inquire into him.
the rain is normal rain its just that the way his ability works is that the closer you get to him the more small things will hurt you *IE* one character stubbs his toe in persuit of WOU and their entire leg explodes (so the rain is normal its just they are close to WOU and the power of calamity increases as an enemy or someone with ill intent gets closer)
This character is ridiculously broken, every time I play against someone with him they just keep throwing projectile at me from far away and it’s really hard to dodge all of them
Now watch when I try to play this I won’t find not one single opponent with good connection 😂 and if I do find someone it’ll be a player that stayed playing since release 😅
they're not even heavy, WoU just makes the worst possible outcome of the events it summons happen to its pursuers In the manga, when this rain happened the police officers and objects such as vehicles were unaffected, so Josuke and Rai could evade it just by climbing in one of the police cars.
