I think Wonder Dynamics just found their new spokes-geek. I love that you point out that this is “the worst” this tool will ever be - so many possibilities as it evolves. Game changer.
This is a bit of a public service announcements for anyone who is interested in using custom characters with Wonder Studio. You should be aware that as of now (April 2023) the process to do so is quite cumbersome and requires manual preparation of the rig inside of Blender to a detailed specification, or retargeting after the fact. The developer forum seems to be full of people having a lot of difficulty with the process, so for custom characters it’s certainly not the one-click process just yet. Furthermore the closed beta allows a maximum 7 minutes of footage per month, 2 minutes per clip so it could prove limiting for some uses (this is unfortunately not enough for the project I was thinking about trying it with). I wouldn’t stress if you haven’t managed to gain access yet as it is very early stages software. It’s fine if you happen to want to use one of the preset rigs or just muck around, but for some real world use cases it has a bit of a way to go. According to the developers, they’re working on more user friendly solutions for how characters are prepared such as being able to translate rigs made by other rigging tools. Once that’s in place e.g you could upload a static mesh and it gets auto-rigged, this will become an insanely useful tool.

Thanks for sharing, quick question, can the AI only detect people in the scene to replace? Let's say I did a panning shot around a single tree on a hill and I wanted to replace that tree with a building or structure of some kind. Do you think eventually I'll be able to select that tree and the app will automatically replace it with a tracked shot of a structure, city or building? It would be amazing if it could learn to replace other objects for building entire sci-fi worlds as well as characters. 🤔

i think your last point was enormously important, and thanks for sharing it. Ai is taking over tons of creativity, BUT as you specified, most of the times it takes the whole, entire process, leaving the human element too much outside. This point of view , that must be shared by the industry is that AI needs to be used as a tool, leaving the human elelement in. We take the final, decision(s) across the whole project. It helps , it enhance, but we decide. Its the human centered approach we should always keep in mind. Look at firefly from adobe, (like the others) you write prompts and et voilá comes the "art" work. its ethically and artistically wrong on my opinion
07:10 Idk man, I think people don't know how to prompt the ai is more like it. I try to put myself in the ai shoes and imagine how I would make sense of what the human is asking me to make. lol.
I ordered their LITE plan, which can't be ordered month by month, only one subscription at a time for a year. It cost me $192. After ordering, I found out that it only gives you 2 1/2 minutes of video a month! God, what were they thinking? I used up two and a half minutes in a day! Because I tested several videos to learn, which is equivalent to saying 2 and a half minutes, I don't even have enough time to study! Not enough time for a day! It won't be available for 29 days of the month! This company is too ruthless! How shameless!
